Chapter 447 Nancy Was One Step Ahead of Her
As Amelia spoke, she locked eyes with Catherine, who was doing her best to avoid her gaze.
Catherine bit her lip, lifted her head, and looked at Amelia, her anxiety written all over her face. She gave Amelia a quick glance before looking away again, clearly rattled.
Amelia noticed her hesitation and glanced away. Outside, police sirens blared.
Catherine, now in full panic mode, grabbed Amelia's hand. "Dr. Davis, this has nothing to do with me," she pleaded. "If someone saw us that day, you should know Mr. Dylan's death isn't on me."
Amelia looked down at Catherine, her frown deepening. Catherine's eyes were on her, testing her resolve.
Catherine had indeed been Harold's secretary for years. Even though she was freaking out inside, she could still play mind games with Amelia.
Amelia shook off her hand and sneered. "Then let's talk about it at the police station."
Just as Amelia finished speaking, the investigators entered the room.
Catherine felt a bit flustered seeing the investigators but still cooperated and got into the car with them.
At the police station, they got out of the car together.
The investigators were chatting with their colleagues, probably arranging for someone to take their statements.
Taking advantage of the moment, Amelia whispered to Catherine, "Catherine, don't worry. I've already given Mr. Angoulême this address. You made him lose his dearest person; he'll make you lose your most beloved one."
Her voice was low, and Catherine's face changed immediately.
Meanwhile, Amelia slightly curled her lips and turned her attention to the investigators. "When I entered the room, I saw Cynthia lying on the ground, and Catherine standing beside her," she stated calmly. "Catherine told me herself that they had a dispute."
Catherine's mind was entirely on her son, who was left at the estate. When the investigators questioned her, she was clearly distracted. She frequently looked at Amelia, trying to figure out if Amelia was deceiving her.
Amelia remained calm and composed, her expression steady and indifferent when facing Catherine's gaze.
Catherine was extremely anxious inside. After giving her statement, she quickly walked up to Amelia and grabbed her hand. "I'll give you the video; you have to make Mr. Angoulême spare my son," she pleaded.
Amelia looked at Catherine indifferently and demanded, "Send me the video."
Catherine bit her lip hard and insisted, "You have to promise me first, make Mr. Angoulême spare my son."
Amelia nodded, "Okay."
Only after getting Amelia's response did Catherine send the video to her.
Amelia immediately opened it to check. The surveillance video was the part that had been deleted on the day Dylan died.
The video showed Dylan visiting the company to see Harold, only to get hit with a barrage of verbal abuse. Harold's cursing echoed through the hallway.
Soon, Dylan stormed out of Harold's office, with Harold hot on his heels, raining blows and kicks upon Dylan while continuing his vehement admonishment. "Go die, then. I won't give you a cent of my property. You and your mother are parasites of the Kingsley family. Haven't I spent enough on you already? I feel disgusted just looking at you! Just go die!"
Toward the end of the video, Nancy and Catherine appeared, with Catherine smirking as she watched Dylan get abused. After a while, Harold stopped, regaining his composure before inviting Nancy into his office. Catherine paused as she passed Dylan, who lay on the hallway floor for ten minutes. Then she also entered Harold's office. Despite people passing by, no one offered comfort, and Dylan eventually left through the emergency exit. The video ended.
Amelia frowned, feeling the weight of the scene. Catherine, frantic about her son's safety, urgently addressed Amelia. "Dr. Davis, this is what happened that day. Please call Mr. Angoulême now. Tell him not to harm my child."
Catherine knew that Frederick was being investigated during this time. Even someone like Frederick was no match for Ken, so naturally, the Kingsley family couldn't fight Ken either. So Catherine was very panicked and afraid that Ken would harm her child.
Amelia shook off Catherine's hand and said coldly, "I never told him the address of the estate."
Catherine's expression froze in shock. "You lied to me?" she stammered, completely unprepared for Amelia's deception.
Amelia glanced at her and then looked at the investigators. She asked, "I've finished my statement. May I leave now?"
The investigators nodded, releasing Amelia. As she moved to leave, Catherine desperately grabbed her. She barked, "You can't leave! Give me back the video." She had kept this video in case Harold later refused to marry her so she could use it as a threat.
Harold had no knowledge of the video's existence, always believing that she had deleted all the surveillance footage.
Amelia shook off Catherine, who, fully detained now, was led away by investigators, suspected of intentional harm.
Amelia exited the police station and headed directly to where Frederick was held, calling Ken on the way.
Ken quickly answered Amelia's call. She said, "Mr. Angoulême, I've got the surveillance video from the day Dylan died. I hope you can fulfill our agreement and withdraw the foreign reports affecting Frederick."
As soon as Amelia finished speaking, Ken responded directly. "I've already had them withdrawn."
Amelia secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly said, "I'll send the surveillance video to your email right away."
Ken's voice was calm as he replied, "I already have the surveillance from that day."
Amelia was stunned for a moment and hadn't asked who had given him the surveillance when Ken's voice sounded again. "Ms. Wright sent me the video half an hour ago."
