Chapter 438 Dylan's Death, Frederick Under Investigation
Dylan didn't make it. On the fifth day, things went south, and he was rushed to the ER, but they couldn't save him.
When Amelia got the news, she raced to the hospital. By the time she got there, Dylan was already in the morgue, waiting for the family to decide what to do next.
Harold hadn't shown up yet, but Cynthia was there, holding Dylan's lifeless body and crying her eyes out. When she saw Amelia, a flicker of hope lit up in her tear-streaked face. She reached out, pulling Amelia closer to Dylan, her voice desperate and broken.
"Amelia, save Dylan. He's not dead yet," she sobbed. "Feel him, he's still warm. How could he be dead?" Cynthia's voice grew more frantic, her grip tightening. "Amelia, I'm begging you, please save him."
She dropped to her knees, pleading with Amelia to save Dylan.
Amelia's heart broke as she checked Dylan's pulse; it was gone. She gently helped Cynthia up, speaking softly but firmly. "Mrs. Kingsley, please don't do this. Dylan wouldn't want to see you like this."
Cynthia shook her head, looking at Dylan on the bed, and gave a bitter smile. "If he cared about me being sad, he wouldn't have done this. He wasn't afraid of me being sad, that's why he did this," she said, reaching out to Dylan. "Dylan, get up. You're not a kid anymore. Stop lying there. Get up!" she cried.
When Harold arrived and saw Cynthia like that, he was furious and immediately pulled her away. He said in a low voice, "Dylan is gone. Pull yourself together and don't embarrass us."
The funeral home staff had come with Harold. They quickly prepared Dylan and carried him to the car.
Seeing them take Dylan away, Cynthia struggled to get him back.
But Cynthia hadn't been eating well, so she naturally didn't have the strength to match Harold.
In the struggle, Cynthia fainted from exhaustion. Medical staff came over to help Harold get her into a hospital room.
Harold didn't hold a funeral for Dylan. Instead, he had Dylan cremated and buried him directly in the cemetery, while Cynthia was unconscious.
Cynthia was sent back to Kingsley Manor.
After Dylan was buried, Amelia went to see her. Cynthia seemed to be doing better mentally, but she still wouldn't admit Dylan was gone, always thinking he was still in Fondaniss.
Cynthia muttered, "Dylan's been in Fondaniss for a while now. He hasn't called me. What is he busy with? When Dylan gets busy, he ignores everything else and doesn't care about me."
Hearing Cynthia's words, Amelia felt a pang of sadness and kept the conversation going. "Our work is really busy, and Dylan's a pediatrician. He must be swamped every day."
Cynthia nodded and chatted with Amelia about other things.
When Amelia left Kingsley Manor, Harold was just getting back.
As he got out of the car, he was holding some papers and walked straight into the manor.
When Amelia tried to go back, the security at the gate stopped her. "Ms. Davis, please go back."
He glanced inside and sighed, "Since Mr. Dylan Kingsley passed away, this happens twice a day. Mrs. Kingsley has gotten used to it."
Harold had been pushing Cynthia to sign the divorce papers, but she wasn't having it.
Every time Harold brought out the papers, Cynthia would act crazy, and Harold didn't know how to handle her.
Harold was really concerned about his reputation. He didn't dare take Cynthia to court over the divorce right now.
Cynthia refused to sign and wouldn't agree to the divorce, and he didn't dare to force it.
After all, Dylan's death was still fresh news.
If things got messy and Cynthia talked to the media, the story of Dylan jumping off the building at Harold's company would be all over the internet again.
Harold was worried about more stuff coming out, so he had to put up with Cynthia.
Half a month after Dylan's death, a video of Frederick beating Dylan in a hotel suddenly went viral.

The video blew up fast.
Even though the Hastings Group tried to do damage control and contacted the media to delete the video, it had already spread among netizens. Every time it was deleted, someone would re-upload it.
Everyone was slamming Frederick. Netizens were demanding justice for Dylan.
When Amelia saw the news, she immediately called Frederick, but his phone was always busy.
After work, she went to the Hastings Group to find Frederick but couldn't see him.
Online, Frederick was being investigated, and all sorts of negative news about him kept coming out.
Under Frederick's leadership, the Hastings Group had been a big deal in Kasfee for years.
Now that Frederick was in trouble, the Hastings Group was taking a hit. Their stock was tanking.
Some partners who had been working with the Hastings Group started pulling out.
Rachel was also affected and got super busy. When she went out, she noticed Amelia looked worn out and reassured her in a low voice, "Don't worry, Frederick's issue will be resolved soon. He's just under investigation. He didn't cause Dylan's death, so he won't be too affected."
Online, people were calling for Frederick to be jailed, and Amelia was really anxious. She said worriedly, "How could it not have an impact? The Hastings Group's stock keeps falling."
Rachel walked over to Amelia and gently comforted her. "It's okay, it's just a drop in stock. Frederick is capable; he'll turn things around in a couple of years."
Amelia bit her lip tightly and said seriously, "There are clearly better ways."
Rachel patted Amelia's shoulder and replied seriously, "Frederick doesn't want to push Anna into the public eye. He's Anna's father and doesn't want the media to overly focus on her. So when the PR department of the Hastings Group first proposed that plan, Frederick vetoed it."
If the reason for Frederick beating Dylan was exposed, Anna would inevitably come into the public eye. He'd rather take the blame himself than expose Anna.
Seeing Amelia's slightly red eyes, Rachel soothed softly, "It will be resolved soon. Once he's done with the investigation, he'll definitely contact you first. I have to go to Fondaniss tomorrow. During this time, everything at home will depend on you. Don't let this issue get you down. You and Frederick will face more problems in the future."
