Chapter 491 Someone Asked Me to Monitor You

Frederick was taken aback by Amelia's words..

For a moment, he just stood there, frozen.

Then, he leaned in and kissed her passionately, pulling her close.

The kiss felt like it lasted forever, each second filled with unspoken promises and a deep, lingering need.

When they finally pulled apart, Frederick's voice was rough, thick with emotions he hadn't yet dealt with.

"I really don't want to go back," he admitted, his reluctance obvious.

Amelia gave him a knowing smile, her voice husky. "Then find a way to speed things up," she urged. "No matter what you do, I believe in you."

Frederick looked into Amelia's determined eyes and leaned in for another kiss.

All this time, Frederick had been careful with Amelia's feelings, never going all out. But now, with her words, he felt free to do what needed to be done.

"I promise, no matter what, I won't let you down," he vowed.

Amelia let go of Frederick and said softly, "Go quickly, and don't get caught."

Frederick nodded, pulled his hand back, and after one more kiss, reluctantly left.

Amelia stood there, watching Frederick's back as he walked away from Hastings Manor.

After he left, Amelia turned back inside and picked up Anna. She asked softly, "Mommy, did you and Daddy make up?"

Anna had sensed something was off between Frederick and Amelia earlier and thought they had fought.

With spies in Davis Manor, Amelia worried Anna might accidentally spill the beans, so she said softly, "I won't forgive him that easily."

Anna listened and whispered, "But Daddy got hit by Great Grandma. Daddy will behave."

Amelia looked at Anna's determined eyes and smiled slightly. "Whether he behaves or not depends on his actions."

Anna pouted, unsure how to plead for Frederick.

On the drive back, Anna's thoughts stayed on the perceived discord, so she kept asking Amelia what it would take to forgive him.

Amelia gently caressed Anna's hair, her eyes full of tenderness. "Anna, just know that no matter what happens between me and your daddy, he will always love you. Don't let my feelings affect you, okay?"

Anna nodded.

As they neared Davis Manor, Terrence, their loyal driver, seemed unusually preoccupied. He had seen Frederick leave Hastings Manor earlier, looking battered and defeated. Now, hearing Amelia and Anna's conversation, he couldn't shake a growing sense of dread.

If rumors about Amelia and Frederick's situation spread, the Davis Family could be in real trouble.

The last time the Davis Family got through a tough time was by leveraging the Hastings Family. This time, they might not be so lucky.

Terrence pulled up to the Davis Manor entrance and parked the car.

Amelia tried to open the door but realized it was still locked. Confused, she looked up to see Terrence lost in thought. "Terrence," she called softly, snapping him out of it.

Terrence quickly unlocked the door and hurried to the back to open it for her.

Noticing his distracted behavior, Amelia felt a bit uneasy.

She stepped out with Anna and gave him a polite smile. "Thanks, Terrence. You can take a break now."

Terrence nodded, walking away with a heavy heart. Amelia carried Anna inside, but she felt an unsettling gaze on her back. She turned and saw Terrence still watching her.

Just then, Susan came out of the house and quickly took Anna from her arms.

"What's wrong?" Susan asked, seeing the concern on Amelia's face.

"Nothing," Amelia whispered. "Take Anna inside first." Susan nodded and led Anna away.

Taking a deep breath, Amelia turned back to Terrence, who hadn't moved. Sensing he had something important to say, she approached him and asked calmly, "Terrence, do you have something to tell me?"

Terrence hesitated, then spoke, "Ms. Davis, after thinking it over, I've decided to resign. Thank you and your family for everything."

Amelia looked puzzled. "Why the sudden decision to resign?"

Terrence had been with the Davis Family for years, always diligent and without any recent issues. His sudden resignation was surprising.

Terrence's eyes showed his inner conflict. "No special reason, Ms. Davis. I've been driving for many years, and I think I'm just tired," he said, but Amelia wasn't convinced. She saw the guilt in his eyes.

"Has someone contacted you recently?" she asked, her voice steady.

Terrence's expression tightened, and he nodded. "Yes, someone called and asked me to monitor you. The voice was strange, probably altered."

Amelia's heart sank. She knew this was serious. "Did you meet this person?" she asked.

Terrence shook his head. "No, they just called. I felt guilty and couldn't betray you."

"Sorry, Ms. Davis," Terrence continued, his voice heavy with resignation. "I'm afraid of being targeted."

Amelia's expression softened. "Terrence, by telling me this, you've already helped us a lot," she reassured him.

He visibly relaxed, but the worry remained. "Take a break, Terrence. If you ever want to come back to the Davis Family, you're always welcome."

Terrence nodded, handed her the car keys, and walked away.
