Chapter 404 Do You Not Know Where You Stand?

Ken's assistant maintained a calm expression, as if he couldn't feel Dylan's anger. Holding the door open, he politely said, "Mr. Kingsley, please get in the car."

Dylan noticed the crowd around him starting to pull out their phones to take pictures. His expression shifted from angry to alarmed in an instant. Without wasting a moment, he quickly slipped into the car.

Ken's assistant then walked to the front passenger seat and sat down, signaling the driver to start the car.

The car door closed, and the driver drove away from the hospital.

Dylan sat in the car, clenching and unclenching his hands. He asked angrily, "What time is my flight?" He had never expected Ken to abandon him and return to Fondaniss with Line first.

He gritted his teeth but had to accept it, feeling that Line was behind this.

The assistant respectfully answered his question. "Tomorrow morning."

Dylan cast a dissatisfied look in the direction of the front passenger seat.

Ken's assistant didn't turn his head to look at him while speaking. Although his words were respectful, his demeanor gave the opposite effect.

Dylan spoke in a much colder tone. "Ken just called me and said it would be tonight. Why has it been changed to tomorrow morning?" He was a bit agitated, looking at the assistant with anger.

The assistant remained calm and indifferent, seemingly not caring that Dylan was angry. "It was supposed to be tonight's flight, but it got canceled for some reason, so we can only leave tomorrow. I have arranged everything. You can rest at the hotel tonight, and we will leave first thing in the morning."

Dylan clenched his fists tightly before suddenly reaching out to grab the assistant's collar. "I need to fly to Fondaniss tonight. I don't care what lengths you have to go through to make it happen, but it has to be tonight."

The assistant's calm face finally showed a slight ripple of emotion as Dylan grabbed his collar. He turned his head to glance at Dylan with a hint of disdain in his pale blue eyes. "There's nothing I can do about it," he coldly replied to Dylan, reaching out to pull Dylan's hand off his collar.

Dylan frowned.

After a few seconds, the assistant said. "Mr. Kingsley, do you not know where you stand in this situation?"

The assistant then looked away from Dylan, his eyes showing displeasure and contempt for Dylan.

Dylan sat in his seat, feeling stunned and deflated.

All the way back to the hotel, Dylan didn't say another word.

The assistant, on the other hand, acted as if nothing had happened. After arriving at the hotel, he still got out to open Dylan's car door, as if they hadn't just had argued mere minutes earlier.

He was polite and respectful, his tone calm. "Mr. Kingsley, we have arrived at the hotel."

Dylan gritted his teeth, glaring at the assistant as he stepped out of the car. His voice was strained with suppressed fury. "I will tell Ken about everything that happened in the car," he snarled.

The assistant remained unflustered, keeping his head bowed with a serene demeanor. "I only stated the facts. Nothing I said was meant as a slight to you," he replied. "However, if you would like to air your grievances against me to Mr. Angoulême, please feel free to do so."

The assistant's unflappable attitude, combined with his respectful bow, only seemed to fuel Dylan's anger more. With a deep, frustrated breath, Dylan took out his phone to call Ken, but Ken's phone was still off.

He tightly gripped his phone and walked toward the elevator.

The elevator door opened, and Line's assistant walked out. Seeing Dylan, he gave a mocking smile and then quickened his pace to leave.

Dylan frowned even more.

At General Hospital, Amelia returned to her office after seeing Dylan off. As she passed the nurse's station, she saw several nurses gathered together, looking at their phones.

Amelia lightly coughed, and the nurses immediately put their phones away. Seeing that it was Amelia, they relaxed.

Amelia was the most lenient of all the doctors. Even if she caught them slacking off, she wouldn't say much.

"Dr. Davis, you scared us. We thought it was the head nurse," one of them admitted, sighing in relief.

Amelia smiled. These nurses worked hard when it was busy, so it was normal for them to take some time out to relax when it wasn't.

"What are you watching?" Amelia asked softly.

The nurses hesitated, and one of them spoke first. "Dr. Davis, are you friends with Dr. Kingsley from pediatrics?"

As soon as she spoke, another nurse tried to pull her away, clearly not wanting her to say more.

Amelia observed this and looked a bit puzzled, but from their behavior, she could tell it had something to do with Dylan. "What happened to him?" she asked, concern lacing her voice.

Another nurse quickly shook her head and said, "Nothing. We just saw a video in our chat group, but it might be fake."

Amelia frowned and asked, "Can you send me the video?"

The nurse who spoke first immediately agreed. "Sure."

The others looked a bit hesitant, seemingly wary of Amelia.

Amelia understood their concerns and whispered. "I'll just say I saw it in the chat group myself. I won't mention you."

With that reassurance, the nurses relaxed a bit. After all, they had heard that Dylan and Frederick were cousins. Gossiping about him could bring unnecessary trouble, particularly because General Hospital had been particularly stringent about maintaining professional conduct lately.

After a while, Amelia received the video from the nurse. She opened it and thanked her as she walked back to her office.

The video was taken secretly, showing Dylan sitting next to Ken, with Line asking Ken who Dylan was.

Dylan, perhaps wanting to assert his position, leaned closer to Ken and asked Ken to introduce him to Line.

In the video, Ken and Line's faces had been censored, so Ken's expression couldn't be seen clearly.

But it was obvious that Ken pushed Dylan away, trying to keep some distance.

This rejection seemed to infuriate Dylan. He snapped, "Honey, tell her what our relationship is!"
