Chapter 471 You're Very Brave Today

Layla jumped in front of Nancy, glaring at Amelia. "Amelia, have you lost your mind?"

Amelia just smirked at Nancy and shrugged. "Relax. I was just kidding. Ms. Wright isn't even upset, so why are you?"

Layla was stunned into silence by Amelia's response.

Rachel shot a look at Frederick, who was still lounging in his chair, and gave him a swift kick under the table.

Frederick finally got the hint, stood up, and walked over to Nancy, his face serious as he looked at Amelia.

"Amelia!" he called out, worry flickering in his eyes. Amelia was acting so out of character today, and he was afraid she was going too far and might break up with him. He couldn't bring himself to be harsh.

Rachel frowned at Frederick, who finally spoke up, "Stop being unreasonable!"

His words lacked conviction, but to Nancy, it sounded like Frederick was already disappointed in Amelia. She felt like Frederick was weighing his feelings between her and Amelia, and the outcome seemed clear.

Nancy bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "I guess I should keep my distance from Mr. Hastings from now on. For any business matters, Mr. Hastings, please have your assistant contact me."

With that, Nancy walked out of the room, and Layla quickly followed her.

Frederick stood there, not immediately chasing after them, but looking at Amelia. Amelia met his gaze, her expression indifferent.

Frederick suddenly didn't want to keep up the act. He moved toward Amelia, but Rachel quickly stood up and pushed him back. "What, Mr. Hastings? Are you going to get mad and hit Amelia?"

Frederick's eyes darkened, and he noticed everyone in the room watching him, so he changed his tone. "I would never hit a woman!"

Until Frederick and Amelia figured out who was behind all this, they wouldn't have peace. The other side had even sent someone to the Davis Manor; if they stayed hidden, Frederick and Amelia would be at a disadvantage.

Frederick gritted his teeth and issued a stern warning. "Amelia! I don't want to see this happen again. Ms. Wright and I are only professionally involved, stop spreading rumors!"

After saying this, he glanced at Amelia with a hint of worry, then turned and left.

Amelia watched Frederick leave, feeling the eyes of others on her, and didn't dare to relax for a moment, continuing her act. She bit her lip lightly and sat down, looking at Rachel.

Rachel gently patted Amelia's shoulder. "If he wants to leave, let him go!"

Amelia lowered her head in silence.

The other business partners, seeing this, averted their eyes. They had thought Amelia was smart, but in the end, it was just jealousy. They had been dragged into this by Amelia, and as a result, now they had to give Rachel an explanation.

Rachel looked at Amelia's tired face and said to Tina at the door, "Take Amelia home."

Tina nodded, helped Amelia up, and said softly, "Ms. Amelia Davis, let's go."

Amelia gave a slight nod, looking at Rachel and asking softly, "What about you?"

Rachel smiled, her eyes scanning the business partners in the room, her tone icy. "I put on a show for you all, and you enjoyed it, so you should pay for the performance, right?"

The partners, seeing Rachel's cold smile, felt a chill. One man spoke up, "Ms. Davis, we never intended to work with Ms. Wright. Comparing the two, your strength is clearly greater; we wouldn't be so foolish."

Seeing Rachel still in control, Amelia felt more at ease and let Tina help her out of the room.

Tina drove, while Amelia sat in the back, gazing out the window, feeling unusually good.

Tina noticed Amelia's good mood and smiled. "Ms. Davis, you were really brave today."

Amelia looked at Tina and smiled. "I was a bit worried earlier that causing trouble would affect Rachel."

Tina laughed. "It won't. Ms. Rachel Davis always acts with great discretion, but sometimes, she's too cautious, which makes them think she's easy to manipulate. If you hadn't played your part in the room, those shrewd business partners might have been swayed by Nancy, putting the Davis Group in a tough spot."

Amelia had never been interested in the deceitful world of business. But now, as Tina talked about it, she listened intently.

Tina continued, "Nancy just wants to make money in Kasfee and expand there; her company is still in Yaradia. Ms. Rachel Davis learned some things during her visit to Fondaniss, so she had to temporarily shift the battlefield back to Kasfee. She plans to trap Nancy's funds in Kasfee."

Layla returned to the country with the intention of taking over the Davis Group. With enough capital, they could compete with Charles, especially with the support of their backers in Yaradia. If Nancy's funds were trapped in Kasfee, they would eventually retreat to Yaradia, and Rachel could then expand in Yaradia.

But Nancy was also cautious. Even though she had heard that the Davis Group was very interested in the West Suburb Project, Nancy still didn't invest heavily, only using a small amount to test the waters. It was a long-term battle, and it depended on who showed a flaw first.

Listening to Tina, Amelia frowned and asked seriously, "If Rachel's plan fails, what will happen to the Davis Group?"

Tina was silent for a few seconds, then said softly, "If the plan fails, the Davis Group might be crushed by the major families in Kasfee. They're all targeting the Davis family. Those families allied with the Davis family also want to expand their own businesses, and both the Davis Group and Nancy's funds are tempting targets."

Hearing Tina's words, Amelia's expression changed slightly, feeling shocked. She knew Rachel had been working hard, bearing all the pressure alone.

But she hadn't realized that beneath Rachel's calm exterior, she was dealing with so much turmoil alone. Amelia felt deeply ashamed. Her earlier joy vanished instantly.
