Chapter 223 Frederick Had Never Been So Rough with Her
Amelia didn't expect such a thing to involve her.
She really shouldn't have gone out today.
"Isn't there any surveillance in the hallway?" Amelia replied softly, not inclined to defend herself against Angela's accusations.
Virgil, seeing Angela stir up trouble among the inner hall guests over trivial matters and trying to steer the conversation, instantly grew furious.
He suddenly raised his hand and slapped Silas, cursing, "You bray. Get out to the outer hall."
Earlier, Virgil hadn't acted because he wanted to save Silas some face, but he didn't expect Silas to be so clueless and disruptive.
Virgil rarely used physical punishment on his children. Silas and Billy had hardly ever been hit growing up.
Now, being hit, Silas looked up at Virgil in disbelief.
Virgil's face was stern and full of authority, making Silas too scared to cause more trouble.
Rachel coldly smiled and glanced at Amber standing next to Angela.
Angela and Amelia had no prior interactions, let alone grievances.
She suspected Amber was deliberately guiding the situation.
Rachel's gaze lightly fell on the bracelet adorning Amber's wrist, recognizing it instantly.
She had a good memory and quickly recalled seeing this design draft in Frederick's office.
Frederick had once consulted her about the details of a lost bracelet of Amelia's.
The bracelet Amelia wore was a piece of jewelry left by their mother, and Amelia had always liked it.
The bracelet Amber was wearing was an unfinished version of that design draft.
"Ms. Torres, your words are interesting. Just because someone passed by your dressing room, does that mean they stole your necklace? Then, the bracelet on your bridesmaid's wrist looks quite similar to the one Amelia has worn for many years. Can I just accuse her randomly?" Rachel retorted.
Amber stiffened at Rachel's sudden mention and nervously covered the bracelet on her wrist, betraying her guilt with her anxious actions.
Because she was too nervous, her actions seemed especially guilty.
Rachel chuckled softly and said, "I'm just joking. Why are you so nervous? Unless..." She didn't finish her sentence, slightly opened her mouth, then covered her lips with her long, beautiful fingers, leaving everyone to their imagination.
Sebastian stood by, watching.
To him, Rachel's scheming and exaggerated expression was particularly adorable. She was always adorable as long as she wasn't targeting him.
All eyes turned to Amber.
Despite Amber tightly covering the bracelet, Frederick still caught a glimpse of it.
He remembered every version of the bracelet's design draft vividly, so when he saw the bracelet, his deep blue eyes instantly turned cold, his brows furrowed, and his forehead tightened.
He suddenly recalled what Amelia had said to him on her birthday.
Reflecting on that moment still pained him.
So, this was the truth.
Amber also looked at Frederick in a panic, cold sweat forming on her forehead.
She was very afraid that Frederick would say something inappropriate for the occasion.
This bracelet was indeed stolen from Frederick's design draft.
Angela also noticed Amber's nervousness, and her expression darkened slightly as she asked, "Amber, what's wrong with you?"
Under everyone's gaze, Amber took a deep breath, suppressed her inner panic, and calmly said, "This bracelet of mine is a counterfeit, and I didn't want it to offend everyone."
As she said this, her expression was very embarrassed.
She didn't want to tarnish her own reputation, but if Frederick suddenly demanded the bracelet back, that would be even more humiliating.
The onlookers sneered upon hearing this revelation.
Angela felt humiliated too, knowing Amber was her bridesmaid. Amber wearing a counterfeit reflected poorly on Angela as well.
The people present were not only mocking Amber for wearing a fake but also looking down on Angela.
In their eyes, Angela was not of high standing, so the person in her social circle was also not of high standing.
Angela had always thought Amber's character was gentle and graceful, which was why she had chosen her as a bridesmaid, thinking there would be no mistakes.
However, she hadn't expected to be mocked because of her.
Moreover, Amelia wasn't just a social media personality! She was Rachel's sister!
Rachel's reputation was very prominent in their circle.
After all, the top three influencers on the earnings list were all under the Davis Group's subsidiary companies.
The Davis Group had sold off heavy assets and invested heavily in short video development.
Their short video apps were now top-tier in the industry.
Anyone in the influencer business had to respect the Davis Group.
Angela almost offended Rachel due to misinformation, making her very anxious now.
The situation had escalated to this point, and if it continued, they would gain nothing.
Silas had already annoyed Virgil, and if she didn't admit her mistake, things would be irreversible.
Angela bit her lip tightly, thought for a moment, and suddenly knelt before Virgil. "I'm sorry. Silas and I were wrong. Sorry, Ms. Davis. Sorry, everyone."
Silas was stunned when Angela suddenly knelt. He wanted to help her up, but Angela whispered to him, "Silas, apologize quickly."
Silas hesitated, feeling too embarrassed.
Patricia sighed, not wanting everyone to think they had mistreated Silas and Angela. So, she said softly, "No need to apologize. Angela, get up quickly."
Patricia walked over to Angela and helped her up.
Virgil didn't want them embarrassing themselves further and said sternly, "Go back to the outer hall."
Angela got up, pulling Silas with her.
Amber also followed, keeping her head down. As she was about to pass by Frederick, Frederick said coldly, "Leave the bracelet."
Amber froze, wanting to escape quickly, but her steps stopped involuntarily.
She looked up at Frederick with a slightly aggrieved expression. "Frederick."
She had already self-deprecated, but he still wouldn't let her go.
She bit her lip tightly, stubbornly covered her wrist, and pleaded, "Does it have to be this way?"
Frederick's eyes narrowed coldly, exuding a strong sense of oppression. He repeated coldly, "Hand it over."
Amber didn't dare to persist and could only lower her head to unfasten the bracelet, but she was too nervous to undo the clasp.
With a cold expression, Frederick reached out and removed the bracelet forcefully, causing it to snap off her wrist, leaving a stinging sensation.
Her wrist was scratched by the bracelet. Frederick had never treated her so roughly before.
Amber felt aggrieved and on the verge of tears.
