Chapter 145 Strangers After Divorce

Amelia saw that he didn't answer her question coldly, withdrew her gaze indifferently, glanced at the time, and sat on one side waiting.

Her current task is to cure Frederick's stomach problems and adjust his lifestyle habits.

So, she is not only Frederick's attending physician but also his family doctor.

Frederick saw Amelia put the thermometer in place and then retreated to the sofa to read a book. He felt an inexplicable sense of being ignored.

"I want some water."

His voice was low, with a hint of hoarseness.

Amelia's eyes were still on the book in her hand, not even lifting her head.

"You need to have a gastroscopy later, so you can't eat or drink anything. Bear with it for a while. I'll take your temperature, and then we'll go for the gastroscopy."

Her voice was very soft and gentle, as if she were talking to a child.

Frederick frowned, thinking that her attitude was completely different from when she spoke to him last night. He couldn't help but feel that being her patient wasn't so bad.

But he quickly suppressed that thought.

Five minutes later, Amelia put down the book on time. She got up and walked to Frederick's side. Glancing at the thermometer completely buried in his clothes, she said,

"Take out the thermometer."

Lying on the bed, Frederick didn't react at all, just glanced at her without any action.

"You put it in, so you take it out."

Amelia raised an eyebrow.

She didn't mind helping Frederick take it out. But her hands were a bit cold, and she was afraid of chilling him.

Seeing him say that Amelia no longer hesitated and directly reached into his collar.

His body was warm, but her hands were very cold.

As soon as her hand went in, Frederick's skin got goosebumps, obviously chilled by her hand's temperature.

His face immediately darkened, his Adam's apple slightly moved, and his deep eyes swept over Amelia.

Amelia's lips curled into a smile. She pretended not to see his silent complaint, reached in, took out the thermometer, and checked it.

"You don't have a fever anymore."

She said, shaking the thermometer, then turned around and put it back in the box.

Frederick's deep eyes watched her back. The skin she had inadvertently touched was still cold.

He frowned and remained silent.

After putting away the thermometer, Amelia turned around and lifted the bed sheet.

"Go for the check-up first."

Frederick got up coldly. When he got out of bed, he suddenly felt dizzy, his head spinning.

Seeing this, Amelia skillfully reached out to support his waist.

"What's wrong?"

She asked with concern.

Frederick just glanced at her hand on his waist, his expression gloomy.

Amelia also noticed where his attention was, raised an eyebrow, and then withdrew her hand.

He had a severe obsession with cleanliness and mistakenly thought she had emotional entanglements with Daniel and Dylan.

In his eyes, she was a woman with a chaotic love life.

She was the kind of woman who was promiscuous and irresponsible in his subconscious thought. So her touch made him very uncomfortable.

Her eyes turned cold and indifferent, her expression low, and she said softly,

"It was just an instinctive action, not trying to take advantage of you."

After saying that, she walked toward the door.

When she reached the door and saw Frederick still standing there without moving, she said, "Go for the check-up first."

"If you want to change doctors later, you can."

Frederick heard this, his eyes sullen, glancing at her coldly.

"I'm dizzy."

Amelia paused. She thought that he fainted last night and hadn't eaten anything this morning, so it was normal to feel dizzy.

She stood at the door, a hint of hesitation in her eyes, then asked, "Do you need me to help you?"

Frederick looked at Amelia expressionlessly. "What do you think?"

Amelia raised an eyebrow, "You have a cleanliness obsession and probably don't like a woman like me who is good at navigating between multiple men."

"I'll call a nurse for you."

Frederick took a deep breath, his expression becoming even colder.

"Amelia Davis!"

He called her full name in dissatisfaction.

Amelia saw the anger in his eyes and didn't say more. She walked over. "How should I help you?"

Frederick's face was expressionless.

"Help me as you usually help patients."

Amelia nodded, reached out to hold Frederick's waist, and put his hand on her shoulder.

Frederick's expression was cold and even more depressed.

Did she usually help patients this intimately?

Amelia helped Frederick to the examination room.

After arriving at the examination room, Amelia helped Frederick lie on his side on the examination bed.

The staff in the examination room were doing disinfection work. When they brought the tube over, Frederick instinctively grabbed Amelia's clothes.

Amelia glanced at his hand and knew he was scared.

After all, gastroscopy is indeed uncomfortable.

She quietly stood by Frederick's side, letting him hold her clothes.

After the examination, Frederick still hadn't let go.

Amelia glanced at his tightly clenched hand and chuckled softly.

"Frederick, you can tell me if you're scared next time. I'll ask the doctor to be gentler."

Frederick withdrew his hand coldly.

Amelia gave him a cold look, her expression unchanged.

The examination report wasn't out yet, but she could see the results on the computer immediately.

So after Frederick let go of her clothes, Amelia immediately walked to the doctor's side.

The doctor was sitting in front of the computer checking the data. Amelia walked over and leaned in to look.

One hand on the chair, her eyes focused on Frederick's examination report.

They occasionally used some professional terms that Frederick didn't understand.

The doctor was a male, and he didn't avoid Amelia's closeness, indicating they often communicated this way.

Frederick's eyes were sullen, feeling unhappy. He got up coldly and walked out of the examination room.

The gastroscopy was very uncomfortable. Frederick felt his stomach churning, wanting to vomit. But he hadn't eaten anything last night and hadn't drunk a drop of water this morning, so even if he wanted to vomit, there was nothing to throw up.

After walking a few steps, he felt dizzy again and reached out to hold the door frame.

Amelia heard the noise and turned to look at Frederick. After seeing him pretending to be strong, she walked over and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Frederick, the illness will drain your vitality and energy. You still need to take care of your body."

Frederick stopped, looking down at Amelia holding him, his eyes cold.

"What if I don't take care of myself?"

Amelia paused, looking up at Frederick, frowning slightly.

Before she could speak, Frederick coldly said,

"Just like you said last night, we are divorced. Whether I take care of myself is my own business, not yours. In your eyes, I'm just a stranger who divorced you. In my eyes, you are, too."
