Chapter 218 What If He Couldn't Marry Rachel?
Frederick walked to Amelia's room and raised his hand to knock.
The door was quickly opened by Amelia.
Just as she opened the door, Frederick extended the dessert gift box he was holding towards her.
Amelia looked at the suddenly presented item and was momentarily stunned, not reaching out to take it.
Seeing that she didn't take it, Frederick said, "It's desserts. Don't you like it?"
Amelia glanced at the gift box and politely declined. "Mr. Hastings, you must have mistaken me for someone else. I'm not particularly fond of desserts."
Even if she occasionally ate them, it was just to taste, and now it was already late at night. She didn't like eating these sweet things at night.
At this moment, the receptionist brought a hair dryer to Amelia at the door.
Amelia immediately reached out for it.
The receptionist handed the hair dryer to Amelia and apologized softly. "Sorry, Ms. Davis."
Amelia smiled politely. "No problem."
With the hairdryer in hand, she turned and went back into her room, casually closing the door behind her.
The staff member felt the awkward atmosphere and quickly slipped away.
Rachel, seeing Frederick being turned away, happily raised her eyebrows and walked into the elevator.
Sebastian tried to follow, but Rachel immediately blocked him with her hand and said expressionlessly, "You stay and comfort Mr. Hastings. He must be feeling pretty bad."
As she spoke, she gently pushed Sebastian out of the elevator.
Sebastian could only sigh, walk over to Frederick, and put a hand on his shoulder, saying, "Looks like you're not having much luck either."
Frederick's face darkened, and he gave him a cold glance.
Sebastian smiled awkwardly, withdrew his hand, and asked, "How about I take you for a drink?"
Frederick gave him a cold look and replied, "I can't drink."
Sebastian responded, "Just one drink occasionally. I don't think Amelia would mind."
Frederick's expression grew even colder.
Sebastian pinched his nose and said with a smile, "Amelia is quite stubborn. Even if you wait here until dawn, she probably won't want your dessert. How about giving it to me? I could use it to cheer up Rachel."
Frederick clenched the dessert gift box and replied coldly, "Get lost."
Sebastian chuckled and continued, "Since you don't need me to stay and comfort you, I'll head upstairs first. After all, I have Rachel to please, and you don't. Sometimes I envy single men like you."
Frederick's eyes instantly turned icy.
Sebastian knew that if he continued, he would be risking his life, so he quickly left.
Frederick stood at Amelia's door for a long time before finally leaving with the gift box.
When he returned to his floor, he saw Amber standing at his door as he got out of the elevator.
Amber smiled as she walked over to Frederick, saying, "Frederick, I have a question I'd like to ask you."
Frederick walked past her expressionlessly, placing the dessert on the trash can lid nearby, saying, "I'm not in the mood to give you advice."
Amber's expression stiffened, and she said in a wronged tone, "Alright then, have a good rest."
Frederick didn't respond, went straight into his room, and closed the door behind him.
Amber looked at the closed door, biting her lip, her eyes reddening.
As she left, she paused in front of the trash can.
It was a brand new dessert gift box, with the packaging sticker still intact, clearly unopened.
She hesitated for a moment, picked up the box, and saw the exquisite desserts inside through the transparent window.
She thought of Frederick's unsettled expression earlier; he must have been rejected by Amelia.
Amber felt a sharp pain in her heart.
A cleaning lady came down the hallway to empty the trash.
Amber quickly put the gift box back on the trash can lid.
The cleaning lady noticed the unopened box and hesitated before asking softly, "Miss, are you throwing this away?"
Amber didn't respond.
The cleaning staff cautiously asked again, "You don't want it? Can I have it?"
Amber nodded and replied naturally, "It's yours."
The cleaning lady, getting her permission, picked up the box with a smile and thanked her profusely.
Guests staying in hotel suites were usually wealthy, and the things they discarded were often too expensive for ordinary people.
So, the cleaning staff often found some nice items discarded by the guests.
Amelia wasn't affected by Frederick's actions.
After drying her hair with the hair dryer, she lay down and slept until Rachel came to wake her up in the morning.
Rachel woke Amelia and called a stylist to do her makeup. Rachel chose a purple suit for Amelia, the same as hers.
Their skin was both very fair, and their figures were similar. When they stood together, they looked like twins.
After changing, Amelia naturally linked arms with Rachel.
When Amelia was beside Rachel, her behavior was slightly more lively than usual.
The two went downstairs together.
The hotel receptionist was sharing desserts.
"I just checked. This dessert is from an internationally renowned pastry chef. Ordinary people can't even buy it. It's too extravagant for Amber to just give it away."
"There have been rumors online that Amber and Frederick are dating. It might be true. After all, Amber is just a small influencer. How could she get such top-notch desserts?"
Hearing Amber mentioned, Amelia glanced over.
She immediately saw the gift box on the counter, a flash of surprise in her eyes, but she quickly composed herself.
Rachel also glanced over.
Her cold gaze swept across, bringing a chill that seemed to freeze everything around.
The receptionist froze for a few seconds and then quickly removed the gift box.
Despite being intimidated by Rachel's gaze, their eyes still involuntarily fell on Rachel and Amelia, unable to look away.
Rachel had a strikingly beautiful face, while Amelia exuded the gentle and graceful aura of a lady.
When they stood together, they complemented each other perfectly, both so beautifully.
Sebastian drove the car to the hotel entrance. Seeing Amelia and Rachel coming out together, he quickly got out to open the door, his manner both gentlemanly and careful.
As Amelia bent down to get in the car, she thanked him softly. "Thank you, Sebastian."
Hearing Amelia's greeting, Sebastian felt so excited he could almost cry.
He had spent the whole night worrying.
He had been anxious all night about offending Amelia and not being able to marry Rachel. Now, his heart was finally half at ease.
