Chapter 126 He Spoke, His Voice Hoarse
Noah and Yves followed Sebastian's gaze, only to see Frederick with a cold expression, striding in.
"What can't I handle?" he asked in a deep voice.
Noah and Yves didn't answer. After all, Frederick's didn't seem to be in a good mood.
Sebastian and Frederick grew up together, and their relationship was the best among the six of them. So Sebastian had no reservations and smiled.
"Of course. It's about you not being able to handle Amelia."
Frederick's slightly softened expression immediately turned cold. He walked to his seat and sat down.
Noah and Yves dared not speak.
After Frederick sat down, he did not refute Sebastian's words, obviously acquiescing.
Scott was the last to arrive. He walked into the room and went straight to his seat. After having the waiter make him a cup of coffee, he asked, "What are you guys talking about?"
Noah smiled awkwardly. "Nothing much."
Frederick had already started shuffling the cards.
Scott didn't continue to inquire. He took out the cigarettes he had just bought, placed them on the table, and offered them to the others.
He first handed one to Sebastian on his left.
Sebastian raised his hand to refuse. "I quit smoking. Anna has been in contact with me a lot lately. Rachel won't allow me to smoke anymore."
Upon hearing this, Scott chuckled. "Look at you, acting like she's your daughter."
After saying that, he offered a cigarette to Frederick. He did not reach out and coldly replied, "I quit."
Scott raised an eyebrow. "Sebastian quit smoking for Amelia's child. Are you doing the same?"
Frederick coldly did not answer, feeling somewhat inexplicably irritated.
Scott was tactful and handed the cigarettes to Noah and Yves. "Come on. Let's smoke together."
After a game of cards, Frederick, who was in a bad mood, had bad luck. He was the only one among the five who lost money.
Scott rarely won money from Frederick, so he suggested as everyone was leaving, "It's still early. Shall we go to the bar for some entertainment?"
Frederick did not refuse. His mind was in a whirl. He probably had no intention of sleeping at this rate.
Sebastian was about to marry Rachel soon, so he rarely went to such places for fun. He waved his hand. "No. You single guys go ahead. Rachel keeps a tight rein on me. I need to go back to sleep."
The others immediately looked at him with disdain. "Look at you now."
Sebastian shrugged it off, smiling. "People like you who no one cares about will never understand the happiness of being cared for and looked after."
Frederick frowned, his eyes cold.
Once, he was someone who was cared for.
Feeling annoyed at Sebastian's smug look, he said, "If you're leaving, hurry up."
Sebastian smiled and left.
Scott watched Sebastian's car leave and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Now that's a guy who chose hoes before bros."
Frederick said nothing. He got into his car, glancing at Scott, and said, "Let's meet at the usual place."
Scott nodded, and they each drove to the bar.
Frederick got drunk that night and ended up with a stomachache. He drank heavily, was obnoxious, and had a bad temper.
Paul considered taking him to the hospital several times, but he refused. Seeing him sweating profusely and in pain, Paul had no choice but to call for help from Amelia.
Amelia was already asleep and was awakened by her phone vibrating.
She picked up the phone, saw it was Paul calling, and furrowed her brow.
At this hour, if it weren't for Frederick having a problem, Paul wouldn't usually disturb her. She got up and answered the call.
"What's the matter?"
Paul sounded frantic. "Ms. Davis, Mr. Hastings is having a stomachache. He's in a lot of pain and keeps asking to see you. He refuses to go to the hospital."
Amelia frowned. "Has he taken any medicine?"
Paul hesitated for a moment, feeling like a student who had done something wrong and was afraid to face the teacher.
"Mr. Hastings didn't take any medicine tonight and drank quite a bit of alcohol."
Upon hearing this, Amelia's eyes turned cold. She glanced at the time. It was already two in the morning.
"I'll be right there," she said in a low voice and hung up. She picked up Anna and took her to Rachel's room.
Rachel was a light sleeper. When Amelia entered the room, she opened her eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked softly.
Amelia placed Anna next to Rachel. "Frederick is ill. I need to go over."
Rachel nodded, seeing Anna move next to her and then fall back asleep. She said to Amelia, "Go ahead. Be careful on your way there."
Amelia nodded and left.
Amelia arrived at Pearl Building, the large flat where Frederick lived.
Paul had sent the password directly to Amelia. After she went upstairs, she entered the house with the password.
Paul was busy tidying up.
Before Amelia entered the room, Frederick vomited once more. Paul helped him into the bathroom to rinse his mouth and then helped him lie back on the bed. He saw Amelia standing at the door of Frederick's bedroom.
It was Amelia's first time at the Pearl Building. For the whole three years of their marriage, Frederick had never brought her here. The décor here was all in cool tones, in line with his style.
On the other hand, Spring Villa was decorated according to her preferences, which was why he didn't like going back to Spring Villa much.
"Ms. Davis." Paul's expression was already very tired.
Amelia looked at his dark circles, knowing that dealing with a boss like Frederick was tough for Paul. She glanced at Frederick on the bed and said softly, "You go rest. Leave this to me."
Paul hesitated.
Amelia pursed her lips. "You won't be of much help here."
Upon hearing this, Paul nodded. "Then I'll leave it to you, Ms. Davis."
Amelia nodded slightly.
Paul didn't say much more, turned, and left. Soon the sound of the door closing could be heard.
Frederick lay on the bed, occasionally groaning in pain.
She walked over and saw Frederick still dressed in a suit, with his belt tightly fastened around his waist. She struggled to turn Frederick over.
When experiencing stomach pain, it's best to loosen the belt to ensure proper circulation and make the abdomen more comfortable. She tried to undo the belt several times but couldn't manage it. After all, she wasn't good at unfastening a man's belt. Looking at it tightly fastened around his waist, she couldn't help but furrow her brow.
She sighed and decided to find scissors to cut the belt. As she looked up, she saw Frederick lying on the bed, looking at her with a puzzled expression. His deep eyes showed a hint of disbelief.
"You..." He spoke, his voice hoarse.
Amelia paused and lowered her gaze. She noticed that his hand was still in the belt's position, and there was a tent-like bulge in that area.
