Chapter 243: Why is She in Frederick's Car?
In his eyes, Rachel was already a very difficult woman to deal with. Still, seeing Amelia's calm demeanor now, Felix only felt that she was even harder to handle than Rachel, at least in matters of the relationships.
Felix felt a chill down his spine, thinking that Mr. Hastings was bound to suffer in love in the future.
But he felt it was necessary to explain a bit on Frederick's behalf.
Felix told her, "Ms. Davis, Mr. Hastings is not someone who cares much about property division. When he divorced you, he was very generous."
It was because of his generosity that their divorce process ended so quickly.
Amelia looked out the window, her eyes dim.
She curved her lips into a slight smile and said, "In that marriage, I wasn't the one at fault. His generosity was only right, wasn't it? Moreover, his generosity was just to avoid further entanglement with me over property issues."
Felix was momentarily at a loss for words, not knowing how to respond to her question.
After a long silence, he finally said, "Mr. Hastings has not been with Ms. Roberts since your divorce."
Amelia responded indifferently, "But before our divorce, he must have had that thought."
Felix was stunned again, speechless.
Frederick divorced Amelia right after Amber returned to the country. If Felix said Frederick didn't have that thought, Amelia would never believe it.
Besides, Felix didn't even understand why Frederick divorced Amelia during that time.
Felix sighed as he found himself unable to best Amelia in the conversation.
Her mind was too clear.
The rest of the journey passed in silence for Felix.
Amelia withdrew her gaze from the window and glanced at Felix, who was quietly driving ahead, a subtle emotion flashing in her eyes.
But she quickly hid that trace of desolation.
At the Tideport City Hotel.
Felix parked the car at the entrance.
After Amelia thanked him, she opened the car door and got out.
Felix politely said it was no trouble and then drove the car into the garage.
Amelia stepped into the hotel lobby and waited for the elevator when Amber walked out of it.
Amber was momentarily stunned upon seeing Amelia, then smiled, "Dr. Davis, I just went to Frederick's room to discuss Maria's situation with him, and he's willing to help."
Amelia raised her delicate eyebrows slightly and said in a low voice, "Just now?"
Amber nodded with a smile, she said full of joy, "Yes. As long as Frederick steps in, Maria's issue will be resolved, so you don't need to worry."
Amelia looked at her lifelike expression and smiled lightly, "Ms. Roberts, have you ever considered a career in acting?"
Amber froze her Amelia slightly.
Amelia had already walked past her, chuckling as she stepped into the elevator.
Frederick was just with her, but now he was at the airport. Could there be two Fredericks?
Amber realized that Amelia might have seen through her lie, her expression stiffening.
As the elevator doors closed, Amber looked up at Amelia just in time to see her faintly mocking smile.
Amber changed her face instantly, her eyes filled with an expression that seemed to mock her as a lying demon.
Amber took a deep breath, her hand at her side clenching slightly.
Amber had knocked on Frederick's suite door earlier, but no one had responded for a long time, so she thought he had gone out.
Frederick had always been very concerned about Amelia's matters.
If he knew Amelia was worried about Maria, he would step in.
Amber knew there was a rift between Amelia and Frederick, so she planned to use this information gap.
Letting Amelia mistakenly believe that Amber had persuaded Frederick and he was stepping in for Amber could not only alienate Amelia from Frederick but also make Amelia distance herself from Frederick.
Amber didn't dare to act rashly with Frederick anymore.
Since Angela's wedding, Frederick wouldn't even spare Amber an extra glance, as if knowing her had become a very embarrassing thing.
Amber couldn't forget Amelia's mocking expression earlier, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
Amber thought, 'Could it be that Amelia is with Frederick just now?'
She hurriedly left. At the hotel entrance, Amber ran into Felix, who had parked the car and entered the hotel.
Seeing Felix, Amber quickly walked over and asked, "Felix, where's Frederick?"
Felix stopped and kept a certain distance from Amber. He replied with an aloof gaze, "It's not convenient to disclose."
Amber frowned, taking a deep breath and speaking with a hint of displeasure, "Felix, do you have some sort of prejudice against me? No matter what, I'm also Frederick's friend. How can you treat me like this?"
Felix maintained a composed attitude, answering, "Sorry, Mr. Hastings has never asked me to give you special treatment."
After saying that, Felix stepped into the hotel, maintaining a certain distance from Amber, as if she were a jinx, bringing bad luck upon contact.
Amber was infuriated by his attitude, gritting her teeth yet helpless.
She wanted a chance to explain things to Frederick, but there was never a suitable opportunity.
In the following days, Amber often saw Frederick's car coming in and out of the hotel but never managed to meet him.
The hotel receptionist always thought Amber had a close relationship with Frederick so she couldn't inquire about his whereabouts at the front desk.
Amber could only observe the timing of Frederick's car entering and leaving the hotel. After searching the garage and not seeing his car, she waited at the hotel entrance.
Amber had already extended her stay at the hotel for a few more days.
If she continued to extend her stay, her recent earnings would all go toward the hotel suite fees.
Tonight was her last chance. Regardless of tomorrow's situation, Amber had to check out and move to another hotel, staying in a standard room.
Amber waited at the hotel entrance for a long time and saw Frederick's car driving in from outside. She quickly stood up, her legs a bit numb from sitting on the steps for too long.
Amber bit her lip lightly, trying to create an impression of having waited a long time, looking pitiful.
The car stopped at the hotel entrance, and she stepped forward, opening the rear door. Her tone was pitiful, "Frederick..."
Before Amber could finish her sentence, she bent down and saw Amelia sitting in the back seat. She was stunned, asking in disbelief, "Why are you in the car?"
'Where is Frederick?' Amber pondered.
Amelia's eyes were calm, her gaze sweeping over Amber.
She inquired lightly, "Ms. Roberts, what show are you putting on this time?"
