Chapter 332 Your Daughter Looks A Lot Like You
Charles watched Sebastian rush off, his smile growing a bit.
A glint flashed in his glasses as he saw Rachel approaching. He seemed more humble now, not as arrogant as before.
Rachel stopped next to Charles and said, "The second phase of Riverfront Estate has been stalled for ages. If you buy it, you might lose money. Have you thought it through?"
Rachel, in her black suit, stood out against Charles's white attire.
Charles smiled, "Why are you warning me? That's not very business-like."
Rachel hesitated. Charles had helped her before, so she felt she couldn't deceive him.
The Davis family had tried to develop Riverfront Estate many times but always failed. The land was worthless to her.
If Charles wanted to buy it, she was willing to sell but didn't want him to lose out.
She said, "Thanks for your help today. I don't want to repay kindness with ingratitude."
Charles chuckled, "In business, it's just a deal. No kindness or ingratitude."
Rachel pressed her lips together and led Charles to the next room.
Charles followed, his broad shoulders almost shielding Rachel.
In the temporary office, Tina and others had the contracts ready.
Charles was eager to buy the land, so Rachel had had Tina prepare quickly.
If Rachel didn't know better, she might think the land had some special value.
After signing the contract, Charles paid immediately.
Tina got the confirmation from finance and nodded to Rachel.
Rachel smiled, stood up, and shook Charles's hand. "I hope this land proves valuable for Mr. Wright."
Charles smiled, "Its value is quite extraordinary."
He shook her hand gently and then let go.
Rachel felt a hint of doubt but kept smiling.
After Charles left, Rachel asked Tina, "There weren't any rumors about treasures on this land, right?"
Tina shook her head. "No."
Rachel frowned slightly, "Then why does he want it so badly?"
Charles had called her that morning, eager to buy Riverfront Estate and even offered to help her with her problems.
The land had been idle for a long time, and Rachel had thought of selling it, but there were no buyers.
Why was Charles so interested in it?
Rachel felt something was off but couldn't put her finger on it.
"Keep an eye on them and let me know if anything changes," she told Tina, then walked out.
Vincent and Amelia were sitting in the hall. Frederick came in through a side door, avoiding the media, holding Anna.
As he walked in, he bumped into Charles, who was holding the contract.
Charles smiled, "Good morning, Mr. Hastings."
Frederick nodded, "Good morning, Mr. Wright."
Charles glanced at Anna, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Is this your child? She looks a lot like you."
Before Frederick could respond, Ian whispered something to Charles, who then said goodbye and left.
Frederick stood there for a moment, looking at the quiet Anna in his arms, trying to see the resemblance.
Anna noticed and waved her hand in front of him, showing off her nails adorned with pink cartoon diamonds.
"Uncle Frederick, are they pretty?" she asked sweetly. Frederick stared for a long time before finally saying, "Pretty."
Anna beamed at his response.
Amelia saw Rachel and Tina come out and quickly approached.
Rachel noticed her worried look and said, "It's all taken care of. Where's Dad?"
Vincent, who had been with Amelia earlier, was now missing.
Just then, Vincent walked out from an adjacent room, looking solemn. "I just went to see the victim's family," he said.
Rachel pressed her lips together and comforted him, "It's been years; don't burden yourself too much."
Vincent nodded slightly, then asked, "Was that man who came in just now Nicholas Wright's son?"
Rachel nodded, "Yes."
Vincent took a deep breath, looking in the direction Charles had left. "Don't interact with him too much."
Rachel nodded, "I know."
Amelia listened, confused. She had no memory of Charles or the Wright family. Did they have a grudge against the Davis family? But Charles had helped them today.
Unable to understand, she felt relieved that the Davis family's crisis was resolved. She looked over at Frederick and Anna.
Frederick was holding Anna, lost in thought. When he noticed Amelia looking, he raised his head, his eyes filled with intense scrutiny and curiosity.
Susan stood behind Frederick, her expression subtle.
Amelia felt a sudden surge of unease, as if Frederick might leave with Anna, and she would never catch up.
