Chapter 439 Vincent Doesn't Want to Go to the Hospital

Rachel's words helped Amelia chill out a bit.

She took a deep breath, looked up at Rachel, and asked softly, "How long are you gonna be in Fondaniss?"

Rachel thought for a moment and said, "Maybe about two weeks. I gotta hit Fondaniss first, then head over to Yaradia. If everything goes smoothly, two weeks; if not, it might take longer."

Amelia knew Rachel had scored a bunch of deals at the conference and now had to go to Fondaniss and Yaradia to sign contracts and check out the market.

Even though Frederick's situation had her on edge, she wasn't gonna let it get her down. "Go ahead, I'll handle things here," she reassured Rachel.

Rachel nodded, seeing Amelia bounce back a bit, and then left Davis Manor feeling more at ease.

Vincent was also stressing about Frederick and was using his connections to get more info on his condition.

A lot of Vincent's old classmates were in high places now, so he managed to dig up quite a bit.

After all, things had gotten pretty serious, and Frederick was locked up for fifteen days for causing trouble. He'd be out after that.

Cynthia had a meltdown. Even though she signed a letter of understanding, it didn't help.

Harold was on a business trip and wasn't in Kasfee. He didn't want to face Frederick head-on, so he stayed away, waiting to see if the Hastings Group could bounce back after this mess.

"I've used my connections to talk to the folks guarding Frederick and asked them to look out for him," Vincent sighed, looking pretty helpless. "Frederick's never been through something like this. He's learning a hard lesson. You all need to be more careful in the future. With things blowing up like this, someone must be stirring the pot behind the scenes."

Vincent gently patted Amelia's shoulder, trying to comfort her. "Don't go to the hospital right now. Head over to Hastings Manor and be with Brittany. Frederick will be out in ten days, and things will be okay."

Amelia had been so worried about Frederick that she forgot about Brittany.

Brittany had been using the internet to pass the time and probably knew about Frederick's situation. She couldn't talk now, so she must be really worried.

Hearing Vincent's advice, Amelia took some time off and went to Hastings Manor with Anna.

As soon as Amelia drove up to Hastings Manor, Tom quickly came over to her.

He said seriously, "The internet at Hastings Manor was down for a bit, so Mrs. Brittany Hastings doesn't know about Mr. Hastings being detained. We all kept it a secret. Even though Mrs. Brittany Hastings has been pushing us to fix the internet, we didn't want to call a technician. Mrs. Amelia Hastings, now that you're here, we feel relieved."

He sighed and then continued, "What's Mr. Hastings' situation now? I've been wanting to call you, but I figured you had a lot going on, so I held back."

Amelia took a deep breath and replied softly, "Don't worry, Frederick will be back in ten days. Just tell Mrs. Brittany Hastings that he's on a business trip."

Anna, quietly sitting in Amelia's arms, listened and asked softly, "Is Daddy on a business trip?"

Anna hadn't seen Frederick in a while and missed him a lot. She'd asked Vincent about him a few times, but he always came up with some excuse.

Now, hearing Amelia say Frederick was on a business trip, she just asked once.

Amelia nodded gently. "Yeah, your dad's on a business trip. He'll be back in a few days, and then he can hang out with you again."

Anna nodded. "When he comes back, I'll call him Daddy, not Uncle Frederick anymore. He can't go away for work for so long again."

Hearing Anna's words, Amelia felt a warmth in her heart and hugged Anna a little tighter.

Brittany, hearing the car pull up, quickly wheeled herself out. Seeing Amelia talking to Tom, she waved to get their attention.

Anna, seeing Brittany, wriggled to get down from Amelia's arms.

Amelia bent down to let her go, and she ran toward Brittany.

Watching Anna run off, Amelia smiled softly and then said to Tom, "We're planning to stay at Hastings Manor for a few days."

Tom nodded quickly and helped Amelia unload the car.

Brittany had been super bored without the internet, so she was really happy to hear that Anna and Amelia would be staying for a bit.

On the third day of Amelia's stay at Hastings Manor, Susan called her. "Ms. Davis, you need to come back quickly. Mr. Davis has been feeling unwell since yesterday. I suggested taking him to the hospital, but he refused."

Amelia frowned, suddenly remembering she'd seen Vincent taking medicine recently, and her nerves tensed. She quickly responded, "I'll be back right away."

Brittany was playing a finger game with Anna and looked up with concern when she heard Amelia's words.

Anna also looked up at Amelia, her eyes filled with worry.

"Grandpa's not feeling well, I need to go back," Amelia said softly, seeing their concerned faces.

Anna immediately put down her hand and said, "Grandpa's not feeling well? I want to go home."

Anna had spent a lot of time with Vincent, so when she heard he was unwell, she insisted on going home.

Amelia couldn't bear to leave Anna alone at Hastings Manor.

Even though they'd been there for a few days, Anna still wasn't very familiar with the people there.

Brittany, hearing that Vincent was unwell, didn't try to keep Amelia but signaled Tom to take her back.

Tom quickly arranged for the Hastings Manor driver to take Amelia back to Davis Manor.

When Amelia got back to Davis Manor, Susan was helping Vincent sit on the sofa to rest.

Vincent's expression turned a bit stern when he saw Amelia return with Anna. He glanced at Susan with displeasure and said in a deep voice, "Amelia is so busy these days. Why did you call her back? You're just causing trouble."

Susan stood by Vincent's side with her head down, not daring to say a word.

Amelia's eyes darkened slightly, and she replied seriously, "Susan is being responsible. If you're not feeling well and don't tell me, what if something happens? How will I explain it to Rachel when she gets back? We're going to the hospital for a check-up now."

As she spoke, Amelia handed Anna to Susan and reached out to support Vincent.

Vincent waved her off. "It's just a minor issue. You know I have these old problems; a cough and it'll pass. Brittany probably doesn't know about Frederick's situation yet, right? Frederick will be back in a few days."

Vincent looked at Amelia, trying to change the subject, not wanting to go to the hospital.
