Chapter 178 He Just Wanted to Kiss Her Now!

Amber saw Amelia's silence. A smile squeezed onto her face. She straightened her back, turned, and walked out of Amelia's office.

When she reached the door, Amelia called out to her.

She said, "Ms. Roberts."

Amber stopped in her tracks, a slight smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She thought that Amelia was taken aback by what she had just said. To her surprise, when she turned around, Amelia glanced lightly at the gift box on the desk.

Amelia said, "Don't forget to take your things with you."

Amber's face stiffened.

Amelia just gave her a faint glance, then stepped past her.

Amber stood stiffly in place. Her expression was quite unpleasant as she watched Amelia's retreating figure.

The words she had just spoken had almost made her cry. That was how she imagined the feelings between herself and Frederick should be.

She wanted Amelia to know that she could never intervene in the emotional bond between her and Frederick.

However, Amelia seemed unaffected.

Her demeanor was calm and cool, which made everything Amber had just said meaningless once again.

Amber felt resentful as she thought about the words she had spoken in front of Amelia, and she felt a bit scared that Amelia would expose the lies she had fabricated.

She suddenly felt uncomfortable all over.

She even began to feel like a clown.

She gritted her teeth and flipped the exquisite gift box on the table. The pastries scattered all over the floor.

Amelia had forgotten her phone in the office, so she returned to the elevator after reaching the door.

At the office door, she stopped in her tracks, only to see Amber squatting on the ground, picking up the pastries one by one.

She put them back in the gift box and tried to arrange the pastries to look as exquisite as before, but the pastries that had fallen on the ground were broken and unattractive. No matter how she placed them, they couldn't look as perfect as they once were.

Amber noticed Amelia standing at the door and paused for a moment.

She quickly calmed down, trying hard to conceal her embarrassment.

Amelia walked into the office, picked up her phone, gave Amber a faint glance, and softly said,

"You don't have to do this. Even if you prepare everything perfectly, Brittany won't like it."

Back then, when she had done everything for Frederick, restrained her delicacy, and become a completely dignified woman befitting a wealthy wife, Frederick still didn't like her and wouldn’t spare her a glance.

So, Amber didn't need to do this.

Amber didn't respond to Amelia's words. She picked up the gift box and left, somewhat embarrassed.

Amelia watched her leave, quietly standing in place without moving for a long time.

Vincent highly valued the first birthday Amelia was having after she returned to the country.

Amelia had always been low-key. When she was young, she used to have birthday banquets.

But as she grew older, she had developed her own opinions and preferred to travel on her birthday rather than hold banquets.

So she never had birthday banquets like other noble ladies.

Vincent had planned a small birthday banquet for Amelia.

The guests he had invited were partners of the Davis Group and some well-connected aristocratic families.

Amelia had scheduled her day off for today. She had planned to sleep in until she woke naturally, but she was soon disturbed by a commotion and couldn't get back to sleep.

She got up slightly annoyed, and only realized that the Davis Manor had been redecorated after going downstairs.

Many balloons were floating on the ceiling.

Anna was helping Vincent with the decorations, running around in the living room.

Amelia walked over and picked up Anna, asking Vincent, "Will there be many guests today?"

Vincent nodded.

He said, "Not many, they’re all people you know, and there won't be any strange guests."

Amelia raised an eyebrow at his words.

She remembered that her father used to enjoy organizing birthday banquets for her, and each of her birthday banquets had been grand.

At that time, the Davis Group was a leading company in Kasfee, so many people who wanted to please the Davis Manor would come to her birthday banquet, even if they were not invited, bringing her gifts.

After she turned fifteen, Amelia no longer liked birthday banquets.

So she never let Vincent organize one again.

Amelia let Vincent take charge when she saw that he was busy but still smiling.

After a busy day, the evening banquet began. Guests gradually arrived at the Davis Manor.

Amelia stood by Vincent, welcoming the guests. She listened to the familiar men and women congratulating her on her birthday and smiled in response.

When most of the guests had arrived, they dispersed into groups to chat, and Amelia slipped away to the backyard.

She was not good at dealing with such occasions.

Even though the guests were people she knew, she couldn't engage with them all the time.

When Frederick found Amelia, she was sitting on a bench in the backyard, looking up at the stars in the sky.

He walked over and sat down beside Amelia.

Amelia noticed someone sitting beside her, glanced sideways, and saw Frederick sitting next to her.

He was wearing a black suit jacket today, but there was a burgundy shirt inside the jacket, which made him even more handsome.

Amelia looked at the man who had dressed up, raised an eyebrow slightly, and asked, "How did you know I was here?"

Frederick sat down beside her, smiling as he looked at her.

He said, "This is the quietest place at the Davis Manor, and you like quiet."

Amelia softly agreed, then withdrew her gaze from him and looked into the distance.

Frederick took the gift he had prepared from his pocket, without an exquisite gift box, and gave it to her.

The bracelet was something Frederick had started preparing shortly after Amelia returned to the country.

Three years ago, he had found Amelia's bracelet and knew its significance to Amelia.

After Amelia returned to the country, he never saw her wear the bracelet she had always kept with her, so he wondered if she had lost it again.

He kept modifying the sketches from memory, finally restoring the bracelet.

Amelia felt a slight chill on her wrist. When she looked down, she saw Frederick earnestly putting the bracelet on her.

She watched quietly, her expression slightly stunned. The bracelet was almost identical to the one she had lost. She hid all her emotions behind her dark eyes.

When Frederick saw her gaze fixed on the bracelet, he softly said, "Happy birthday."

Amelia looked up at him, her beautiful eyes staring deeply into his blue eyes.

As she silently watched Frederick, his heart raced. There was only one thought in his mind.

Kiss her!
