Chapter 265 A Spy Sent by a Rival Company?

Tina saw that Sebastian and Clara were both drenched and stepped over to Rachel, whispering, "Ms. Davis, there's a meeting at the company later."

"I know," Rachel replied calmly. She rose from the sofa and walked towards the door.

Her bodyguards followed, and the group left Lantern Mansion.

The reception manager at Lantern Mansion wiped his sweat nervously, relieved that Rachel hadn't come to make things difficult for them.

Seeing Rachel leave, Sebastian took a step forward, intending to follow her.

Clara reached out and grabbed Sebastian, her expression troubled.

She said lightly, "Sebastian, my clothes..."

Clara was wearing a white shirt today, with a darker undergarment. Now that she was soaked, her shirt had become see-through.

Clara bit her lip tightly, her expression one of embarrassment, and she was trembling all over.

Sebastian frowned, took off his suit jacket, and handed it to Clara before chasing after Rachel.

"Rachel." Sebastian ran over quickly but was stopped by Rachel's bodyguards.

Rachel halted.

Hope ignited in Sebastian's eyes as he spoke, "Rachel, are you still angry?"

His voice carried a hint of humility, and Tina couldn't help but glance at Rachel's expression.

Rachel remained unchanged, still cold, revealing no joy or sorrow.

She slowly turned around, looking at the drenched Sebastian.

The jacket Sebastian had been wearing was now nowhere to be seen.

Rachel glanced up and saw Clara standing in the middle of Lantern Mansion's entrance, wearing Sebastian's jacket and looking at them pitifully.

Sebastian followed Rachel's gaze and looked back, pausing for a moment before quickly explaining. "Rachel, she was exposed, so..."

Rachel's voice was icy. "What does that have to do with you?"

Sebastian stiffened. "It really has nothing to do with me. I just..."

Rachel glanced at his confused state and then looked away. "I will send a notice about the annulment of our engagement."

With that, Rachel bent down and got into the car.

Sebastian turned pale, and he reached out to grab Rachel's hand, but Rachel's bodyguards stopped him.

"Mr. Kingsley, behave yourself," one bodyguard interrupted.

Sebastian watched the car door close, panic rising in his heart.

He knew that if Rachel left this time, he would never have another chance.

So he used all his strength, struggling desperately, but was eventually pinned to the ground by Rachel's bodyguards.

"Sorry, Mr. Kingsley," a bodyguard said.

After all, he was just one person. No matter how skilled he was, he couldn't fight off so many people.

His eyes were bloodshot, staring intently at Rachel's car.

After a while, Rachel slowly rolled down his car's rear window. Her flawless and beautiful face came into view.

Hope rekindled in Sebastian's eyes. "Rachel!"

Rachel sat in the car, glancing at him, holding a gold-embossed card between her long, slender fingers.

She flicked it lightly, and the card landed in front of Sebastian.

Sebastian looked up at Rachel in confusion.

Rachel's tone was indifferent, devoid of any emotion.

She said indifferently, "I heard you spent some money preparing for the wedding. That's money spent on me, so I should return it to you. The extra amount can be considered a breakup fee. After all, you'll need money to support a woman and child in the future."

As Rachel finished speaking, the driver started the car and drove away.

Sebastian watched the departing car, shouting in panic, "Rachel, that child has nothing to do with me! That child is not mine!"

He roared his explanation, his face and neck flushed red from the effort.

However, the car showed no sign of stopping.

It wasn't until Rachel's car disappeared down the avenue that her bodyguards released Sebastian, their demeanor polite as they left.

"Mr. Kingsley, sorry for the offense," one of the bodyguards apologized.

Sebastian didn't respond. Once released, he no longer struggled but instead pounded the ground weakly.

Clara stood not far away, biting her finger tightly.

She knew Rachel was very strong-willed, but she hadn't expected her to be so unyielding, completely disregarding Sebastian's dignity.

After a long silence, the staff of Lantern Mansion behind her began to whisper among themselves.

Ignoring their curious glances, Clara quickly walked over to Sebastian. She muttered, "Sebastian, I'm sorry. I didn't know I would cause you so much trouble."

Sebastian said nothing, getting up from the ground with a look of utter defeat.

Clara stood quietly by his side, silently accompanying him.

Rachel sat in the car, took out her phone, and edited a message on social media: [Broken up, no reconciliation.]

After posting the message, Rachel put down her phone, and the car was filled with the sound of violent coughing.

Tina quickly reached out to pat Rachel's back.

Tina comforted softly, "Ms. Davis, if you're really feeling unwell, let's cancel the afternoon meeting."

Rachel, having caught her breath, waved her hand. "It's just a minor cold, nothing serious. If those two don't catch a severe cold, it would be a disservice to me."

Tina remained silent.

Rachel had caught the cold the night Clara went to beg Sebastian. Rachel had stood in the rain, watching as Sebastian helped Clara up from the ground and then took the child into the Kingsley family.

From that moment on, Rachel no longer knew whether the child had anything to do with Sebastian.

"It should make them sick to death," Shirley Wright, the assistant driving the car, said indignantly.

Rachel raised an eyebrow at her gritted tone. "Do you have a grudge against them?"

Shirley quickly shook her head. "I just think Ms. Davis deserves better. Sebastian is not worthy of you."

Tina coughed lightly, reminding Shirley to say less. Ms. Davis' matters were not for employees to comment on.

Shirley had only joined Davis Group last month. She was very likable, diligent, and had an impressive educational background, which was why Rachel had kept her close.

Shirley, getting more enthusiastic, turned to look at Rachel, her eyes full of sincerity.

"Ms. Davis, you deserve someone better, like my..." Shirley chimed in.

"Watch out!" Before Shirley could finish, Tina noticed the car veering off course and quickly warned her.

Shirley turned her attention back to the road, realizing that the car had drifted into the oncoming lane. A truck was heading straight for them. In a panic, she jerked the steering wheel, but a collision was inevitable.

Due to the impact, Rachel's head hit the car window. In a daze, she heard Shirley's frightened cries and Tina's worried voice.

Frowning at Shirley's panicked expression, Rachel, despite the throbbing pain in her head, managed to say, "I suspect you're a spy sent by a rival company."

Shirley grew even more frantic.

She denied, "No, no, I'm not."

Shirley had only noticed her brother's particular interest in Rachel and wanted to introduce him to her.
