Chapter 288 Make Everyone Around Her Like Him

"I can lift you with one hand. Can you believe it, Anna?"

Frederick stepped behind Amelia, bent over, and locked eyes with Anna.

Amelia could feel Frederick's warm breath on her neck as he spoke.

Anna's blue eyes sparkled as she looked at Frederick with a big smile. "Really?"

Frederick nodded. "Of course, it's true."

He reached out to Anna.

Though a bit worried, Anna trusted Frederick and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Amelia felt a pang in her heart as she watched Anna leap into Frederick's arms without a second thought. Once Frederick had a good hold on her, Amelia let go and gave Anna a gentle pat on the bottom.

Whenever Frederick was around, Anna wanted to be with him all the time, like a little shadow.

"I didn't lie to you, did I?" Frederick said, bringing his forehead close to Anna's.

Anna bumped her forehead against his and laughed sweetly.

Frederick, pleased with her response, chuckled and carried her inside with one hand.

Amelia watched them, feeling a mix of emotions as they looked like a happy father and daughter.

Frederick noticed Amelia hadn't followed and waited at the door for her.

Seeing him stop and look back, Amelia knew he was waiting for her.

She composed herself and followed him inside.

Vincent, hearing that Frederick and Amelia had returned, came out from the kitchen. Seeing Frederick carrying Anna with one hand, he quickly took Anna from him.

"Your hand is injured, and Anna is lively. She might hurt you again. Go sit on the couch. I made some bone broth and a good dish to nourish you."

Vincent patted Frederick's shoulder. "Thank you."

If it weren't for Frederick, Amelia might be in the hospital now.

Frederick, hearing Vincent's thanks, replied in a low voice. "No need to thank me, Mr. Davis. Even if I'm injured, it's willingly. I couldn't protect Amelia during our three years of marriage, and I feel guilty. I want to protect her in the future. I hope you'll give me a chance."

Vincent, moved by the sincerity in Frederick's eyes, patted his shoulder. He smiled. "I'll give you a chance! As long as Amelia agrees, you can remarry anytime."

Amelia remained silent, complaining silently that her father had changed his mind so soon.

Anna, in Vincent's arms, tilted her head curiously. "What does remarry mean?"

Her face was full of curiosity.

Amelia quietly looked away, not answering.

When Frederick wanted to answer, Amelia, standing behind him, gently pinched his waist, signaling him not to respond.

Vincent, noticing Amelia's awkward and subtle expression, softly explained to Anna. "It means Uncle Frederick will live with Mommy and you."

Anna immediately clapped her hands in delight. "Great!"

Anna looked at everyone with anticipation.

Fortunately, Susan came out from the kitchen, changing the subject. "The bone broth is ready. Shall I serve it now, Mr. Davis?"

Vincent nodded and replied softly, "Yes, serve it."

Amelia quickly added, "I'll help."

She said this and left the room.

Vincent, holding Anna, said to Frederick, "Let's head to the dining room. Make yourself at home."

Frederick nodded and followed Vincent.

Vincent placed Anna in a high chair.

Anna insisted on sitting next to Frederick.

Vincent, with a sigh, moved her and the high chair next to Frederick.

Amelia helped Susan bring the dishes to the table. As soon as she sat down, Anna looked at her eagerly.

"Mommy, when will you remarry Uncle Frederick?"

Amelia almost choked, scrambling for the right words.

Luckily, Frederick stepped in. "I made a mistake before, and your mommy hasn't forgiven me yet. Once she does, she'll remarry me."

Anna's eyes widened. "Was it a big mistake?"

Frederick nodded. "Yes."

Anna's excited face fell. She remembered Amelia telling her that big mistakes shouldn't be easily forgiven. Feeling disappointed, she was silent for a moment before looking up at Amelia.

"Did Uncle Frederick hit Mommy?"

Amelia was taken aback, recalling telling Anna that no one should be forgiven for hitting or hurting her.

Seeing Anna's face change from disappointment to wariness, Frederick chuckled. "Of course not. I could never hit Amelia."

He looked at Amelia, his deep blue eyes full of affection.

Amelia accidentally met his gaze and quickly looked away.

After Frederick's clear answer, Anna's wary look disappeared. She wanted to speak again, but Amelia quickly placed a piece of fish on her plate.

"Anna, you shouldn't talk while eating."

Anna picked up the fish with her fork and responded crisply, "Okay, Mommy."

Anna stopped talking, and Amelia breathed a sigh of relief.

As Amelia served Anna fish, Frederick's expectant gaze fell on her.

Vincent noticed and said, "Amelia, Frederick's hand is injured. Can you serve him some food?"

Laying a piece of fish in Frederick's plate, she completed the gesture with a quiet, "There you go."

Frederick thanked her softly, "Thank you."

Amelia's lips formed a tight line. "No problem."

After tasting the fish, Frederick looked at Vincent. "Mr. Davis, your culinary skills are off the charts. Every dish hits the spot. Amelia brought me takeout for lunch today from a spot I used to adore. But now, after this feast, it just doesn't compare."

As soon as Frederick finished speaking, Vincent quickly said, "If you really like it, you can come to the Davis Manor for all your meals."

Quick on the uptake, Frederick responded, "Thanks, Vincent. I'll hold you to that."

Amelia rarely heard Frederick talk so much. Realizing his intention, she couldn't help but glance at him.

He was trying to win everyone over.
