Chapter 184 A Sour Feeling in the Heart

After Frederick walked away, Amelia put down the documents in her hand and stared at the office door for a while. Her eyes dimmed, then she lowered her head and continued working.

After work, Amelia returned to the Davis Manor.

When she entered the living room, she saw the managers of a famous jewelry store in Kasfee standing in the living room of the Davis Manor, each holding a beautiful box containing children's jewelry.

They were all squatting on the floor, smiling as they let Anna choose, while Vincent sat on the sofa with a helpless smile on his face.

Frederick's hand rested on Anna's shoulder as he pointed to one of the jewelry boxes.

Frederick asked, "Do you like this one?"

Anna nodded and replied simply, "I like it."

Frederick nodded slightly, and the manager's smile suddenly brightened. He respectfully set the jewelry box aside and let Anna try it on.

The other jewelry store managers didn't want to miss this opportunity either. Everyone looked at Anna pleasingly, asking in gentle tones if she wanted to try on their bracelets.

Their tones were all very gentle.

The managers' flattering and humble appearance made it impossible for Anna to refuse.

Anna liked every bracelet she tried.

Amelia saw the conflicted look in Anna's eyes and furrowed her brow.

Amelia had raised Anna, so she knew what Anna was thinking from her expression.

Frederick would indulge Anna, so if she said, "I like them all," Frederick would definitely buy all those pieces.

Frederick saw that Anna was taking a long time to choose her favorite bracelet, so he gently asked, "Do you like all of them, Anna?"

Amelia took a deep breath and stepped into the room as Anna was about to answer.

Amelia said, "Anna."

When Anna heard Amelia's voice, she immediately ran to her side, showing her the bracelet she was wearing.

Anna said, "Mama, look."

As Anna ran over, almost all the jewelry store managers' eyes were on her.

Amelia guessed the value of the bracelet on Anna's wrist from the expressions on their faces.

Amelia said, "Just choose one, Anna."

Anna obediently nodded and said, "Okay."

Amelia smiled slightly and pointed to one of the bracelets on Anna's wrist.

The bracelet was adorned with various colored gemstones, vibrant in color. It was a style that Anna would love.

Amelia asked, "How about this one?"

Anna looked at the bracelet on her wrist seriously and happily replied, "I really like it."

When Amelia saw her delight, she inquired, "How much is this bracelet?"

The manager quickly said in a low voice, "Two million. This bracelet was designed by our chief designer, and all the gemstones on it are natural."

Amelia felt a bit suffocated when she heard the figure.

The bracelet would cost her a year's salary.

Frederick leaned back on the sofa, legs crossed, looking at Amelia with a playful expression.

He said, "Let me pay for it."

Amelia gritted her teeth inwardly when she heard that.

She replied, "No need. I hardly used the alimony you gave me for the divorce."

Frederick fell silent.

Amelia smiled slightly and took out her bank card from her bag, handing it to the jewelry store manager.

The manager was still in a daze, feeling that the conversation between them was quite complex.

Anna called Mr. Hastings Uncle Frederick, but Ms. Davis was Mr. Hastings' ex-wife.

The manager looked puzzled.

When Amelia saw that the manager was distracted, she added, "Swipe the card."

The manager then came to her senses, but instead of taking the bank card from Amelia's hand, she looked to Frederick as if seeking his opinion.

Frowning, Amelia said, "There's money in my account too!"

Frederick looked at Amelia and said, "Keep your money. I'll pay."

The manager didn't dare take the bank card from Amelia after Frederick spoke up.

Amelia's eyes cooled slightly. She started to speak, but Frederick spoke first.

"Anna is here. Do me a favor."

At this moment, Anna looked up, innocently gazing at Amelia. "Mama."

Amelia swallowed the words she had been about to say. She reached out and rubbed Anna's head, her tone softening. "Give the other bracelets back to the ladies, okay?"

Anna obediently nodded, then raised her little hand so the managers could remove the other bracelets.

After the managers took back their jewelry, they put them in the safe and left respectfully.

In the end, they swiped Frederick's card.

After the transaction, the manager left respectfully, casting a few more glances at Amelia as she departed.

Anna looked satisfied with the bracelet on her wrist, happily showing it off to Vincent. "Grandpa, isn’t the bracelet beautiful?"

Her voice was cheerful. She was clearly in a good mood.

Vincent couldn't help but pinch her nose and said with a smile, "I wonder who was crying and looking for Frederick this morning. Frederick had bought you a bracelet now. You must be happy."

Anna smiled shyly, leaning into Amelia's embrace.

Amelia raised an eyebrow lightly. She hadn’t known that Anna had been crying and looking for Frederick in the morning.

She felt a slight heaviness in her heart as she sensed Anna's increasing dependence on Frederick day by day.

Amelia bent down to pick Anna up and sat on the other side of the sofa.

Vincent smiled and said to Frederick, "Dinner is ready in the kitchen. Stay for dinner here tonight."

Frederick nodded and said, "Okay."

After the dishes were prepared in the kitchen, Amelia took Anna to the sink to wash her hands.

As Frederick finished washing his hands, he saw Amelia bringing Anna over, so he reached out to help Anna roll up her sleeves and bent down to help her wash her hands.

Anna cooperated quietly.

After washing her hands, Frederick effortlessly took Anna from Amelia's arms.

Vincent stood by watching Frederick's actions, his smile becoming more kindly.

Amelia's marriage would have been very happy if it hadn't been for what happened with Amber.

As Amelia washed her hands, she couldn't help but glance in Frederick's direction.

She saw Frederick sitting next to Anna's high chair, gently tying a napkin around Anna's neck.

Anna obediently tilted her head up.

Frederick couldn't help but smile, perhaps charmed by her appearance.

After tying the napkin for Anna, Frederick noticed that Amelia hadn't taken her seat yet. He looked up at her and caught her stealing a glance at him.

Their eyes met, and Amelia immediately looked away.

Frederick leaned back slightly, feeling a sourness in his heart.
