Chapter 224 She Still Hadn't Found the Necklace She Lost
Once eager to be part of this circle, Amber now felt relieved not to belong.
Fortunately, she was just a nobody, so her mishap wouldn't be the talk of the town for too long.
Felix timely walked over to Frederick.
Frederick handed him the bracelet with a cold expression and ordered, "Destroy it."
Felix's expression showed surprise upon receiving the bracelet. He quickly apologized, "I'm sorry. It's my fault."
He had no idea when Amber had stolen the sketches.
Frederick's face was gloomy as he sat down.
Felix tactfully retreated.
Amelia stood quietly on the side, watching the scene unfold, her eyes full of confusion and her emotions complex.
Amber bit her lip tightly. Seeing Frederick's merciless demeanor, she knew she wouldn't gain his forgiveness by staying. It was better to leave quietly now.
Under everyone's gaze, she took a deep breath and walked slowly toward the outer hall.
She wanted to walk faster, but for some reason, her legs felt weak.
If she hurried and stumbled, it would be even more humiliating.
She stared at the contemptuous and disdainful looks from everyone as she walked out of the inner hall.
In the outer hall, after a deep breath, she took a few steps when Angela approached and slapped her across the face. "How dare you deceive me?"
Amber was stunned by Angela's slap, her expression dazed.
She asked, "What did I mislead you about?"
Angela gritted her teeth.
Amber clearly knew about Amelia's background but chose to hide it in the dressing room, even implying that she had a bigger backer.
When Angela questioned if Amelia was financially supported, Amber remained silent, as if avoiding discussing others' private matters.
Now that Angela had calmed down, she felt she had fallen into Amber's trap.
Amber had used her as a pawn, causing her to kneel and beg for mercy in the inner hall.
Angela fumed, "I treated you as a friend, but you tried to harm me!"
The more Angela thought about it, the angrier she got, wishing she could tear off Amber's hypocritical face.
The others in the outer hall didn't know what conflict had occurred between the two.
Many of Amber and Angela's mutual friends tried to mediate.
Amber covered her cheek. Her eyes were red as she looked at Angela, saying, "The Rodriguez family matters have nothing to do with me. Don't take out your anger on me. Emily was there, too. Ask her, did I say anything?"
Emily, another bridesmaid of Angela's, was completely shocked by the situation.
She was timid and unsure how to intervene, murmuring, "Angela, we're friends. Today is your wedding day. Please calm down."
"Angela, you should calm down. If there's anything, we can talk about it another day. You probably don't want to see me today, so I'll leave first. Congratulations on your wedding." Amber didn't want to continue arguing with Angela.
After saying that, she tried to leave.
A few friends held her back, trying to persuade her to stay.
Amber insisted on leaving.
Angela, suppressing her anger, stared at Amber and stated coldly, "Leave? My missing necklace hasn't been found yet. Do you think you can just walk away? It was just you and me in the dressing room earlier. Emily wasn't there."
Amber's expression darkened. Feeling wronged, she instinctively wanted to explain, "I didn't steal your necklace. It was just the two of us in the dressing room. Don't you know my every move?"
Angela walked up to Amber, grabbed her wrist, and sneered. "Who knows if you stole it or not? The bracelet you were wearing earlier was also stolen, wasn't it?"
Amber was stunned, feeling like she couldn't defend herself.
She bit her lip tightly. Although she had hidden the necklace under the carpet, it wasn't on her.
Amber looked up slightly at Angela, her expression now calm as she said, "Then call the police."
Angela narrowed her eyes, staring at Amber, asking, "Do you think I don't dare to call the police?"
Amber looked indifferent.
Angela took a deep breath and was about to ask someone to call the police when the Rodriguez family's butler, John Wilson, walked over and asked, "Ms. Torres, is this your necklace?"
Angela's expression changed subtly as she took the necklace and nodded. "Yes, it's mine."
John, a distant relative of Virgil, knew about Angela's past actions and didn't show her any respect.
He said calmly, "The necklace was found under the carpet. Ms. Torres, Mr. Rodriguez asked you to behave and stop causing trouble."
Angela fell silent.
After handing her the necklace, John turned and left with the servants.
Many socialites observed Angela's lack of influence within the Rodriguez family, evident when even a butler could act dismissively towards her.
"May I leave now?" Amber quietly looked at Angela and asked.
Angela didn't respond.
Amber pressed her lips together and walked away.
After taking a few steps, she paused slightly and then turned to Angela, saying, "Angela, today's incident was just a misunderstanding. I don't blame you. We'll still be friends in the future."
Angela bit her lip, hating Amber to the core.
She firmly believed she had been misled by Amber.
But with Amber's gracious acting, all her insistence would seem unreasonable.
In this circle, there was never a shortage of backstabbing friends.
"Amber, I'm sorry. I wrongly accused you. I was just too anxious," Angela swallowed her anger and responded with a stiff smile, even pretending to ask Amber to stay.
After all, Rachel and Amelia hadn't come out of the inner hall yet.
Most people in the outer hall didn't know what had happened inside.
Angela thought if she had been humiliated, Amber shouldn't get away unscathed.
Amber naturally didn't want to stay any longer. No matter how Angela and her friends tried to persuade her, she insisted on leaving.
Angela said coldly, "Amber, if you leave today, I'll take it as you not forgiving me. I won't consider you for any future business collaborations. And I doubt Mr. Hastings will offer you any opportunities either."
Amber understood the veiled threat in Angela's words.
Currently, the Davis Group controlled most of the resources. Rachel had always disliked her, so she couldn't expect any benefits from her.
Frederick wouldn't care about her, and Scott hadn't contacted her recently.
Most of her recent gigs were through Angela, albeit minor, provided steady income.
She couldn't afford to completely fall out with Angela now.
