Chapter 409 Frederick Stays Overnight in Amelia's Room
Amelia turned to look at Frederick, only to see the hesitant expression on his face as he stared at the loose dress in her hand.
Amelia couldn't help but smile as she handed the dress to Frederick. "Go put it on."
Frederick's expression became even more conflicted as he looked at the dress Amelia offered him. "Can I not wear it?" he asked, trying to negotiate with her.
Amelia shook her head, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "No, you can't. Anna is inside. You can't set a bad example for her."
At the mention of Anna, Frederick sighed, defeated. He reached out and took the dress from Amelia, saying softly, "Just this once, and you can't tell anyone."
Amelia nodded reassuringly. "I won't tell anyone, I swear."
With Amelia's promise, Frederick finally got up and walked into the closet.
Anna was on Amelia's bed, covering her mouth and giggling, looking very cute.
Amelia picked up the towel and put it back in the bathroom. When she returned, Anna was still wide awake and waiting for Frederick to come out of the closet.
Seeing that Amelia had come out of the bathroom but Frederick was still nowhere to be seen, Anna couldn't help but ask, "Mommy, why isn't Uncle Frederick out yet?"
Amelia glanced in the direction of the closet, knowing that Frederick was probably too embarrassed to come out.
She smiled slightly, rubbed Anna's head, and said softly, "He's probably feeling shy. I'll go check on him. You should go to sleep; it's getting late."
Anna nodded and laid down on Amelia's bed. "Can I sleep in Mommy's bed tonight?"
Her innocent face and round eyes were so endearing that Amelia couldn't bear to refuse. She nodded. "Sure."
With Amelia's permission, Anna snuggled into the comforter, tucking herself in. "Mommy, go check on Uncle Frederick," she urged, clearly still curious about what Frederick would look like in Amelia's dress.
Amelia smiled and nodded, then walked into the closet. When she entered, she saw that Frederick had already put on her dress but was sitting on the bench, unwilling to come out.
The dress that was very loose on Amelia fit Frederick perfectly.
"Why aren't you coming out?" Amelia asked.
Frederick turned to look at Amelia, his eyes filled with sorrow. "Is Anna asleep?" he asked softly.
Amelia shook her head, "She's still waiting for you to come out. She probably wants to see."
As she spoke, she walked over to Frederick and reached out to pull his arm. "It's getting late. Let's go to bed," she urged.
With Amelia's urging, Frederick reluctantly got up from the bench. Amelia smiled and led Frederick out of the closet.
Anna, lying on the bed, couldn't stop laughing when she saw Frederick and Amelia come out of the closet together.
Hearing Anna's laughter, Frederick immediately ducked behind Amelia, feeling that his tall, handsome image had just disintegrated.
"Uncle Frederick, you look so beautiful." Anna's soft voice only made his face flush deeper with embarrassment.
Amelia smiled, took off her slippers, and got on the bed. She laid down in the middle, hugging Anna and saying softly, "Anna, be a good girl. It's time to sleep."
Anna rested her little head on Amelia's arm but kept looking in Frederick's direction.
Frederick quickly lifted the comforter, laid down next to Amelia, and pulled both Amelia and Anna into his arms.
Anna giggled and then whispered to Amelia, "Mommy, Uncle Frederick turned into a girl today, so he can sleep with us, right?"
Amelia chuckled softly, rubbed Anna's little head, and whispered, "Let's go to sleep, okay? I have to go to work at the hospital tomorrow."
Hearing Amelia's words, Anna obediently nodded and closed her eyes.
Frederick gently patted her back, and soon the room fell silent.
About ten minutes later, Frederick whispered to Amelia, "Is Anna asleep?"
Amelia opened her eyes to check on Anna. To her surprise, Anna also opened her eyes and replied, "I'm not asleep yet."
Frederick sighed, deflated. Amelia couldn’t help but laugh, her delight mirrored by Anna's giggles.
Frederick resigned himself to just tightly hugging them in his arms.
Anna slept very well that night, with a smile on her face, occasionally letting out a few giggles even in her sleep.
Hearing Anna's laughter, Frederick looked up at Anna in Amelia's arms, feeling his heart melt. He looked down at Amelia, who was half-asleep.
"Go to sleep," she mumbled.
Frederick responded with a soft "Hmm" and hugged her tighter. "You and Anna should move to Spring Villa. It'll be easier for me to take care of you," he murmured.
Amelia's response was silence.
Frederick looked down at Amelia in his arms and saw that she was already asleep and breathing evenly.
Frederick smiled helplessly. Resting his chin on Amelia's head, he closed his eyes.
The next morning, Susan came to Amelia's room to get Anna.
To avoid disturbing Amelia's rest, Susan usually entered quietly without knocking.
But this time, when she opened the door and saw Frederick in Amelia's bed, she was shocked and quickly retreated from the room.
Rachel was up early today for a morning meeting at the office. As she opened her door and walked out, she noticed Susan's startled retreat.
"Susan?" Her voice was calm yet curious.
Susan suppressed her shock, asking gently, "Ms. Rachel, why are you up so early today?"
Rachel glanced at the time and replied calmly, "I have a morning meeting, so I won't be having breakfast at home."
Susan nodded. "Okay, I'll inform Mr. Davis."
"Is Anna still asleep?" Rachel asked.
Susan shook her head and replied, "I just went in and saw that Mr. Hastings was there too. I don't know when he came over last night."
Seeing an extra person in Amelia's bed had startled her, but thankfully she hadn't woken them up.
Rachel remained calm, glanced at Amelia's bedroom, and said, "Let them rest. There's no need to wake them for breakfast."
Susan quickly nodded.
After giving her instructions, Rachel descended the stairs and left the Davis Manor.
