Chapter 244: Why Care So Much About His Child Again
Amber turned pale, and she withdrew her hand from the door frame.
Amelia bent down to get out of the car, her gaze passing over Amber as she walked straight into the hotel.
Amber took a deep breath, her face looking somewhat unpleasant. She glanced at the driver. it was Felix. Then she couldn't help but grit her teeth.
"Felix." As soon as she spoke, Felix started the car and drove toward the garage.
Amber felt the disrespect from Felix and took a deep breath in frustration.
During this period, Amber had only seen Felix coming in and out of the hotel, never running into Frederick.
'Could it be that Frederick has already returned to Kasfee General Hospital?' Amber was lost in thought.
She bit her lip hard, thinking that Frederick might have already gone back to Kasfee General Hospital. Amber had been staying at the Tideport City hotel for so long. Paying so much for the room made her heart ache.
Amber quickly walked into the hotel, stepping into the elevator just as the doors were about to close.
Amelia glanced at her indifferently, her expression calm.
Amber stood stiffly in the elevator, wanting to ask Amelia if she had known all along that Frederick had returned to Kasfee General Hospital. At the thought of that as soon as she asked, Amelia would know about her situation with Frederick, Amber held back.
Amber found a topic and began, "How is Maria?"
Amelia smiled, turning her head slightly to look at Amber, somewhat admiring her composure.
Despite the awkward situation just now, Amber could still take the initiative to speak to her.
"Not bad," Amelia replied blandly.
The elevator doors opened on her floor. She stepped out without much interaction with Amber.
Amber watched her back, feeling a wave of discontent in her heart.
Amelia's career and life were progressing well.
Since Amelia returned to the country, everything seemed to be going downhill for her.
Amelia seemed to be her nemesis. Wherever Amelia was, she couldn't shine.
Amber returned to her room and started booking a flight back to Kasfee General Hospital for the next day.
Amber booked the most expensive flight, thinking that Frederick would contact Scott and his other friends once he returned to Kasfee General Hospital. Amber immediately called Scott.
She questioned unpleasantly, "Why didn't you tell me Frederick returned to Kasfee General Hospital? Didn't you say you would help me unconditionally?"
Scott was sitting in the VIP room of a bar, watching the scene downstairs.
Hearing Amber's righteous accusation, Scott put down his glass and retorted coldly, "When did I ever say I would help you unconditionally?"
He didn't know Frederick had returned to Kasfee General Hospital either.
Frederick hadn't contacted him recently, nor had Sebastian.
Scott coldly hung up on Amber and sent a message to Sebastian.
Scott: [Did Frederick return to Kasfee General Hospital?]
Sebastian didn't reply for a long time.
Scott narrowed his eyes slightly, then took the initiative to video call Frederick.
The video was connected.
A child's innocent laughter came from the other end of the call.
Scott's hand holding the phone tightened.
"What's up?" Frederick's deep voice sounded, his face not appearing on the screen.
Scott stared at the screen somewhat dazed.
After collecting his thoughts, he spoke up with a question, "You returned to Kasfee General Hospital? Want to come over for a party? I'm organizing one."
Frederick almost immediately refused, "No, I'm with the child."
Scott was wearing a subtle expression, asking, "Whose child? Amelia's?"
Frederick didn't answer Scott.
Anna found her bottle on the shelf, took it down, and handed it to Frederick, calling out, "Uncle Frederick."
Frederick reached out to take the bottle and asked gently, "Want some milk?"
Anna, feeling a bit sleepy and wanting milk, smacked her lips twice and nodded obediently.
"Then I will make you some formula," Frederick said, getting up from the floor.
After standing up, he picked up his phone and replied in a calm voice, "That's it for now. Hanging up."
Scott paused and said casually, "It's not even your child. Why do you care so much?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the response he got was, "Video call ended."
The last time Frederick visited the Davis Manor, he saw Vincent making a formula for Anna. Frederick walked over to the kettle and started boiling water for Anna.
Susan had taken the day off, so only Vincent and Anna were at the Davis Manor.
Vincent went to the kitchen to wash some fruit and saw Frederick making formula for Anna.
Anna was standing closely by Frederick's side.
Her tiny figure looked especially small next to Frederick.
"I'll do it," Vincent said, putting down the fruit and walking over.
Frederick had already prepared the formula and was about to hand it to Anna when Vincent reached out to stop him.
Vincent chimed in, "You need to test the temperature first."
Vincent tested the temperature on the back of his hand. Finding it just right, he paused and looked up at Frederick.
He said, "You seem quite experienced."
Frederick was taken aback and quickly explained, "I saw you making formula for Anna last time, so I remembered."
Frederick didn't have any illegitimate children outside.
Vincent nodded lightly and said politely, "You were thoughtful."
Frederick froze his expression and felt that Vincent's attitude toward him wasn't as warm as it had been before.
He left the Davis Manor with a subtle feeling, pondering this matter.
His biggest advantage in front of Amelia was that Vincent always spoke highly of him.
If Vincent's attitude toward him cooled, Frederick wouldn't have much of an advantage.
When Sebastian brought Rachel back to the Davis Manor, he saw Frederick's car parked at the entrance, with Frederick sitting in the driver's seat, his hand resting outside the window, lost in thought.
"Honey, do you think Frederick might have had a hard time at the Davis Manor?" Sebastian inquired curiously as he gestured for Rachel to look at Frederick.
Rachel glanced indifferently at Frederick's car and said calmly, "I told Vincent that Amber also went to Tideport City."
Sebastian gave an awkward smile and whispered, "You can't blame Frederick for that. After all, Ms. Roberts sticks to Frederick like a fly."
Rachel shot him a cold look and said without mercy, "Then it proves he has something that attracts flies. Maybe he should get rid of it?"
Sebastian coughed lightly, unsure how to respond to Rachel.
Rachel opened the car door and walked toward the Davis Manor.
Sebastian quickly opened his door and got out. He said, "Honey, let me walk you in."
Rachel replied coldly, "No need."
Sebastian, full of helplessness and resentment, walked toward Frederick.
Because of Frederick, he was being blamed.
Sebastian walked over, leaning slightly against Frederick's car door. Sebastian took out a pack of cigarettes, pulled out two, and handed one to Frederick.
Frederick glanced at the offered cigarette, pushed it away, and said, "Quit."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, putting the cigarette back into the pack, joking, "You can quit smoking but can't quit, Amelia. Is she more addictive than cigarettes?"
His words choked Frederick, his eyes instantly cooling.
He retorted, "You act like a lapdog. Can you quit, Rachel?"
Sebastian snorted, not minding being called a lapdog, and even seemed a bit proud. He said, "Being a lapdog is a skill, too."
