Chapter 463 Sent Back the Project Rectification Plan

Amelia listened to Rachel, her face getting all serious. "Could it really be someone sent by our competitor?" If the Davis Group was involved, they had to be extra careful. One wrong move and everything they worked for could fall apart. Today, Casey seemed super curious about Amelia's relationship with Frederick.

"It's okay," Rachel said, trying to calm her down. "Just keep doing what you're doing, but stay ready. Make Casey think a lawyer might actually come to talk about custody."

Amelia thought back to the way Frederick had sounded when he called her that day. She sighed, realizing she had totally misunderstood him. Frustration and helplessness flashed across her face. Their lack of understanding made it hard to get what he really meant.

"Was he being watched?" she asked.

Rachel nodded. "Yeah. To trap Nancy, some sacrifices had to be made. I'm sorry you and Anna have to go through this."

Amelia sighed again. No wonder Frederick was so confident leaving Nancy alone in his office. She had thought he trusted Nancy a lot in just a few days.

"I get it," she said. She and Rachel talked about what to do next, and then Amelia left the room.

That night, Amelia couldn't sleep. The whole situation was weighing on her. She wanted to call Frederick but knew she had to keep up the act for now.

The next morning, Amelia woke up feeling groggy and out of it. Rachel had already left for work. Amelia took Anna downstairs, put her in her high chair, and sat down. Even with light makeup, Vincent noticed she looked exhausted.

"Amelia," Vincent said, sounding worried, "If you're not feeling well, don't push yourself to go to the hospital."

Amelia looked up and softly replied, "Work still needs to be done. I've already taken such a long leave. The department is short-staffed, and my colleagues might already be complaining."

Vincent frowned. "I'll talk to Frederick later."

"Dad, don't," Amelia quickly said. "I'm fine. Please, just stay home and take care of Anna."

Anna tilted her head, looking confused. "Mommy, why can't we go see Daddy?" she asked.

Amelia pressed her lips together and softly answered, "Because Daddy is really busy with work, we can't bother him."

Anna sighed, and Amelia quickly changed the subject with a smile. "Guess what, Anna? In a month, you'll be three. That means you can go to kindergarten. Do you want to go?"

Anna's face lit up. "Yes, Mommy! I can make lots of friends there."

Seeing that she successfully changed the topic, Amelia couldn't help but smile.

Casey brought a glass of milk and placed it in front of Anna, smiling as she said, "The kitchen said this is fresh milk that just arrived this morning. I thought Ms. Anna Davis loves milk, so I brought a glass for her."

Amelia's frown deepened. Susan stepped forward, took the milk, and motioned for Casey to follow her outside. Casey had hoped to gather some information but was quickly shown the door.

"Susan, did I mess up?" Casey asked, trying to sound all innocent.

Susan's face was stern. "Each meal is portioned out specifically. Ms. Anna Davis has a special diet. Didn't you read the info I gave you?"

Casey bowed her head, looking a bit remorseful. "I'm sorry, Susan. The kitchen said the milk was super fresh, and I thought Ms. Anna Davis might like it."

Susan's expression stayed cold. "You won't be handling the kitchen anymore."

Casey's face fell. "Susan, please give me another chance. It's tough to find a job like this. If you fire me now, I might not be able to stay in this field." This gig at the Davis Manor paid double, and she could make extra cash just by reporting what she heard. The money was too good to pass up. No way she was leaving the Davis Manor.

Susan hesitated, remembering Rachel's instructions, then said, "You'll be responsible for cleaning. Every nook and cranny must be spotless. If you mess up, you'll be asked to resign."

A hint of joy flashed in Casey's eyes, and she quickly nodded. "Okay, Susan." Cleaning was more tiring than kitchen work, but it let her go upstairs, where she could gather more info.

Susan handed her the cup of milk and said coldly, "Pour it out."

Casey nodded, took the cup from Susan, and walked toward the kitchen.

Susan watched her go with a heavy gaze, took a deep breath, and then turned back to the dining room, nodding at Amelia.

Amelia gently rubbed Anna's head, looking thoughtful.

Halfway to the kitchen, Casey looked back to see that Susan had left, then took a sip of the milk. These were all good things; it would be a shame to pour them out. She couldn't help but take a few more sips.

At the Davis Group, Rachel sat in her office chair, looking at the screen with a hint of coldness in her eyes. Seeing Casey drink the milk herself reassured her that there hadn't been any tampering. But who was Casey working for? Rachel's mind raced with possibilities.

Tina knocked on the door, stepping into the tense atmosphere. "Ms. Davis, Mr. Hastings has sent back the project rectification plan."

Rachel frowned, taking the document from Tina. As she skimmed through the annotations, her expression darkened. She threw the plan onto her desk in frustration.

Tina stood silently, knowing better than to speak. The employees outside Rachel's office moved with extra caution, aware of the tense situation.

Everyone knew Frederick was likely stalling the project. If he was in league with Nancy, it could jeopardize the Davis Group's position entirely. Rachel's recent misfortunes in Fondaniss had only added to her stress.

Yaradia was Charles's territory, and with his support, things would generally go more smoothly. But as soon as Rachel's plane landed in Yaradia, something happened in Kasfee.

And the Ascending Company project, a critical revenue stream, faced sabotage. No wonder Rachel had been on edge, and the staff was wary of getting on her bad side.
