Chapter 310 Buying a Dress

Amelia glanced up at Frederick standing next to her. If he'd been this supportive three years ago, maybe they wouldn't be divorced now.

She pursed her lips and said calmly, "Mr. Hastings, you're going to spend a lot."

Frederick tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear and replied softly, "Without the Davis family, I wouldn't be where I am. Most of my money is yours anyway, so it's no big deal."

Amelia looked at him, her eyes flickering before she quickly looked down to hide her emotions.

Amber, listening to Frederick, looked surprised.

No other man would admit his success was due to his ex-wife's family, especially in front of others. Yet, Frederick did.

Amber bit her lip, noticing the store clerks' respectful and cautious attitude toward Amelia. She took a deep breath, feeling unwilling but helpless.

She controlled her emotions, looked at Frederick, and said quietly, "Frederick, it's just a dress. If Ms. Davis likes it, she can have it. No need to make a fuss."

Frederick shot Amber a cold glance and snapped, "This isn't about a dress. Besides, it doesn't belong to you. What are you giving up?"

Amber's face turned pale. Frederick's message was clear: neither the dress nor he belonged to her.

She used to question why he treated her this way, but now, she didn't dare.

Amelia stood quietly beside Frederick, doing nothing, and Amber had already lost.

Amber's gaze at Amelia was filled with hatred, and envy. She bit her lip, knowing Frederick had completely abandoned her. She had no chance.

If she kept seeking attention, Frederick would only suppress her more.

Frederick ignored Amber, his eyes cold as he asked, "Did she make an appointment to pick up the dress today?"

The store clerk shook her head. "No."

If Frederick hadn't asked, the clerk wouldn't have offended any customer. But since he did, she didn't dare to lie.

With the lie exposed, Amber turned pale and almost fled in embarrassment.

Amelia glanced at Amber's retreating figure, then looked at Frederick. She wanted to see some change in his expression, but he didn't even look at Amber. Instead, he took the dress from the clerk and compared it.

He asked gently, "It looks nice. Want to try it on?"

Amelia couldn't see any change in Frederick's expression, so she looked away and nodded lightly. "Okay."

The clerk took the dress from Frederick and led Amelia to the fitting room. As Amelia followed, Frederick reached out and took her handbag.

"I'll hold it for you," he said.

So, Amelia handed it to him.

Frederick took the handbag and sat on the sofa to wait.

When Rachel arrived, she saw Frederick sitting there with Amelia's handbag beside him. She raised an eyebrow and sat across from him.

"Don't you have important matters to attend to? Why are you here?" she asked.

Rachel had rushed over from the Davis Manor for a last-minute meeting at Ascending Company, only to find Frederick absent. The Hastings Group had sent a junior rep, saying Frederick had more important matters and that everything should follow her lead.

She thought the Hastings Group had urgent business, but here was Frederick.

Frederick showed no guilt. He smiled politely, "Sorry to mislead you. I should inform you that I wouldn't be there."

His politeness left Rachel with no room to argue. She just snorted and looked away.

Amelia came out of the fitting room in the suit.

Seeing Rachel and Frederick, she looked a bit confused. "Rachel, how does this look?"

Rachel turned to her. "It looks good."

Amelia's image and temperament suited light-colored dresses.

Rachel got up and helped Amelia adjust her shirt, asking quietly, "Did you tell Frederick you were here?"

Amelia shook her head. "No. I just said I was shopping with you and couldn't pick him up, so he should drive to the Davis Manor himself. Why?"

Rachel realized Frederick had checked her schedule. She chuckled, "Nothing. I didn't expect him to come here."

Amelia pursed her lips. Was Rachel mocking Frederick?

After adjusting Amelia's outfit, Rachel said softly, "It looks great, very suitable for you."

Seeing Rachel hadn't picked out any clothes, Amelia asked, "What about yours?"

Rachel replied, "Mine is already ordered. I need to pick it up today. You rarely wear formal clothes, so I brought you here to choose some. You look good in formal wear, so pick a few more sets."

Amelia declined, "No, I rarely wear them."

Rachel glanced at Frederick and said lightly, "Someone will be eager to pay. Since he wants to pursue you, you should spend what you deserve from the marriage."

Amelia smiled lightly and asked, "Did he offend you today?"

Rachel replied calmly, "Since he married you and didn't cherish you, he has already offended me."

Amelia pursed her lips and fell silent.

In the end, Rachel picked out a few less formal suits that Amelia could wear daily.

Frederick obediently paid the bill and happily carried the shopping bags and handbag for Amelia. His right hand wasn't well, so he used his left hand.

When Felix arrived and saw Frederick carrying things with his left hand, he immediately came over to help.

Frederick handed the shopping bags to Felix but kept holding Amelia's handbag.

In the end, Amelia had a fruitful shopping trip, Rachel was satisfied, and Felix was loaded with shopping bags of various sizes.
