Chapter 293 He Didn't Sleep Well Last Night

In the next morning, when Amelia woke up, she saw Anna tiptoeing toward the bedroom door in her little slippers.

"Anna, you're awake?" Amelia called out.

Anna turned around, her face lighting up with a bright smile. She rushed to Amelia's bedside and climbed up quickly.

"Mommy," she said, snuggling into Amelia's arms.

Earlier, when Anna woke up and saw Amelia still sleeping, she remembered that her grandpa and Susan had told her not to disturb Amelia because she had worked hard during the day. So, she decided to go find Susan and Vincent without waking Amelia.

Amelia held her for a while before getting up to wash up. After getting ready, she took Anna's hand and headed downstairs.

As they reached the corner of the stairs, they heard voices from downstairs discussing business matters. Frederick's deep, serious voice stood out, with Rachel chiming in occasionally.

Anna's eyes lit up. "Mommy, it's Uncle Frederick!"

Anna really liked Frederick. She let go of Amelia's hand and hurried down the stairs.

Seeing her eagerness, Amelia bit her lip lightly, a hint of helplessness in her eyes.

"Uncle Frederick!" Anna called out.

Frederick, who was discussing an economic cooperation meeting with Rachel, wrapped up his conversation and walked toward the staircase. He took a few steps forward and picked Anna up with one hand.

Anna hugged Frederick's neck tightly. He looked at Amelia and gave her a warm smile. "Did you sleep well last night?"

Amelia nodded. She had been so tired yesterday that she fell asleep right after her bath.

Frederick's expression softened. "I didn't sleep well last night."

Amelia looked concerned. "Is your hand bothering you? If it's really bad, I can get you some painkillers."

Frederick nodded. "Then I'll go to the hospital with you later."

"Okay," Amelia replied softly.

Frederick smiled contentedly and carried Anna to the living room, walking slowly as if waiting for Amelia.

Rachel, who was sitting on the sofa, stood up when she saw them coming down. Dressed in a black suit with her hair tied back, she exuded an elegant and sharp aura.

Amelia noticed that Rachel looked much better than before and felt relieved.

Frederick carried Anna past Rachel. Anna, engrossed in telling Frederick about a dream she had, didn't notice Rachel.

Rachel playfully patted Anna's little butt. "Now that you have Uncle Frederick, you don't need Aunt Rachel anymore, huh?"

Anna swiftly called out, "Aunt Rachel," after the playful tap.

Rachel chuckled softly and didn't hold it against her.

Amelia walked over to Rachel and spoke softly. "Did you come back last night or early this morning?"

After dropping Frederick off last night, Amelia hadn't seen Rachel's car in the garage.

"Early this morning," Rachel replied softly. She paused for a moment and then said to Amelia, "There's an economic cooperation meeting between Kasfee and Yaradia in two weeks. You'll come with me, so clear your schedule."

Amelia nodded. "Sure, as long as you don't mind my lack of knowledge."

Rachel smiled. "It's fine. Frederick will be there to guide you."

She glanced at Frederick, who was carrying Anna into the dining room. Amelia raised an eyebrow, catching Rachel's drift.

This cooperation could bring in a lot of funds quickly, and Rachel's high-end fashion brand had been thriving domestically. For the Davis Group to reach new heights, they needed to go international. This meeting was a golden opportunity, and Frederick wouldn't miss it.

Amelia glanced at Frederick, who was already seated with Anna, wiping her hands with a wet towel. Sensing her gaze, he looked over.

Rachel, unfazed by Frederick's gaze, patted Amelia's shoulder. "When the Hastings family was in trouble, we helped them without hesitation. He's benefited from you for years and even wronged you. It's time he paid some interest to our family."

In Rachel's eyes, Frederick marrying Amelia six years ago was him marrying up. He had Amber in his heart back then, so he didn't deserve Amelia's love.

Vincent saw the two sisters still chatting in the living room and called out, "Rachel, Amelia, stop chatting and come have breakfast."

Rachel withdrew her hand from Amelia's shoulder, smiled faintly, and said, "Let's go, have breakfast."

Amelia nodded and stepped into the dining room. Rachel and Amelia sat to Vincent's right, while Frederick and Anna sat to his left.

Today's breakfast was steak and fried eggs. Susan had already cut Anna's portion, and she was enjoying it with a small fork.

Frederick's right hand was injured, so he couldn't use a knife and fork. Vincent looked at Amelia and said, "Amelia, help Mr. Hastings."

Amelia nodded, cut her steak into small pieces, and pushed it in front of Frederick. Then she brought his steak to her side.

Rachel observed as Frederick deftly speared a piece of steak with his fork, popping it into his mouth. A subtle curve touched her lips, a glint of calculation dancing in her eyes.

She suddenly said, "Mr. Hastings, the project Alvin mentioned earlier, the Davis Group wants in."

Frederick's fork paused. "How much do you want to invest?"

Rachel pondered briefly, then lifted three fingers. "The Davis Group will take 30%. How about that?"

Initially, Rachel had mulled over a different split, envisioning an 80-20 split favoring Hastings. Even with a mere 20% stake, the returns looked promising, offering a modest profit with minimal risk. But now, leveraging Frederick's eagerness to woo Amelia, she upped the ante, playing the situation to their advantage.
