Chapter 282 Amber's Fan

Amelia shot him a cold look. "You've done way more annoying things than just this."

Scott frowned, his dark brown eyes locked on her. "Amelia, we've known each other longer than you've known Frederick. No matter how much you hate me, I've never done anything to hurt you."

Amelia sneered. Scott was always vengeful, and she didn't believe he had nothing to do with her schoolmate's death.

He hid it well, acting kind but being ruthless inside.

Such a person was too dangerous, and Amelia wanted nothing to do with him.

If she could choose, she would rather have never met Scott or saved him.

She replied flatly, "Hurting the people around me is hurting me. Do you need a reason to hate someone?"

Scott's smile faltered, but he quickly chuckled. "No, you don't."

Back in his teenage years, Scott was a troublemaker who got into fights.

He had once been ambushed and thrown into a ditch, and Amelia happened to pass by and save him. One of her classmates was among those who ambushed him.

The Sinclair family had grown through illegal activities, and Scott rarely suffered losses, so he didn't let those who ambushed him off the hook.

He hadn't expected the thugs sent by his family to catch that person at Amelia's school gate and beat him up.

Nor had he expected them to mention his name during the fight, with Amelia witnessing it.

Scott touched his chin, his gaze intense on Amelia. "I remember how frail you were when you carried me to get help. I always thought you wouldn't hate me that much."

Amelia looked away. Seeing Maria's examination report on her computer, she ignored Scott.

"I need to work. Don't disturb me," she said calmly.

Scott looked at her cold and arrogant demeanor, took a cigarette from the pack, and put it in his mouth.

"No smoking in the hospital," Amelia reminded coldly.

Scott bit the cigarette. "I'm not lighting it."

Amelia didn't respond.

Scott smiled helplessly, took the cigarette out, put it back in the pack, and looked at her. "Are you sure you won't give me an examination order?"

Amelia still didn't respond.

Scott was amused by her attitude. "Amelia, you lack professional ethics as a doctor. If you don't give me an examination order today, I'll sit here and not leave."

He put his feet up on her desk, looking arrogant.

Amelia didn't even glance at him, picked up the documents on her desk, and left the office.

She walked to the nurse's station and quietly told the nurse on duty, "There's a troublemaker in my office. Please have security escort him out."

The nurse on duty nodded.

Amelia took the examination report to the temporary office of the treatment team and didn't return to her office.

It was twenty minutes before lunchtime.

Felix sent her a message on time, along with a few menus.

Felix: [Ms. Davis, these are the dishes Mr. Hastings likes. I'm a bit busy today and out on fieldwork, so please personally deliver the meal to Mr. Hastings.]

Seeing the message, Amelia raised an eyebrow. It was clear Felix was worried she would forget to deliver the meal to Frederick and was deliberately reminding her.

Amelia: [Okay.]

She replied to Felix's message and put away her phone.

At noon, Amelia clocked out on time, picked up the meal from the restaurant, and headed to Hastings Group.

As soon as she stepped into the entrance, Laura stopped her at the door.

"Sorry, miss, you can't go in."

Laura's polite smile didn't match her firm stance, blocking Amelia's way. Amelia raised an eyebrow.

"I am..."

Before she could say she was Frederick's attending physician, Laura cut her off. "Sorry, miss, no matter who you are, our leader has instructed that no unauthorized persons are allowed inside."

Amelia frowned at the interruption. "Why don't you call the president's office to confirm before deciding whether to let me in?"

Laura gave Amelia a once-over.

Every day, many beautiful women like Amelia tried to see Frederick with all sorts of tricks, but they were always seen through.

These women had no sense of decency, completely lacking the manners of Amber.

Recently, Amber had been having conflicts with Frederick, so Laura had to keep an eye on these restless women and not let them take advantage.

Reluctantly, she walked to the front desk, pretended to call the president's office, muttered a few words, then put down the phone and looked at Amelia.

"Leave the items, and you can go," Laura said.

Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly and placed the lunchbox on the front desk.

Laura looked at Amelia and said in a low voice, "Put it on that table over there."

Amelia looked at the table Laura had pointed to, which was filled with lunch boxes and gift boxes.

Seeing the surprise in Amelia's eyes, Laura smiled. "These are all things others have sent to Mr. Hastings, delivered on time every day. But Mr. Hastings never eats what they send."

Amelia's expression remained calm, showing no reaction.

Laura added, "But there is one exception. The items sent by Ms. Roberts are always delivered to the president's office."

Amelia responded with an "Oh" and looked at Laura, "Are you a fan of Amber?"

Laura maintained a professional fake smile and didn't answer Amelia's question.

Amelia withdrew her gaze, placed the lunchbox on the table, and turned to leave the Hastings Group building.

The manager, who had just returned from the restroom, saw Amelia leaving and was shocked. He quickly chased after her.

"Ms. Davis, Ms. Davis, wait a moment, please," he exclaimed.

Laura's expression turned subtle when she saw the manager chasing after Amelia.

Amelia stopped.

The manager, panting, ran up to her. "I was handling a small matter just now and didn't see you arrive. I'm very sorry for not welcoming you personally. I'll take you to the president's office now."

Before leaving, Felix had personally instructed him to make sure Amelia entered Mr. Hastings' office, or he would be fired.

In just those two minutes, he almost had to say goodbye to his job.

Amelia raised her eyebrow, "Didn't Laura just call the president's office and tell me to leave the items and go?"

The manager quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Ms. Davis. She must have misheard. I'll have her apologize to you right away."

As he spoke, the manager signaled to the receptionist to come over.

Laura, not expecting to encounter a guest of Mr. Hastings today, lowered her head and walked over to apologize to Amelia. "Sorry."

Just as she started, Amelia, mimicking her earlier manner, smiled and interrupted her. "No need to apologize. I'd like to see the call log to check if you really called the president's office."

Laura turned pale instantly.
