Chapter 146 Was it Possible That She Didn't Like You?
Frederick's eyes were fixed on Amelia, hoping to see some sadness on her face.
But she didn't show any sadness.
Amelia's expression was calm, her gaze drifting toward him as she spoke slowly, "I'm just speaking from a doctor's perspective, Mr. Hastings, don't get upset."
Frederick paused, realizing that his words just now didn't evoke any reaction from Amelia.
Feeling a pang of disappointment, Frederick began to blame Amelia. He no longer wanted her support, withdrawing his hand to lean against the wall and make his own way back to his ward.
Looking at his angry expression, Amelia raised an eyebrow lightly and followed quietly behind him.
Half an hour later, Amelia received the diagnosis report and then prescribed medication for Frederick.
She thought Frederick probably didn't want to see her at the moment, so she asked a nurse to administer the IV drip for him.
After the nurse administered the drip, she returned to report to Amelia about the work situation.
Seeing the nurse looking cautious, Amelia inquired, "What's wrong?"
The nurse, with a troubled expression, said, "I couldn't find the vein properly when I was giving Mr. Hastings the injection, so I pricked him several times."
Amelia's eyes flashed with surprise. "Did he scold you?"
The nurse shook her head.
Frederick didn't scold her. He just looked at her with a cold expression, and his deep blue eyes were devoid of any emotion, yet exerting a strange sense of pressure on her.
Even her hands were trembling while administering the injection, and she felt like her career was coming to an end.
"Although he didn't scold me, I felt even worse. Ms. Davis, next time you should personally administer the injection to Mr. Hastings. I feel like I'm about to lose my job."
Amelia heard this and smiled lightly, saying, "It's okay."
Although Frederick was serious in his dealings with others, he wouldn't easily dismiss someone.
"He won't fire you," Amelia assured the nurse.
The nurse sighed, remaining silent.
Amelia, seeing her worried expression, patted her shoulder and said, "You go handle other matters, leave this to me."
The nurse relaxed at this, looking gratefully at Amelia. "Ms. Davis, I knew you were the best to me," she said.
Amelia smiled faintly and walked toward Frederick's ward.
When she arrived at the door of Frederick's ward, he was on the phone discussing business.
Amelia waited at the door until he finished the call before entering his room.
She walked over to look at the IV drip, noticing that Frederick's blood was flowing back into the tubing on the back of his hand.
She frowned her brows, reached out, and held Frederick's wrist.
"Don't move," Amelia said.
Upon hearing her command, Frederick didn't move.
Amelia peeled off the tape stuck to the back of his hand and adjusted the position of the IV needle.
His hand had been pricked multiple times, showing signs of bruising.
She furrowed her brows slightly, understanding why the nurse had been so nervous earlier.
As Amelia adjusted the needle, Frederick winced in pain and instinctively pulled his hand back, causing the needle to come out completely.
Pausing for a moment, Amelia looked up at Frederick.
Frederick's gaze also fell on Amelia, and he said coldly, "Ms. Davis, you seem to be so busy dating that your medical skills have declined to the point where you can't even handle such a simple task."
Listening to his sarcasm, Amelia didn't retort, just lowered her head to find the vein on Frederick's hand again.
Amber came to the hospital for a follow-up today and upon hearing that Frederick was hospitalized, she found her way to his ward.
Approaching Frederick's ward, she saw the door open. As she stepped inside. she saw Amelia standing by Frederick's bed and holding his wrist.
Frederick sat on the bed, quietly gazing at Amelia.
The tenderness in his eyes almost filled the room.
Amber bit her lip lightly and knocked on the door, interrupting the harmonious atmosphere between them.
"Frederick, I heard you were hospitalized, so I came to see you. What's wrong?" Amber walked to Frederick's bedside, her expression full of concern.
Amelia had initially found the vein on Frederick's hand, but upon hearing Amber speak, her hand trembled involuntarily, causing the IV needle to go off track again.
Feeling embarrassed, Amelia glanced up at Frederick's expression.
This time, Frederick didn't mock her. He just looked at her coldly. But his silence was more hurtful than his sarcasm.
In that instant, Amelia understood how the nurse had felt earlier.
Seeing that Frederick didn't respond to her but continued to stare at Amelia, Amber felt uneasy and decided to engage with Amelia.
"Ms. Davis, let me help you," Amber said.
Amelia's eyes dimmed.
She didn't like Amber, even feeling uncomfortable whenever she heard her voice.
Upon hearing Amber offer to help, Amelia immediately withdrew the needle and handed it to Amber.
"Then please, Ms. Roberts," Amelia said.
Amber just casually spoke, not expecting Amelia to let her help.
Seeing Amelia hand her the needle, Amber hesitated, feeling awkward.
"Ms. Davis, don't joke with me. I'm not a doctor. I can't administer injections," Amber said.
Amelia shifted her gaze away from Amber, saying calmly, "So you are joking with me. I thought you sincerely wanted to help, but it was just a lie."
Amber's expression stiffened.
Amelia turned her gaze away from Amber and cast a glance at Frederick, who sat without expression on the bed. Her tone was no longer as gentle as when they were alone.
"This hand can't be pricked anymore. Give me your other hand," Amelia said.
Her voice carried a commanding tone, sounding displeased.
After Frederick heard her words, a glint of light flashed in his eyes.
He quietly looked at her for several seconds.
Seeing no reaction from him, Amelia furrowed her brows and repeated, "Give me your hand."
This time, Frederick obediently raised his left hand and handed it to Amelia.
With a serious expression, Amelia found the vein accurately, inserted the needle smoothly, and applied the bandage.
"If you don't want your hand to swell tomorrow, you better not move it." As she spoke, Amelia pushed the IV drip needle into Frederick's left hand.
After completing a series of actions, Amelia left Frederick's ward.
Amber observed everything and after Amelia left, she pursed her lips and muttered discontentedly, "Ms. Davis's temper is getting worse. Doctors shouldn't treat patients so roughly."
Before she could finish her sentence, Frederick spoke in a low and indifferent tone, "It's just because she doesn't like you and doesn't want to see you."
