Chapter 237 Just Helped Him to Bed for a Nap

Amelia entered the hotel and strode into the elevator, paying no heed to the slightly reddened eyes of the receptionist at the front desk.

She went straight to Frederick's floor.

As the elevator doors opened, she hadn't even stepped out when she saw Amber standing at the door of Frederick's suite.

Amelia frowned slightly and walked out of the elevator with a cold expression.

Had Felix called her and Amber both?

Amelia's eyes darkened slightly as she strode over.

Amber shouted, "Felix, you're just an assistant to Frederick. I'm Frederick's friend. Aren’t you afraid of losing your job for keeping me out?”

Felix's attitude was still humble, but his tone gradually lost patience. "Ms. Roberts, if I let you in, I will definitely lose my job tomorrow."

Amber's face blushed with anger.

Amelia, hearing their argument, softened her expression slightly.

It seemed she had misunderstood just now.

Seeing Amelia, Felix's eyes lit up as if he had seen a savior. He greeted Amelia. "Ms. Davis."

Amelia nodded lightly and handed the medicine she was holding to Felix.

Felix refused to take the medicine and instead stepped aside to make way. He said, "Ms. Davis, please go in and check on Mr. Hastings. I wouldn't dare give him medicine recklessly."

Amber became furious as she saw Felix's completely different attitude towards Amelia compared to her.

Amelia remained calm and stepped into the suite.

Amber wanted to follow, but Felix immediately blocked her way. Almost as soon as Amelia entered the room, he blocked the door and said coldly, "Ms. Roberts, take care."

With that, Felix closed the door.

Amber stood at the door and clenched her hands tightly, her expression very unpleasant.

With Amelia present, arguing with Felix would be embarrassing. Amber bit her lip and finally turned away.

Amelia walked into the suite and saw Frederick lying on the sofa.

His entire face was red from the high fever, looking as if he were drunk.

Amelia walked over and reached out to feel his forehead.

Before her hand could touch his forehead, Frederick waved his hand and knocked hers away, saying coldly, "Don't touch me."

Perhaps due to the high fever, his throat was dry, making his voice hoarse.

Amelia merely touched him lightly and then withdrew her hand.

His forehead was burning hot, and he might already be delirious from the high fever.

Seeing Frederick knock Amelia's hand away, Felix grew anxious and quickly said, "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Davis is here."

Frederick slowly opened his eyes. His deep eyes were now somewhat dazed, bloodshot from the fever.

He hoarsely responded without much reaction.

Amelia glanced at him indifferently and then said to Felix, "Take his temperature."

Felix quickly nodded, took the thermometer from the medicine bag Amelia had brought, and respectfully handed it to her.

Amelia stepped aside and said, "You do it."

Felix quickly shook his head and stepped back with Amelia, saying, "Mr. Hastings doesn't like others touching him."

Amelia frowned and retorted, "He doesn't like me touching him either."

Felix hurriedly said, "You're different. You were his wife for three years. Naturally, Mr. Hastings likes you touching him."

Amelia cast a faint glance at Felix, feeling slightly exasperated.

In the end, she took the thermometer, shook it, and placed it under Frederick's armpit.

As she bent down close to Frederick, he opened his eyes, his dark gaze sweeping over Amelia as he said, "You came."

His voice was somewhat hoarse.

Amelia didn't respond, and after placing the thermometer properly, she withdrew her hand.

Frederick tried to get up from the sofa, but Amelia glanced at him coolly and instructed, "Don't move."

Her tone carried a hint of sternness.

Frederick, just about to prop himself up, immediately lay back down.

Seeing Frederick so obedient, Felix admired Amelia even more. In this world, probably only she could make Frederick listen.

Amelia took a seat on the opposite sofa, glancing at the time. “Your body is so weak now. Don’t you know to take better care of yourself?”

Frederick remained silent.

Felix quickly explained, "Mr. Hastings waited for you in the hotel's pavilion for a long time last night. When you didn't come, he kept waiting, so he caught a cold."

Amelia's expression remained indifferent, her tone calm without any emotional fluctuation. "So it's my fault then."

Felix's expression stiffened slightly as he said quickly, "No, I didn't mean that."

He wouldn't dare blame Amelia.

Felix was now extremely cautious, afraid of offending Amelia.

After a few minutes, Amelia got up and walked over to take out the thermometer.

Frederick's gaze followed Amelia's movements.

Seeing his high temperature of 104 degrees, Amelia put down the thermometer, took out the medicine from the packaging, prepared it, and placed it on the table.

"Get up and take your medicine," she said lightly.

Hearing that, Frederick struggled to sit up, reaching for the medicine on the table and swallowing it.

Felix quickly poured a glass of water and handed it to Frederick.

Frederick reached out and took it.

After watching him swallow the medicine, Amelia looked away and said calmly, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."

As she said that, she stepped towards the door.

Frederick had just swallowed the medicine, and a bitter taste spread in his mouth.

Felix almost immediately called out to Amelia. "Ms. Davis, there's something else."

Amelia stopped and looked at Felix, asking, "What is it?"

Frederick also looked up at Felix.

Under pressure, Felix forced a smile and said, "I have something to do."

Amelia looked at him quietly and asked, "Aren't you feeling well either?"

Frederick had stayed in the pavilion for a long time last night, and Felix had probably stayed with him for a while, too.

The temperature had dropped a bit last night, so Amelia instinctively thought Felix might also be unwell.

Felix shook his head. He just wanted to give Amelia and Frederick some time alone. So he replied, "It's something with the branch office. I need to go to deal with it. With Mr. Hastings in this condition, I'm not at ease. Ms. Davis, could you..."

Amelia cut him off, "Just help him to bed for a nap."

With that, she walked out of the suite without looking back.

Felix's expression was quite complex.

Frederick felt the bitter taste of the medicine spreading in his throat again.

And this time, the bitterness was even more intense and unbearable than before.
