Chapter 115 Amelia, Why Did You Come Back?
Amelia glanced at the gloomy Frederick and whispered to Rachel, "Let's go to my office."
Rachel nodded, "Okay."
She readily agreed and carried Anna out of Frederick's ward.
Anna obediently stayed in Rachel's arms. When she saw Frederick's gaze on her, she immediately raised her hand and waved at Frederick.
"Bye-bye, Frederick."
Amelia, listening to her clear voice, pursed her lips and corrected her.
"You shouldn't call him Frederick. You should address him as Uncle Frederick."
Anna promptly corrected herself after hearing Amelia's words, "Bye-bye, Uncle Frederick."
Rachel couldn't help but burst out laughing, turning her head to glance at Frederick. She noticed that Frederick, lying on the hospital bed, had an unusually fierce expression on his face.
Anna also sensed Frederick's gloomy mood, and she nervously looked at him, quietly asking Rachel, "Aunt Rachel, does Uncle Frederick not like me?"
Rachel smiled and replied, "No, Uncle Frederick is feeling unwell."
Anna nodded in realization, looking quite obedient.
Rachel swiftly left Frederick's ward, holding Anna in her arms.
Amelia followed them, not even sparing a glance at Frederick.
Sebastian chose a couch furthest away from Frederick and admired Frederick's dark complexion.
"Isn't Anna cute? I think my previous advice to you was practical. How Anna addresses you in the future depends on what you do."
Observing Sebastian's demeanor, Frederick's eyes turned cold, and he coldly uttered a word, "Get lost."
Sebastian chuckled, sitting with his legs crossed on the couch.
"I heard that Amelia and Daniel didn't get married because Daniel's ex-fiancée had a good relationship with Selah, so Selah minded Amelia's previous divorce.
"Selah is unhappy with Amelia, and Daniel's ex-fiancée is also troublesome. After all, Amelia divorced you because of your ex, so she doesn't want to go through that kind of life again."
Frederick's expression remained indifferent, feeling a bit uncomfortable after hearing Sebastian's words.
"Daniel is really irresponsible."
Sebastian nodded in agreement. "He is indeed cowardly."
Whenever he spoke, he always looked in Frederick's direction, as if hinting at something. Frederick completely understood the sarcasm in Sebastian's words.
He remained silent, envisioning Anna's adorable appearance from earlier, feeling an inexplicable heartache.
In Amelia's office, Rachel put Anna down. Anna immediately grew curious and went to examine the human skeleton displayed in the office.
Rachel sat to the side, smiling and saying, "Letting Anna address Frederick as Uncle Frederick is just absurd."
Amelia looked at Anna curiously studying the tools and replied in a soft voice.
"It's not my idea, Frederick told Anna to call him that. He even wants to buy her a present."
Rachel was taken aback. She had never expected Frederick to never doubt Anna's identity.
Thinking about the pain Amelia went through when giving birth to Anna, resentment surged in Rachel's heart.
Her eyes turned cold. "Then he really doesn't deserve to be Anna's father."
Amelia didn't respond, instead looking at Anna's well-behaved appearance with extra tenderness.
When Amelia planned to return to Kasfee from Fondaniss, she had some expectations for Frederick. But now, seeing Frederick's behavior, her expectations diminished greatly.
She had thought she had let go of everything, but when she saw Amber happily talking about her past with Frederick, her heart couldn't help but feel unsettled.
After three years of marriage to Frederick, it seemed like they hadn't left behind any particularly wonderful memories.
Amelia took a short break before getting busy again.
Sebastian also needed to return to work, so he and Rachel took Anna back to Davis Manor together.
After finishing her work, Amelia planned to go to the cafeteria for a meal. As she saw the elevator doors about to close, she immediately quickened her pace.
When she reached the doors, she saw Frederick standing inside the elevator making a phone call.
Felix saw her and quickly moved back, making room for her. Amelia stepped in and stood beside Frederick.
Frederick held his phone with a needle still attached to his hand. When Amelia entered the elevator, she couldn't help but glance at his hand and noticed blood around the needle. She softly reminded him, "You're bleeding on your hand; you should take care of it."
Frederick gave her a casual glance but didn't respond.
However, a gentle voice came from the phone receiver. "Frederick, do you have a girl next to you?"
Amelia was standing right next to Frederick and naturally heard the voice as well.
The light in her eyes dimmed slightly, and she withdrew her gaze, standing quietly to the side without saying anything more.
Frederick tightened his grip on the phone, then spoke in a deep voice, "I'll call you back later."
After he finished speaking, he put away his phone and looked at his hand. Seeing Amelia standing beside him, he extended his hand to her.
"Help me take care of it."
Amelia looked at his hand and raised her head to meet his eyes. "Aren't you afraid your loved one will misunderstand?"
Frederick remained expressionless and replied, "You're a doctor, I'm a patient. What misunderstanding could there be?"
Amelia was momentarily choked by his words but quickly regained her composure.
"Then let's go to the front desk. I'll help you with it."
The elevator door opened, and Amelia led Frederick directly to the information desk. There was iodine on the desk, and Amelia applied it to his hand before readjusting the position of the needle.
"Alright," she said. After finishing, she turned around to leave.
The nurse at the information desk saw Amelia walking toward the cafeteria and asked her, "Ms. Davis, could you buy two eggs for me?"
Amelia nodded and agreed, "Okay."
When she spoke, she didn't turn around. Frederick glanced at her, and when he started walking away, Felix immediately whispered, "Mr. Hastings, I've heard the meals at General Hospital are very nutritious and well-made. You can try eating some since your stomach is not feeling well."
Frederick paused and nodded slightly. "Then I'll give it a try."
Amelia had just sat down with her tray when she saw Frederick and Felix walk in from outside.
Felix walked up to Amelia and politely asked, "Ms. Davis, is anyone sitting next to you?"
Amelia shook her head. "No."
Felix immediately turned to Frederick and said, "Mr. Hastings, we can sit here."
Frederick remained calm and walked to the seat across from Amelia and sat down.
Amelia glanced around and noticed there were still many empty seats. She raised an eyebrow slightly and, seeing Frederick take a seat, didn't say anything, just lowered her head and started eating.
Felix breathed a sigh of relief when he saw their somewhat harmonious state. He had been creating opportunities for them, but even though they were sitting together, they were like strangers, neither of them speaking first.
