Chapter 350 Go Back and Keep Dreaming
After Frederick washed the baby bottle, he took Anna upstairs to brush her teeth.
Amelia glanced at them in the bathroom, a slight smile on her lips.
Once Anna's teeth were brushed, Frederick returned to the bedroom but didn't see Amelia.
Feeling uneasy, he placed Anna on her small bed and said softly, "Anna, be a good girl and sleep. I'm going to find your mom."
Anna nodded and pointed outside the window. "Mommy is outside," she whispered.
Anna knew Amelia's habits. If she wasn't in the bedroom, she was definitely on the balcony.
Frederick walked to the balcony and saw Amelia there, leaning on the railing, looking at the stars.
She heard Frederick's footsteps, turned, and asked softly, "Is Anna asleep?"
Frederick replied, "Not yet. I didn't see you in the room, so I came to check."
Amelia said, "Then I'll go in and put her to sleep."
Frederick quickly suggested, "I heard there's a meteor shower tonight. How about I bring Anna out to watch it?"
Without waiting for Amelia's response, he went inside, picked up Anna, who was arranging her comforter, and brought her to the balcony.
Anna looked confused, holding Frederick's neck tightly.
Frederick rubbed her head, "Let's go to the balcony and watch the meteor shower with your mom."
He wrapped Anna in her comforter to keep her warm.
Amelia sat on a chair on the balcony. Seeing Frederick bring Anna out, she reached to take her, but Frederick sat down with Anna in his arms.
Anna was wrapped tightly in the comforter, only her little head exposed.
Amelia looked at Anna's adorable face and felt her heart melt. She gently rubbed Anna's head, "Not sleepy now?"
Anna shook her head, "With Mommy and Uncle Frederick, I'm not sleepy."
Frederick bent down and kissed Anna's head, "When I'm with Anna and Anna's mom, I'm not sleepy at all."
Anna shyly smiled and used the comforter to cover her face.
Amelia chuckled and turned her gaze back to the starry sky.
They sat quietly, and every few minutes, Anna asked, "Uncle Frederick, where's the meteor shower?"
Frederick replied, "Wait a bit longer; it will come soon."
A minute later, Anna asked again, "Uncle Frederick, when will the meteor shower come?"
Frederick said, "It should be soon."
Anna yawned, "Will the meteor shower bring down little stars?"
Frederick nodded, "Yes, lots of little stars."
Hearing this, Anna perked up and waited quietly.
After a while, the meteor shower still hadn't come, and Anna yawned continuously.
She found a comfortable position in Frederick's arms and, too sleepy to stay awake, fell asleep.
Not hearing Anna's voice, Frederick looked down at the little girl curled up in his arms and smiled.
"The meteor shower is here," Amelia said softly. Frederick looked up and saw the meteors.
Amelia smiled, glanced at the sleeping Anna, and was about to speak when Frederick leaned in and kissed her.
The cool touch made Amelia pause.
Frederick only gave her a light kiss, still feeling the sting from the bite he got at Hastings Manor.
A glimmer of light flickered in Amelia's eyes. She bit her lip, looked away, and felt her heart race.
Frederick had never watched a night sky like this with Amelia before.
Now, with Amelia by his side and their child in his arms, Frederick felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment, as if this was how their life was meant to be.
Unfortunately, his past mistakes had kept him away from them for a long time.
Frederick murmured, "I heard if you make a wish on a meteor shower, it will come true. I just..."
Before he could finish, Amelia interrupted, "Since when did Mr. Hastings believe in such things?"
Frederick looked at her and said softly, "I didn't believe in it, but I hope my wish can come true."
Amelia glanced at him and asked, "Don't you know if you say your wish out loud, it won't come true?"
Frederick moved his lips but then fell silent.
Seeing his hesitant expression, Amelia smiled and said, "Take Anna to bed. It's getting cold, and she might catch a cold."
Frederick nodded, stood up with Anna, took a few steps, and then stopped to ask, "What about me?"
Amelia looked confused. "What about you?"
Frederick looked at her sincerely. "Can I put myself in your bed?"
Amelia went silent, her heart pounding.
Seeing her not answering, Frederick stood quietly, waiting.
Finally, Amelia met his gaze, a hint of defiance in her voice. "Is Mr. Hastings so eager to share a bed?"
Frederick nodded seriously, his eyes filled with longing. "I dream about it."
Hearing this, Amelia chuckled softly. She stood up and walked to Frederick's side.
As she stood before him, his heart pounded.
Amelia's smile was warm, a flicker of mischief in her eyes.
Frederick's brows lifted with a hint of joy. "Did you agree?"
Amelia gently shook her head, her voice soft. "No, I want you to go back and keep dreaming."
A cloud of disappointment passed over Frederick's face. He hadn't expected it to be easy.
As Amelia saw his expression, her smile deepened, and she walked into the room.
She went to Anna's small bed, tidied it up, and signaled Frederick to put Anna down.
Frederick stood beside Amelia with Anna in his arms, unwilling to go home and dream.
"Amelia," he spoke softly, his tone a bit pleading.
Amelia turned, her expression composed. "Put Anna down and go home. Be safe on the way," she said steadily.
