Chapter 123 Her Injuries Were Not Serious

Tina drove ahead, stealing a glance at the rearview mirror. She saw Frederick's car consistently following them from behind, causing her to unconsciously increase the speed.

Amelia noticed the change in speed and tightened her grip on Anna's hand.

"What's wrong?" she asked in a low voice.

Tina softly replied, "Mr. Hastings' car is behind us."

Amelia turned her head and indeed saw Frederick's car right behind them. No matter how Tina changed the route, his car always followed at a steady pace.

She rubbed her forehead and calmed down. In a very calm tone, she said, "Don't worry about him."

Having received Amelia's instructions, Tina also slowed down the car's speed.

When they were about to reach Davis Manor, Frederick suddenly turned his car in a different direction and drove away.

At the entrance of Davis Manor, Tina parked the car and then got out to help Amelia open the door.

When Amelia got out of the car, she couldn't help but glance back, but she didn't see Frederick's car following them.

Perhaps Frederick wasn't following her from the beginning, it was just her imagination.

Tina naturally noticed that Amelia had just glanced at the road behind them, and she had already noticed that Frederick's car had left.

Amelia probably still cared about Frederick, so she had some expectations.

"Ms. Davis." Tina spoke softly, but before she could finish her sentence, Amelia squeezed out a faint smile.

Her smile was faint, and she interrupted Tina's words in a low voice. "Thank you, Tina. It's getting late, so I won't keep you."

"Ms. Davis, you're too kind. I'm just doing my job." Tina respectfully responded to Amelia's kindness and also escorted her into Davis Manor.

Susan had come back early and saw Amelia returning with Anna. She immediately went forward to help.

Susan carried Anna upstairs, and Amelia politely saw Tina off.

As Tina got into the car, she saw Amelia standing at the entrance of Davis Manor.

Looking at Amelia's dignified and gentle appearance, Tina couldn't understand why Frederick had fallen in love with Amber in the first place and divorced Amelia.

After seeing Tina off, Amelia went back inside. She walked into the bedroom and Susan had already bathed Anna.

Anna was sitting obediently on her own couch, holding a bottle of formula and drinking from it. Susan was combing Anna's hair on the side.

Seeing Anna's cute appearance, Amelia's mood that had been bottled up completely dissipated. She walked over to Anna, crouched down, and pinched Anna's cheeks.

The faint frustration in her heart was also healed.

The next day, she returned to the hospital. She ran into Nicole, who was getting off work, at the hospital entrance.

Nicole had been on duty at the hospital last night and saw Amelia coming to work, so she walked over and grabbed Amelia's hand.

"Amber was brought to the hospital for emergency treatment last night."

Amelia raised an eyebrow, thinking about how Frederick had been following her last night but then abruptly turned away. She softly said, "Did Frederick bring her here?"

Nicole paused and stared at Amelia, asking, "You already knew?"

Amelia smiled and shook her head. "No. But I could guess."

Seeing Amelia's relaxed demeanor, Nicole felt relieved that she didn't seem to care about Frederick. She reached out and patted Amelia's shoulder. "You've finally let go."

Amelia simply smiled lightly, then glanced at her watch and bid farewell to Nicole before entering the hospital.

Amber had been brought in for emergency treatment last night, so she was staying in the Emergency Department, but under the care of other doctors.

During the morning rounds, Amelia was also part of the medical team.

Amber lay on the hospital bed, wearing a neck brace. She had two assistants by her side.

When the doctors came in for rounds, Amber immediately spotted Amelia among them.

"Ms. Davis." She greeted Amelia with a smile, but her facial expression showed discomfort, as she was holding her neck.

Amelia nodded slightly, maintaining her calm composure without any ripples of emotion.

After a brief examination of Amber's condition, the doctors left her room.

Amber's condition remained excellent in all aspects, without any abnormalities that others could detect.

After the rounds, Amelia proactively requested to go to the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department was busy and exhausting, but since Amelia willingly wanted to go, no one stopped her.

In the Emergency Department, Amelia didn't have to encounter Amber or have any contact with her, saving her from some complicated issues.

After finishing her shift, Amelia stretched and went to the staff room to change out of her work uniform. After bidding her colleagues goodbye, she left the hospital.

She walked to the garage and was about to get into her car when a silver sedan parked next to her.

"Ms. Davis."

The car window rolled down, and Amelia saw Quentin's smiling face.

Amelia politely greeted Quentin. "Mr. Adams."

Quentin really wanted to find a parking spot and have a conversation with Amelia immediately, but all the spots in the garage were taken.

"The hospital parking spots are always scarce, Mr. Adams. You can have my spot." As she spoke, Amelia got into her car.

Quentin had come to the hospital specifically to run into Amelia, but he hadn't expected her to not care at all about why he was there. She even directly got into her car and drove away, considerately giving him her parking spot.

Quentin looked at the now empty spot, feeling disgruntled, but still drove his car into it and parked.

Amelia drove her car out of the hospital garage and noticed that the car in front of her was Frederick's car when she passed the entrance gate. She paused for a moment, with a hint of annoyance in her eyes, but quickly regained her composure.

After Frederick's car left, she followed suit and drove in a different direction at the intersection ahead.

Meanwhile, Felix was driving and reporting work to Frederick. He didn't pay any attention to Amelia's car passing by from behind.

"Ms. Roberts' injuries are not very serious, and she seems emotionally stable. However, she refuses to mention what happened last night. I learned from the police station that she seems willing to forgive Mike."

Mike was a supervisor of a subsidiary company under the Hastings Group. Frederick discovered that Mike had close connections with a rival company, and during that period, the subsidiary's plans and data were constantly being leaked. Therefore, Frederick personally fired him.

During that busy period for the Hastings Group, Frederick didn't hold Mike accountable.

But Mike found out that Frederick had collected evidence of his crimes and was going to pursue him. So, Mike chose to kidnap Amber to threaten Frederick.

When Frederick arrived, Mike had already escaped.

However, he left a message for Frederick, stating that if he continued to investigate, he would never let Amber go in the future.
