Chapter 336 He Is Eager to Marry Into the Davis Family
Frederick tightened his grip on Amelia's arm and muttered, "So, where do you think I should stay?"
Amelia raised an eyebrow and replied calmly, "You have a place to stay."
Frederick brushed her hair, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Even a kept lover gets a place. I have no money, and you won't even arrange a spot for me. Ms. Davis, you're being a bit harsh."
Amelia felt a bit embarrassed but quickly composed herself. "You are not a sugar baby; you are redeeming your crime. Not the same."
Frederick felt a sting from her words but was comforted by her scent. At least she still needed him.
"So, when will you give me a chance to redeem myself?" he murmured, lightly nibbling her earlobe.
After three years of marriage, he knew her sensitive spots well.
Amelia stiffened and pushed him away with her elbow. "If you keep this up, I'll make you get out."
Frederick chuckled, "This is my car."
Amelia paused. "Then I'll get out."
Frederick held her tighter. "That won't do."
Amelia snorted and said no more.
Holding her, Frederick felt his inner turmoil ease.
Amelia, tired of the same posture, pushed him. "Let go. I need to go back."
Frederick said calmly, "I'll take you."
Amelia didn't refuse.
Frederick rolled down the window and waved. Felix jogged over, opened the driver's door, and asked, "Mr. Hastings, where to?"
Frederick, holding Amelia with one arm, said, "To the Davis Manor."
Felix nodded and glanced at the rearview mirror. He saw Amelia on the left side of the back seat, with Frederick pressed against her, leaving plenty of space on the right.
Felix had expected an argument, given Frederick's earlier mood. But now, seeing them close, he felt relieved. It seemed Frederick was back in Amelia's good graces, thanks to Anna.
Amelia felt hot, squeezed by Frederick. She pushed him, but he didn't budge.
"Frederick, move over a bit, I'm hot," she said softly.
Felix, driving, heard her and quickly said, "Ms. Davis, I'll turn on the air conditioning."
He set it to maximum cooling. Felix felt very cold in the front seat but didn't complain.
With the air conditioning on, Amelia felt better but glanced at Frederick, exasperated.
Frederick smirked and pulled her closer. "The air conditioning works well. Don't catch a cold."
Amelia stayed silent.
When they arrived at the Davis Manor, Felix quickly opened the back door for them.
Amelia walked straight toward the house, with Frederick following leisurely.
Rachel's car was parked at the entrance.
Tina got out, holding a gift from her business trip, and handed it to Felix.
As she approached, Felix sneezed several times.
"Got a cold?" Tina asked, handing him the gift box.
Felix grinned, opened it, and found a ceramic ornament. "A token of love?"
Tina rolled her eyes. "Nice try. It's a local specialty from Sunvista. Thanks for the help with the Kingsley Group."
Felix remembered Tina's trip was half a month ago. "If I hadn't reminded you, would you have given it to me?"
Tina pouted. "Probably not."
Felix's excitement faded, and he sneezed again.
Tina, with a poker face, asked, "Keeping the air conditioning on when you are with a cold?"
It was autumn, and the weather wasn't hot enough for AC.
Felix sneezed again. "Mr. Hastings' fiery heart needed cooling. You wouldn't understand."
He suddenly thought of something and asked, "Tina, did you know about Ms. Anna Davis's identity?"
Tina, wary of Felix's probing, asked calmly, "What identity?"
Felix smirked. "Your eyes already gave it away."
Tina frowned, worried. Felix's question meant Anna's identity was discovered.
Seeing Rachel coming down the steps, she stopped chatting and walked back to Rachel's car.
Rachel almost bumped into Amelia. "Discovered?" she asked, glancing at Frederick.
Amelia nodded lightly.
Rachel smiled, said nothing more, and walked away.
As she passed Frederick, she sensed his good mood.
Frederick, feeling cheerful, spoke up. "Rachel, heading back to the office?"
Rachel responded with a light "hmm" and quickly left.
She got into the car, and Tina, closing the door, sat in the driver's seat. "Felix probed me about Ms. Anna Davis's identity. Mr. Hastings might have noticed. Should we hire a custody lawyer?"
Rachel replied calmly, "Not yet. He's eager to marry into the Davis family, so custody isn't on his mind."
