Chapter 81 He Gazed Intently at Amelia

As Frederick's good friend, Scott was certainly aware of Rachel and Frederick's marital situation. He was the only one she could get information from.

" Rachel?" Scott was momentarily confused and asked with some doubt.

Unaware of the confusion, Amber continued to inquire, "Yes. Haven't you seen the recent entertainment news?"

Scott smiled and replied, "Oh, you're talking about that."

Amber softly answered, "Yes. So many people have been asking me about the marriage status of Rachel and Frederick. I couldn't find anyone else to ask, so I came to you."

Scott smiled. He probably understood Amber's intentions.

He shifted to a more comfortable position on the couch and replied softly, "Aren't you working under Rachel? If you're so curious, why don't you just ask her yourself?"

Amber remained silent for a few seconds.

"You know, things are awkward between Frederick and me, and Ms. Rachel Davis doesn't really like me. I don't dare to ask her, lest she misunderstand my intentions."

Scott laughed and said, "Misunderstand? Do you not have any other intentions?"

Amber was choked by his words. She took a deep breath, feeling somewhat displeased.

Recently, Frederick's attitude towards her had changed, which she could understand. However, Scott, who had always been friendly and gentle towards her, also changed his attitude.

She lightly bit her lip, suppressing her anger, and said, "If you don't want to say, then forget it. I'll just ask someone else."

Scott raised an eyebrow, played with the pen on the table, and said, "They got divorced. That's why Frederick's been in such a bad mood lately."

Upon hearing the news of Frederick's divorce, a gleam of joy flashed in Amber's eyes. But upon hearing Scott mention that Frederick's mood had been bad because of the divorce, she felt a bit frustrated.

Scott didn't wait for Amber's answer and said blandly, "Amber, I think I understand why Rachel wants to keep you at Ascending Company."

Amber didn't quite understand Scott's words and felt confused.

"Why?" she asked instinctively, but Scott ended the call directly, clearly not intending to explain further.

Amber put down her phone, dissatisfied, and returned to her office.

Apart from the announcement released by the Davis Group stating that Rachel was single, neither Frederick nor Rachel responded to the rumors, which made the situation more complicated and confusing.

Shortly after Vincent returned home, Frederick also arrived.

Vincent hadn't been working at the Davis Group for some time and was somewhat unaware of the company's direction of development.

After all, it was the era of youth and the internet. Some of Vincent's ideas were outdated in this era. This was also why he failed.

Frederick came to the Davis Manor and explained some things to Vincent during dinner.

Although he was speaking to Vincent, he occasionally glanced at Amelia.

In front of Amelia was a plate of steamed sea bass. She was slowly savoring the fish and would frown when she encountered fish bones.

Frederick looked at her impatience and thought of what she had said in the morning, feeling somewhat upset.

He thought to himself, "She used to always be so gentle, but recently she seems to have become a bit irritable."

Frederick picked up a piece of fish, removed the bones carefully, and then pushed it to Amelia's side.

He completed this gesture while discussing work matters with Vincent.

Amelia looked at the deboned fish in front of her and couldn't help but look up at Frederick.

He was still in conversation with Vincent. Frederick was very knowledgeable about the future development and prospects of Davis Group. He could even accurately predict Rachel's next plans and actions.

Vincent furrowed his brows slightly and thought, "Someone like him, if he becomes the Davis Group's competitor, will surely completely defeat Davis Group."

If Frederick had taken advantage of the opportunity to make a move when the Davis Group had been in trouble, Davis Group might have already become history by now.

Vincent sighed and looked at Frederick with a heavy gaze.

Frederick's deep eyes locked onto Amelia for a moment.

Amelia bowed her head and savored the well-prepared fish, feeling the wrinkles on her forehead gradually relax.

Frederick breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to himself, "So she likes fish after all."

Vincent looked at Frederick, his eyes filled with concern for Amelia, and he also felt relieved.

After finishing her meal, Amelia supported herself on the table and stood up, causing the chair to make a squeaking sound against the floor. Frederick furrowed his brow and immediately tried to assist her.

"Be careful," he said.

Amelia nodded gently and replied, "You guys can stay and enjoy your meal, I'm already full." She withdrew her hand from Frederick's and laboriously moved toward the living room.

Frederick silently watched her back until she had sat down on the couch before shifting his gaze back to Vincent to continue their conversation.

After dinner, Frederick and Vincent exited the dining room together. Susan was massaging Amelia's ankle and applying ice.

Frederick noticed that the medicine he had brought was still in its original place, feeling somewhat puzzled. "Why aren't you using the medication I gave you?"

Amelia didn't answer him. Susan immediately explained, "Mr. Hastings, the medication we are using now is also effective, so we haven't needed to use the one you brought for the time being."

Frederick furrowed his brow slightly upon hearing this. He saw the bottle of medicine he brought placed next to an unopened one. He remembered that yesterday, Daniel had placed that bottle of medicine on the table.

Seeing that Amelia hadn't used the medicine from Daniel either, Frederick's anger subsided a bit. He walked over to Amelia's side, stooping down to inspect her ankle and noticed that it was no longer as swollen as it was yesterday. The surrounding bruising had also faded slightly, which put his mind at ease.

"You have to take it easy and not walk around," he advised in a low voice.

Amelia raised an eyebrow, feeling uncertain as she looked at his serious gaze and concerned expression. In the three years of their marriage, he had never shown such concern for her before.

Amelia sighed and politely replied, "Alright, thank you for reminding me."

Frederick furrowed his brow. He was somewhat unhappy with her cold words.

After Rachel settled everything in Fondaniss, she called Amelia. Amelia answered the phone. They had a joyful conversation while Frederick sat on the sofa opposite Amelia, attentively watching her.

She laughed happily, her eyes filled with envy for Megan's wedding.

Frederick watched her smile, feeling a bit lost. He couldn't help but remember when they had just gotten married, how she was also filled with anticipation and longing for their wedding. She would even share some wedding decorations and videos with him.

Then, seeing his lack of response, she gave up on the idea of having a wedding.

Looking back now on his indifference at the time, he felt somewhat guilty. During their three years of marriage, Amelia had truly been trying to make it work with him, but he chose to disregard her efforts.
