Chapter 155 He Didn't Like Me

Amelia glanced calmly at Frederick and replied lightly, "He doesn't like me so that we couldn't be together."

Although she said it in a lowered tone, her disappointment was hard to conceal.

Frederick fell silent, feeling that the person Amelia used to like must be blind not to want such a good Amelia.

He sensed the disappointment in Frederick's words and couldn't help but ask, "Do you still like him now?"

This time, Amelia didn't answer his question.

Frederick also fell silent.

Vincent held breakfast for Frederick with one hand and Anna's hand with the other.

After arriving at the door of Frederick's ward, Anna didn't let Vincent continue holding her hand. She let go of Vincent's hand and ran straight into the ward.

When she saw Amelia in the ward, she ran to her side and reached out to hug Amelia's thigh tightly.

"Mommy, we meet again."

Her voice was gentle, with a hint of joy.

Amelia couldn't help but smile slightly. She reached out to pat Anna's head and responded to Anna's words with a pleasant tone.

"What a coincidence! We meet again so soon."

Amelia's words amused Anna, who laughed out loud.

Seeing Anna, Frederick's earlier low spirits eased, and he waved to Anna.

"Anna. Come over to me," Frederick said.

Anna obediently ran to Frederick's bedside and anxiously looked at the needle in his hand.

"Does it hurt, Uncle Frederick?"

Her round and lovely eyes were full of concern, and she placed her small hand on Frederick's hand, being careful not to touch the needle on the back of Frederick's hand.

Frederick shook his head and said, "It doesn't hurt."

Vincent presented the lunchbox in front of Frederick and then shifted the dining table closer.

Frederick promptly sat upright.

Anna, observing Frederick's hand with the inserted needle in motion, felt a wave of anxiety as if the needle were inserted into her hand.

"Uncle Frederick, be cautious." Her voice was gentle, filled with concern.

Frederick couldn't resist reaching out to ruffle Anna's head. "I am fine."

Vincent brought the oatmeal porridge and set it up in front of Frederick.

"You should eat while it's hot."

Frederick nodded appreciatively and said, "Vincent, thank you."

Vincent replied with a smile, "Not a problem. I have plenty of free time since I stay at home with Anna every day. Businesses are full of young people now, and us older folks helping out a bit makes us feel valuable."

Amelia frowned slightly upon hearing Vincent's words.

When the Davis Manor fell from its prestigious position in the business, Vincent still felt a significant sense of loss.

"Dad, the Davis Group was founded by you and developed by your daughter. Both my sister and I are excellent, all thanks to your guidance. Your value surpasses many others," Amelia said.

Vincent was comforted by Amelia's words and chuckled, patting Amelia's head. "You're subtly praising yourself."

Amelia immediately made a dodging motion, smiling with a charming expression.

"Amelia is right," Frederick whispered.

Vincent's gaze lingered on Frederick for a few seconds upon hearing his words.

Frederick had a good appetite and finished all the oatmeal porridge Vincent brought him.

Vincent didn't rush to leave but stayed in the ward to chat with Frederick for a while.

The nurse took Anna to the nursing station.

Amelia had no choice but to follow.

In a short while, the nursing station became busy.

Amelia returned to Frederick's ward with Anna.

Vincent got up from the sofa and was ready to leave.

"I'll bring you oatmeal porridge again tomorrow morning," Vincent said as he left.

Frederick nodded, then remembered something and immediately spoke up,

"Vincent, I won't take up your time tomorrow. I have to go to Seaspring Valley City for a project."

Vincent cautioned him, "If it involves business dinners, you need to take extra care given your current health. In that case, I won't come tomorrow."

Frederick nodded and prepared to get up to see Vincent off, but Vincent immediately stopped him.

"You rest. Anna and I will leave on our own; there is no need to see us off."

When Amelia heard that Frederick was going to Seaspring Valley City, her expression didn't show much surprise, as she had already learned about it from Amber.

She followed Vincent and Anna out of Frederick's ward.

She saw them off all the way downstairs.

Carl saw them coming out and drove the car over to them.

Vincent lifted Anna into the car first, then turned to Amelia.

"Frederick often falls ill. If you don't accompany him, there might be problems in Seaspring Valley City."

Amelia pursed her lips and said softly, "With Amber by his side, he shouldn't fall ill."

Vincent paused and frowned in silence.

Amelia smiled lightly and patted Vincent's shoulder, saying, "Although Frederick's health isn't great, he's not as weak as those eighty-year-old entrepreneurs. At his age, he doesn't need a personal doctor to accompany him."

General Hospital offered this service.

Many elderly entrepreneurs who were still active in their careers would hire a reputable doctor from General Hospital to accompany them when they travel.

This way, if any issues arose during the journey, the doctor was familiar with their medical condition and could provide immediate assistance.

Vincent thought Frederick was going to Seaspring Valley City alone, hence he wanted Amelia to accompany him for some bonding time. He didn't expect Amber to be in the mix.

Vincent's expression was somewhat gloomy as he got into the car.

Amelia smiled faintly and said softly, "Besides, I don't have time to go to Seaspring Valley City with him tomorrow. Dylan invited me for dinner, and I've already agreed."

Seeing no hint of disappointment on Amelia's face, Vincent felt reassured. "Alright. Anna and I will head back first."

Amelia nodded gently. After watching the Davises' car leave, she turned back toward the hospital.

As she ascended the steps, she saw Amber coming out from inside the hospital.

Amber was momentarily surprised when she saw Amelia, and then she managed to smile.

"Ms. Davis, Frederick and I will be heading to Seaspring Valley City tomorrow. Will you be accompanying us?"
