Chapter 489 Let Me Feel It Again
Frederick glanced down at Anna, who was snuggled up in his arms, nervously fidgeting with her fingers and avoiding his gaze.
He couldn't help but smile, but the stinging pain on his face made him gasp.
Anna immediately looked up, her big eyes full of worry. "Does it hurt a lot?" she asked.
Frederick saw the concern in her eyes and nodded slightly. "Yeah, it hurts so much."
Anna's lips quivered, and her eyes filled with tears. Earlier, Amelia had warned her that Frederick might get hurt, and she had been on edge ever since. Even though she was upset with him for ignoring her lately, she never wanted him to be in pain.
Seeing her tears start to fall, Frederick panicked. "Oh, sweetie, don't cry. I was just joking. It's not that bad," he comforted quickly.
As her tears continued to fall, Frederick's heart ached. He whispered, "My little princess, please don't cry. It breaks my heart."
Tom noticed the red mark on Frederick's face and rushed to get some medicine.
Amelia walked over calmly while Frederick tried to soothe Anna. She gently took Frederick's chin, turning his face to inspect the injury, her eyes narrowing with concern.
"Did you let Grandma hit you that hard?" she asked, her voice soft but worried. Brittany was strict, but she wouldn't hit Frederick's face so hard.
Frederick didn't answer directly but tried to reassure her. "It's not that bad, don't worry."
Amelia sighed, looking at him seriously.
Just then, Brittany came out of the study, giving Frederick a stern but resigned look before wheeling past him.
He smiled at her and said, "Grandma, please don't be mad. I know I messed up."
Brittany sighed deeply and chose to ignore him. Anna, still sniffling, said in her small voice, "Great Grandma, I'm not mad anymore, so you shouldn't be either."
Brittany's stern expression softened as she took Anna's tiny hand and nodded. She waved gently, indicating she wasn't upset anymore. Anna's face lit up with a smile.
Tom returned and set a small box on the table. "Mrs. Amelia Hastings, the medicine box is here," he said.
"Thanks, Tom," Amelia replied, taking Frederick's hand and leading him to the table. He held Anna in one arm and Amelia's hand in the other, feeling a comforting warmth spread from his palm into hers. She tried to ignore the flutter in her chest and focused.
At the table, she gently prompted, "How can I put the medicine on if you keep holding my hand?"
Frederick reluctantly let go, and Amelia started cleaning his wound with disinfectant, carefully applying the medicine. Anna helped by blowing on his face, trying to cool the sting. The moment was tender, and Amelia's touch was soothing.
Once they finished with the medicine, dinner was ready in the kitchen.
Mary walked into the living room and said respectfully, "Mrs. Brittany Hastings, dinner is ready."
Amelia was packing up the medical supplies and turned to Frederick. "Take Anna to wash her hands."
Frederick nodded and carried Anna to the bathroom to wash her hands.
Tom wanted to help Amelia pack up the medical box, but she smiled at him. "You go take care of Grandma. I know where to put the medical box."
Tom nodded with a kind smile and went to take care of Brittany.
After packing up the medical box, Amelia put it back in its place and headed to the bathroom to wash her hands.
Frederick had already seated Anna in a high chair in the dining room. Seeing Amelia heading to the bathroom, he put Anna down and followed her.
Amelia was standing at the sink, washing her hands. Frederick wrapped one arm around her waist, hugging her tightly and resting his head on her neck. Amelia's heartbeat quickened as she looked at him in the mirror. "What's wrong?" she asked softly.
Instead of answering, Frederick lifted her chin and kissed her passionately. Afraid of being caught, she tried to pull away. However, Frederick held her firmly.
"Frederick," Amelia whispered against his lips, her apprehension clear. Finally, he let go, but only slightly.
"Stay here tonight. Don't go back," his voice was hoarse, filled with longing as their noses nearly touched.
"I still have to go back, and you need to leave before us," she responded gently.
Frederick took a deep breath, bit Amelia's red lips in retaliation, and whined. "Can't you be less rational? You always make me feel like you don't love me as much as you used to."
Seeing the sadness in his eyes, Amelia's expression softened. She leaned in to kiss him. "Can't you tell if I love you or not? When did you become so insecure?"
Frederick's eyes warmed at her words. He tightened his embrace, holding her completely. "I can't feel it. Let me feel it again," he whispered and leaned in for another kiss.
Amelia couldn't help but smile, giving in to his lips. What started as a simple kiss escalated as Frederick held on, refusing to let go. He poured all his pent-up emotions into the kiss, making Amelia's heart race.
