Chapter 130 Daniel Was Not Worthy of Such A Lovely Daughter!
Daniel saw her speechless and chuckled softly.
"Three years ago, you said we were just friends. Over these years, I've also been interacting with you as a friend. Amelia, can't we even be friends now?"
Although his face still carried the warm smile of the past, the sadness in his eyes was reflected in Amelia's eyes.
Amelia was at a loss for words. She moved her lips. But before she could speak, Daniel continued.
"Has our friendship burdened you as well?"
Amelia hesitated for a moment, then shook her head quickly. "No, it hasn't."
Daniel smiled at her response. "That's good then."
Amelia smiled awkwardly.
Looking at her silence, Daniel smiled and looked ahead. They arrived at the airport without Amelia speaking again.
At the airport entrance, Amelia parked the car. Daniel opened his door and got out to retrieve the luggage.
Amelia also got out of the car to accompany Daniel inside the airport.
"You can just drop me off here," Daniel said gently, as he walked ahead. He stopped and turned to look back at Amelia following him.
"This time, I don't know when I'll be back. But I'll still listen to your advice and meet that girl in Fondaniss."
Upon hearing this, Amelia looked up at Daniel, smiling faintly.
"I heard from your mom that she's nice. Maybe you'll like her when you get to know her?"
Daniel's smile froze slightly. There was perhaps nothing more heartbreaking than being persuaded by the one he cherished to develop feelings for someone else.
He sighed and reached out to ruffle Amelia's hair.
"You are still the same as before, wearing your heart on your sleeve. Your thoughts are always written all over your face."
Amelia was speechless.
Daniel sighed. "I deeply regret choosing to go abroad when our relationship was at its peak. Otherwise, I might still have stood a chance against Frederick."
Amelia pursed her lips. Many years ago, when Daniel emigrated with the Vanderbilts, she truly felt sorrow for a long time. However, who could truly understand what happened afterward?
Their relationship at that time was indeed very good, but it was not one between lovers.
She looked up at Daniel, smiling as she said, "Daniel. We must look ahead."
Daniel smiled helplessly. "You're telling me to look ahead, while you can't seem to let go of Frederick?"
How could Daniel not understand what she was hiding in her heart?
Back then, she had already prepared to join the local hospital of Fondaniss at Saint Mary's Castle. However, just as the rumors of Frederick's engagement surfaced, she promptly rushed back to Kasfee.
Amelia remained silent.
Daniel smiled and withdrew his hand. "Let's meet again when I come back."
Amelia nodded, just standing quietly in place. She watched his departing figure, feeling inexplicably conflicted.
She and Daniel were somewhat similar: they both wanted something they could not have.
Paul accompanied Frederick to the airport to see off an important partner of the Hastings Group.
Just as they had seen them off, Paul was still talking to Frederick when the person in front suddenly stopped.
Paul almost bumped into Frederick's back as he couldn't stop in time.
Following Frederick's gaze, Paul saw Daniel's hand caressing Amelia's hair at the airport entrance not far away. They seemed to be having a conversation.
The reluctance in Amelia's eyes was about to overflow.
Paul felt the calm atmosphere just a moment ago suddenly became tense. Looking at Frederick heading toward them, Paul couldn't help but take a deep breath.
Frederick stopped beside Amelia.
Sensing someone approaching, Amelia turned around. She saw Frederick, her eyes slightly dazed, but she quickly composed herself.
"Mr. Hastings. Going on a business trip?"
Frederick looked indifferent, gazing toward the boarding gate. "Last night you stayed at my place. Did your boyfriend get jealous?"
Amelia frowned instantly.
Daniel, who was entering the boarding gate with his luggage, couldn't help but turn back to look at Amelia. However, he saw her standing next to Frederick and immediately halted his steps.
Frederick, noticing Daniel looking at them together, showed no reaction, his eyes cold.
"It seems your boyfriend doesn't care much about you. He doesn't care about your entanglements with anyone."
Listening to Frederick's provocative words, Amelia glanced at him.
"Then tell me, who am I entangled with?"
Frederick furrowed his brows.
Amelia smiled, taking the initiative to step away from Frederick. "Is it you who wants to be entangled with me? Or is it me who wants to be entangled with you? Let's make it clear. After all, I don't want to be entangled with a man who has a fiancée?"
Frederick looked cold.
"Don't you prefer to be entangled with a man who has a fiancée? If I remember correctly, when you were with Daniel, he seemed to have a fiancée."
Amelia looked at Frederick quietly, seriously considering the matter for a moment.
"I misspoke. I just simply don't want to be entangled with you, Mr. Hastings. Is that clear enough?"
She smiled mockingly, then walked past him.
Frederick felt frustrated and sad, coldly turning to watch Amelia walk away.
Paul stood to the side with his head down, afraid that Frederick's unvented anger would be directed at him.
A call from the CEO's office came in, successfully rescuing him.
Paul immediately turned to answer the call.
On the other end of the line, the voice of the secretary, Linda, came through. "Mr. Davis and Ms. Anna come to the Hastings Group from Davis Manor. They're here to see Mr. Hastings."
Paul heard this and turned to Frederick. "Mr. Hastings, Mr. Davis and Ms. Anna are at the Hastings Group."
Frederick's dark eyes flickered, and the coldness in his eyes subsided. He walked out of the airport.
Anna was being held by Vincent. Her round big eyes stare politely at Linda, inquiring.
"Can I talk to Uncle Frederick?"
Linda couldn't refuse such a polite request from such a lovely child. Hesitating for a moment, she whispered to Paul, "Ms. Anna wants to talk to Mr. Hastings."
Paul immediately turned his gaze to Frederick and said, "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Anna wants to talk to you."
Frederick took the phone from Paul upon hearing this.
On the other end, Linda handed the receiver to Anna. She held the phone with both hands to her ear, her voice sweet and obedient.
"Uncle Frederick."
Upon hearing this sweet voice, Frederick felt both frustrated and comforted.
How could Daniel have such a lovely daughter? If this daughter were his own, it would be great!
