Chapter 177 She Would Even If She Didn't Have a Name

General Hospital.

After filing the documents, Amelia was about to leave work when she looked up and saw Amber entering her office with something in her hands.

"Ms. Davis, I'm not disturbing you, am I?" Amber asked.

Amelia frowned and glanced at the gift box on her desk, her eyes slightly cold.

"I said you were bothering me, but you won't leave," Amelia replied.

Amber was prepared, so she managed to keep her composure in the face of Amelia's cold response.

"I’m not leaving. I have something I want you to help me with," Amber said.

Amber opened the carefully packaged desserts she had brought.

"I've been studying how to make delicious desserts, and I've finally learned how to do it. It tastes pretty good, so I brought some specially for Brittany," Amber said.

Amelia's lips curved slightly, and she glanced casually at the exquisite pastries in the gift box.

"I didn't know I had such a nice granddaughter like you," Amelia said.

Amber's face stiffened. She had not expected Amelia to take advantage of her.

She took a deep breath and immediately said, "I just want you to pass them on to Brittany."

Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "So it's not for me. I misunderstood."

Amber frowned.

Amelia smiled and walked past her.

"Ms. Roberts, our relationship isn't good enough for me to help you with gifts. You're really good at causing trouble," Amelia said.

Amber's face stiffened slightly. When she saw that Amelia was about to leave, she reached out and grabbed Amelia's arm.

"Ms. Davis, Brittany wouldn't like me if you were there. If I gave it to her, she wouldn't be happy either. I just want to do something for her. You can even tell her that you made it yourself. It doesn't matter," Amelia said.

Amelia stopped in her tracks, looking at Amber sideways.

Amber's expression was sincere, like a woman willing to endure grievances for love.

"Ms. Roberts, you like to take credit for other people’s achievements. You must think I'm like you. I don't like taking credit for other people’s work," Amelia said.

As Amber listened to Amelia's words, her face stiffened. She suddenly looked up, staring at Amelia with a mix of fear and scrutiny.

"You..." Amber said.

Did Amelia know that Frederick had actually liked Amelia back then, and Amber had been mistaken for that person?

If she knew, Frederick might know, too.

Amber panicked inside.

Amelia's brows furrowed slightly when she saw Amber’s strong reaction.

It seemed that Amber had a history of appropriating other people’s achievements.

Otherwise, a mere casual rebuttal wouldn't have elicited such a strong reaction from her.

Amelia shook off Amber's hand abruptly, casting a disdainful glance at her.

The more she understood Amber's character, the more lonely Amelia felt.

She had actually lost to someone like this.

She couldn't understand what Frederick liked about her.

Could it be that a man could never forget his first lover, no matter how bad her character was, or how improper her behavior was?

As Amelia shook off Amber's hand, the bracelet on Amber's wrist suddenly broke and fell to the ground.

Amelia took a step forward, accidentally stepping on the bracelet.

She glanced down, about to look away, when she suddenly felt the bracelet looked familiar.

Both she and Amber bent down to pick up the bracelet.

Amelia picked up the bracelet first.

When Amber saw Amelia's apparent interest in her bracelet, she realized what was going on and smiled.

"Frederick designed this necklace, and there's only one in the world. Ms. Davis, if you like it, I can give it to you," Amber said.

Amelia smiled coldly when she heard that.

This bracelet had a similar design to the one her mother had left her.

Since she had lost her bracelet, Amelia had thought it was hers when she had seen this one.

She examined it carefully, and although it was similar, it was not the same.

Amelia handed the bracelet back to Amber with a faint smile.

"It's a one-of-a-kind counterfeit, alright," Amelia said.

Amber looked at Amelia, her expression changing slightly.

Amelia looked calm and proud. Her mocking gaze at the bracelet in Amber's hand was undisguised.

Amber's expression stiffened.

The design of this bracelet had been personally drawn by Frederick. There was no mistake.

When she had received the photo of this design, she was immediately attracted by the style, so she had gotten it made by a craftsman.

She hadn't expected Amelia to recognize the bracelet and claim it was a counterfeit.

Amber took a deep breath, feeling humiliated.

She bit her lip tightly, hesitated for a few seconds, then looked up at Amelia.

"Ms. Davis, if you’re saying my bracelet is counterfeit, I want to see what kind of bracelet Frederick gave you," Amber said.

Frederick had never given Amelia a bracelet.

Her bracelet was a keepsake her mother had left her, and she had lost it.

When Amber saw that she didn't answer, she came up with a plan and decided to turn the tables.

"Frederick didn't give you a bracelet, Ms. Davis! You're just trying to sow discord between me Frederick by making me think he gave you a bracelet," Amber said.

Amelia looked at Amber as if she were a fool, then sighed.

She said, "All the gifts you’ve ever received are from Frederick. You’ve never received gifts from anyone else. Your life must be really sad."

Amber's face changed abruptly, and she hurriedly said, "I've received many gifts from people, of course. Colleagues, fans, and friends have all given me gifts. I..."

She wanted to say she didn't lack for anything and many people gave her gifts.

But when she saw Amelia looking at her calmly, Amber felt that her hurried explanation seemed like she was showing off what she lacked.

After she had broken up with Frederick, she had never received gifts from him again. Even the bracelet in her hand had been stolen from a drawing Frederick made.

She didn't lack anything; she just lacked gifts from Frederick.

Amber quickly adjusted her mindset as she realized she had fallen into negative emotions.

She looked at Amelia, pursed her lips lightly, and slowly said, "Ms. Davis, my life was indeed very sad, but after I had Frederick, I bid farewell to the sadness completely. You were born a noble, so naturally, you don't understand how someone like me needs to work hard to rise from the lower class to cross social barriers and touch the circles you were born into. In your eyes, perhaps I'm despicable, but as long as I am a determined and courageous woman in Frederick's eyes, that's enough."

As Amber spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Never mind the bracelet. Even if I am a counterfeit, it doesn't matter. I'm willing to do anything as long as I can be with the person I love," Amber said.
