Chapter 75 He Regrets Divorce
Amber's eyes appeared innocent as she looked at him with a feigned pitiful expression.
His eyes immediately grew colder.
He replied to Felix: P1[No need.]
He wanted to see what exactly Amber was up to.
After replying to Felix's message, Frederick put away his phone.
Seeing that he had no reaction to the news, Amber added in an aggrieved tone, "I didn't do that at all."
She lightly bit her lip, appearing extremely innocent.
Witnessing her pitiful appearance, Brittany became furious.
She didn't want to argue with Amber. She sneered. "You know very well that you did."
Amber shook her head with teary eyes, vehemently denying it.
Brittany glanced coldly at her and then turned to Frederick. "Amelia is hurt. Have you apologized to her at the Davis Manor?"
Frederick raised an eyebrow and said, "Grandma, her injury was not caused by me. Why should I apologize?"
Brittany's face darkened as she said, "It may not be your fault, but you were the trigger. Your ambiguous relationship with this woman led to the current situation! It's your fault."
Amber lowered her head and remained silent.
Furrowing his brow, Frederick said, "I went to the Davis Manor last night, and I also called the Davis family today to inquire about the situation. She doesn't want to see me."
There was a tinge of frustration in his tone, and his expression appeared somewhat downcast.
Amber suddenly looked up at Frederick, unable to contain her feelings of surprise.
Seeing Frederick in this state, Brittany coldly sneered, "You deserve it."
Then she turned her head to the side, where she saw the look on Amber's face. She mocked her. "Ms. Roberts, you said you've been trying to raise funds to pay me back. How much have you raised so far?"
Amber snapped back to reality, hesitated for a moment, and replied, "600 thousand dollars."
Brittany nodded gently and glanced at Tom beside her.
Tom stepped forward, took out a card reader, and said, "Since Ms. Roberts has already raised 600 thousand dollars, let's start by repaying 600 thousand dollars."
Amber's expression slightly changed.
She hadn't actually raised 600 thousand dollars; she only had a maximum of 100 thousand dollars in her account right now.
Still, because Frederick was here, she didn't want him to think that she had returned to the country just to pester him due to a lack of money, so she lied.
"I want to give Mrs. Hastings the one million dollars in full as soon as I have it."
Brittany declined. "Just pay back however much you can right now. I can use this 600 thousand dollars to buy Amelia a bag and make her happy."
Tom politely said, "Ms. Roberts, you wouldn't happen to not have 600 thousand dollars, would you?"
Amber shook her head and said, "No, it's just that the money is on another card, and I didn't bring it with me today."
"Well," Tom said, in a calmer tone. "That's good. I thought you were planning to come back to Mr. Hastings after squandering the money during your three years abroad."
Tom was right, and it made Amber feel embarrassed. Her expression became stiff.
Brittany wasn't planning to let Amber off that easily. She glanced at Frederick and said, "Call Felix and have him go to the bank with Ms. Roberts to retrieve the card. We must get that 600 thousand dollars back today."
Amber clenched her fists tightly.
Felix was Tom's nephew and also Frederick's confidant.
Brittany handed this task over to Felix, clearly intending to humiliate Amber in front of Frederick.
Frederick nodded and said, "Alright."
Only then was Brittany satisfied. She coldly glanced at Amber and said, "You may leave now."
Amber nodded and left.
As soon as Amber walked out of the Hastings Manor, she immediately took out her phone and found Scott's contact information to call him.
"Scott, can you lend me some money?" she asked.
Scott didn't inquire about the purpose of Amber borrowing money, and agreed immediately.
Amber ended up borrowing one million dollars from Scott. When Felix arrived, she transferred the money directly to the account he designated.
Tom received the money and immediately informed Brittany.
"Ms. Roberts sent the money, but it's not 600 thousand dollars, it's one million dollars," he said.
Brittany was taking medication. Upon hearing Tom's words, she nodded slightly.
She glanced at Frederick and coldly said, "I ordered a customized bag. Tomorrow, you will help me deliver it to Amelia. I have something to do tomorrow and won't have time to go myself."
Frederick agreed, saying, "Alright."
He showed no concern for where Amber got the one million dollars from.
Brittany breathed a sigh of relief and returned to her room after taking the medicine.
Frederick sat on the couch in the living room for a while before getting up and leaving.
When he left, his phone received a message. It was Scott.
[Has Amber encountered any difficulties recently? She asked to borrow one million dollars from me and I agreed.]
Frederick looked at the message and replied expressionlessly: [I don't know.]
Scott:: [Hasn't she been in touch with you?]
Frederick: [Don't ask me about her.]
Scott: [Are you in a bad mood?]
Frederick didn’t reply.
Sebastian was with Scott. After seeing the chat messages between Scott and Frederick, he mentioned Frederick in their group chat, which had six people in it.
Sebastian: [Frederick, are you in a bad mood because of your recent divorce from Amelia?]
Upon seeing this message, Frederick put away his phone.
Noah: [He got divorced? When?]
Yves: [Congratulations! Congratulations to Mr. Hastings on being single again. Shouldn't we gather at the Maples Club tonight? Let Scott bring some beautiful women.]
Noah: [No need. Just bring Ms. Roberts.]
As soon as Noah sent this message, a system notification appeared on his phone.
He had been removed from the chat group by Frederick.
The six-person chat group suddenly lost a member, which was quite noticeable.
Sebastian quickly sent a surprised emoji.
Scott quickly added Noah back to the chat group.
As soon as Noah joined the group, he sent a broken-hearted emoji, and then followed it with a crying emoji.
Realizing that something was wrong, Sebastian immediately sent a direct message to Frederick.
Sebastian: [Do you regret it now?]
Frederick did not reply immediately. Within a few seconds, Sebastian sent him several messages.
Sebastian: [It seems like you regret it.]
Sebastian: [Do you have feelings for Amelia?]
Sebastian: [Amelia is much gentler than her sister. Maybe you still have a chance. How about apologizing to Amelia?]
Frederick frowned as he looked at these messages.
Frederick: [Why do you think I would regret it?]
