Chapter 345 Not Working With Him

The group chat went quiet for a bit, then Yves texted.

Yves: [Frederick, Sebastian's always had a sharp tongue. Don't let it get to you.]

Noah jumped in quickly.

Noah: [Yeah, he's always been like this. Maybe he's just going through something and isn't thinking straight.]

Since Scott left, the chat had been stable but less lively. Now, with Frederick kicking Sebastian out, only three were left.

Noah and Yves didn't want their old friends to fall apart, so they tried to calm Frederick down.

Frederick replied after seeing their messages.

Frederick: [It's not just his words. His actions have been pretty low too.]

Noah and Yves couldn't find more words to console him. They knew about the ongoing conflict between Sebastian and Rachel.

Sebastian had aired the Davis family's dirty laundry publicly, which was a nasty blow.

Yves and Noah had no idea Sebastian would go that far.

Now that Rachel sold Riverfront Estate to Charles, their collaboration was moving forward.

Yves was with Sebastian when he found out Charles was interested in Rachel.

Yves never thought Sebastian would try to bankrupt the Davis Group to keep Rachel.

Instead, it pushed Rachel toward Charles, giving him an opening.

After replying, Frederick closed the window. Just as he was about to put his phone down, Sebastian called.

Frederick answered with a blank expression.

Sebastian's voice came through, "Frederick, we've known each other forever. Are you really going to cut ties over the Davis family?"

Frederick glanced at Amelia, then looked away and said, "You've been too impulsive lately. You need to calm down."

Sebastian scoffed, "How can I calm down? Rachel is set on breaking up with me! Clara is just an excuse. She must be planning to use Charles to expand internationally."

Rachel had always been ambitious. Considering everything, Sebastian concluded this.

He had no inappropriate behavior with Clara, but Rachel wouldn't let it go, clearly planning to dump him for a while.

Frederick frowned and reminded him, "Rachel didn't leave you without chances. Lantern Mansion, the golf course, Riverfront Estate—she gave you opportunities."

Sebastian listened in silence for a long time before hanging up.

Frederick put down his phone and noticed Amelia looking his way.

He immediately sat up straight and said, "I'm not working with him."

Amelia nodded gently, "I believe you."

Frederick felt a surge of emotion. Amelia rarely used such a serious tone to say she believed him.

He felt a surge of satisfaction and couldn't resist walking over to Amelia and pulling her into his arms.

For some reason, he just wanted to hold her tight and never let go.

Amelia looked confused as Frederick suddenly hugged her. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Frederick held her tighter and said seriously, "Don't move. Just let me hold you." His voice was low and a bit hoarse.

He ran his fingers through her hair, pressing her head against his chest.

Amelia smelled his cologne, and her resistance melted away.

She stayed quietly in his arms, no longer struggling.

Anna, who was drawing, saw Frederick hug Amelia and got curious. After a while, she opened her arms too. "I want a hug, too."

Frederick loosened his hold on Amelia slightly and pulled Anna into the hug with one hand.

His embrace easily fit both Amelia and Anna.

Nestled between them, Anna found it amusing and laughed brightly.

Frederick looked at Amelia, who was gazing tenderly at Anna, and felt his heart soften.

He tightened his hold a bit, lowered his head, and kissed Amelia on the lips.

The cool touch made Amelia's eyes widen, and she looked up at Frederick.

Frederick smiled slightly and stole another kiss.

Anna looked up just in time to see this.

Seeing Anna's innocent and curious eyes, Amelia blushed and pushed Frederick away.

She cleared her throat and asked, "Have you finished your work?"

Frederick looked at her flushed cheeks and chuckled, "I'll get to it right away."

Amelia pushed him again. "Go on, then."

Frederick laughed, bent down to kiss Amelia on the cheek, then kissed Anna, and finally returned to his work.

Amelia wiped her cheek, feeling a slight flutter in her heart.

Just then, Tom called. Amelia saw it was Tom and quickly answered.

As soon as she put the phone to her ear, Tom's voice came through. "Mrs. Amelia Hastings, Mrs. Brittany Hastings misses you and Ms. Anna Davis. Are you free tonight to come to the Hastings Manor for dinner?"

Amelia replied softly, "I'm free tonight. I'll come back for dinner after Frederick finishes his work."

As Tom heard that Amelia and Frederick were together, his tone brightened. "Great, I'll have the kitchen prepare some dishes you and Ms. Anna Davis like."

Amelia responded softly, "Okay."

After getting her response, Tom quietly informed Brittany that Amelia and Frederick would be coming to the Hastings Manor for dinner tonight.

Brittany, hearing that they were together, nodded in satisfaction.

Although she still couldn't speak, the joy on her face was clear.

If Amelia and Frederick reconciled and their family of three reunited, she could pass away peacefully.
