Chapter 479 Unable to Escape Their Surveillance

The young nurse looked a bit awkward. She put her phone away and stood quietly, waiting for Amelia to sign.

Amelia entered Scott's number into the system and handed back his Driver's License. "Head downstairs to the exam room for your tests. Some results will be ready in a few minutes, others will take longer. The hospital will call you when everything's ready."

With that, Amelia picked up the document.

After checking the information, she signed and handed the document back to the nurse with a smile.

Noticing her smile towards the nurse, Scott grumbled, "Amelia, you still have a problem with me. I saved you that day, and now I'm your patient. I don't expect you to be super nice, but you don't have to be so cold, right?"

"So, Mr. Sinclair, how do you want me to treat you?" Amelia shot back.

Seeing the clear detachment in her eyes, Scott sighed inwardly, knowing that pushing her would only make things worse. "I haven't figured it out yet. I'll let you know next time we meet."

With that, Scott got up and left.

Amelia's expression didn't change, showing no significant reaction to Scott.

Instead of heading to the exam room, Scott took the elevator straight to the first floor.

Once out of the elevator, he pulled out his phone and called Nancy. "You need to speed things up on your end. It'd be best if you could get engaged to Frederick sooner."

Nancy scoffed, "Are you kidding? Who do you think Frederick is? How long have I known him? How could we possibly get engaged so quickly?"

Scott's face darkened a bit. "Didn't you say you were determined to win him over?"

Nancy snorted. "But that doesn't mean I should rush and mess up the plan, Mr. Sinclair. You've waited so many years; why can't you wait a bit longer now that things are critical?"

Scott fell silent. Nancy seemed to read his thoughts and laughed. "Did you get the short end of the stick with Amelia?"

Before Scott could answer, he saw Sebastian walking toward him. His expression changed slightly, and he quickly ended the call and put away his phone.

Scott tried to act casual as he walked toward Sebastian. "Sebastian, you not feeling well too?" he asked.

Sebastian stopped, and when Scott reached out to pat his shoulder, Sebastian raised his hand to stop him. "I advise you to drop this idea soon, or we won't even be able to be friends."

Scott raised an eyebrow but kept his expression unchanged, smiling instead. "If we can't be friends, then so be it. Besides, Frederick probably never considered me a true friend from the start. Frederick is pretty selfish, and he's been getting along well with Nancy lately. Isn't that his choice? He only takes advantage of Amelia's indecisiveness in relationships. Otherwise, Amelia would have broken up with him and cut ties a long time ago."

Sebastian felt a sharp sting from Scott's words, a sudden pain in his heart. Scott seemed to catch on and quickly apologized, "Sorry, Sebastian, I didn't mean to upset you."

Scott sighed, feeling helpless. "It's a shame things between you and Rachel ended up like this. Rachel can be impulsive. Even though you and Clara had a thing back then, you haven't been in touch with her for years. Rachel must have her reasons, so..." He trailed off, patted Sebastian's shoulder, and turned to leave.

Sebastian stood there in silence for a long time, his hand clenched tightly at his side, his face dark and gloomy.

After a few steps, Scott stopped and turned back to look at Sebastian, a cold smile flashing in his eyes. "Sebastian, you still have a chance. If you can disrupt Charles and Rachel's collaboration and reduce their interactions, won't your opportunity come?"

Scott smiled and walked away, leaving Sebastian standing there alone.

When Tina came to pick up some documents, she saw Scott driving away and Sebastian walking toward his car with a gloomy expression.

After parking her car, Tina got out. Sebastian's car passed by just as she did. Seeing Tina, Sebastian suddenly braked and stopped beside her, rolling down the window. "Ms. Davis sent you to pick up the documents?" he asked.

Tina nodded, looking at Sebastian with a hint of gratitude in her eyes. "Yes, Mr. Kingsley. Ms. Davis asked me to thank you on her behalf."

Sebastian tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "If she wants to thank me, she should do it in person."

Tina smiled awkwardly and responded softly, "I'll relay the message to Ms. Davis."

Sebastian grunted, stepped on the gas, and drove away. Watching his car leave, Tina's grateful smile faded, and she walked into the hospital.

Amelia was waiting for Tina in her office. When she saw Tina approaching, she took out the documents from her drawer and handed them to her. Just as Amelia was about to speak, Tina spoke first, "I just ran into Mr. Sinclair downstairs. Is he here for a check-up?"

Amelia didn't really want to talk about Scott and replied indifferently, "Yeah. He probably doesn't feel well from staying up late." Then she couldn't help but ask, "Is everything okay with Rachel?"

Recently, the Ascending Company's project had been halted, leading to many negative speculations about the collaboration between the Davis Group and the Hastings Group.

These century-old families had survived largely due to their impeccable sense of timing, so even if it was just for show, the Davis Group's situation hadn't been very optimistic lately.

Tina responded calmly, "Ms. Rachel Davis is fine. You don't need to worry. We have a meeting at the company later, so I need to head back."

Amelia nodded and saw Tina off. As they walked out of the office together, Tina whispered to Amelia, "Ms. Rachel Davis wanted me to remind you to be careful."

Amelia was startled by Tina's words and then nodded in realization. They had already planted people and listening devices in the Davis Manor, so her open office environment was certainly not exempt from their surveillance.
