Chapter 356 Won't Let Me Be Treated at General Hospital
Amelia saw Frederick still standing in front of her desk and couldn't help but urge him. "Hurry up and go to the company. I need to start working."
Frederick was reluctant to leave just like that. He leaned on the desk with one hand and moved closer to Amelia. He insisted, "A goodbye kiss?"
Amelia raised an eyebrow slightly and picked up the documents on the desk, hitting Frederick on the head. "Don't distract me."
When Amelia hit him with the documents, Frederick grabbed her wrist, leaned in, and kissed her cheek, then let go, satisfied.
"I'm heading to the company." He seemed more energized as he spoke as if he had been recharged.
Outside, medical staff were bustling around. Amelia's cheeks turned slightly red, and she gave him a shy, annoyed look before turning her gaze away. She demanded, "Hurry up and go."
Frederick smiled contentedly, turned, and left Amelia's office.
As he left, Amelia looked up at his back, lost in thought.
Frederick took a few steps and then turned back to her. Seeing Amelia staring at him, he stopped.
Amelia quickly averted her gaze, not looking at Frederick again as if to prevent him from coming back.
Seeing her reaction, Frederick sighed inwardly and then stepped into the elevator.
As he drove out of the garage, a woman suddenly stumbled in front of his car, getting knocked to the ground with a thud. Papers and medical reports scattered around her.
Glancing down, Frederick saw that it was Amber, his brow knitting tightly.
With a cold expression, he turned the wheel to exit through another path.
Amber lay on the ground, pain radiating through her body. Gritting her teeth against the discomfort, she began to gather the reports, but when she glanced up and saw Frederick's car, her spirits suddenly plummeted.
She bit her lip hard, wanting to take a step forward, but for some reason, her legs felt frozen and unresponsive.
Today, the staff at her studio had all resigned. She learned from them that someone had exposed her scandal. The only people who knew about her scandal were Frederick and her team members.
She didn't believe her team would betray her, so there was only one possibility: Frederick had someone leak her dirt.
She hadn't expected Frederick to be so heartless.
Biting her lip harder, she remembered her reckless decision to confront him last night and how furious he must have been. In a desperate attempt to show her good intentions, she had come to the General Hospital early that morning to check out, hoping he would see her determination to make amends.
She took a deep breath and stood there in a daze, feeling as if her body was in an ice cellar, shivering all over.
She stood there stiffly for a few seconds, then blacked out and fainted. Before she fainted, she saw Frederick's car driving out of her sight.
The person who hit Amber was terrified when they saw her faint and quickly called for medical staff to help, sending Amber to the hospital.
It just so happened that Amelia was on duty in the emergency room.
She had just stepped out of the elevator and hadn't reached the office when she saw Amber lying on a stretcher being pushed into the emergency room.
She frowned and quickened her pace, walking over to inquire about the situation before starting to examine Amber.
When Amber woke up, the first thing she saw was Amelia examining her. She reached out and grabbed Amelia. Amelia paused her work and looked at Amber.
The other medical staff also looked at Amber. Amelia's assistant gave Amber a stern look and scolded her. "Why are you grabbing the doctor's hand? Let go."
Amber refused to let go of Amelia's hand, holding on tightly. Her throat was dry, and she couldn't speak. After swallowing a few times, she looked at Amelia urgently and said seriously. "Dr. Davis, save me."
Amelia's assistant, displeased, removed Amber's hand from Amelia's. "Dr. Davis is already saving you. Don't move."
After the assistant removed Amber's hand, Amelia continued to examine her.
After finishing the examination, Amelia removed her gloves and walked to the equipment, her tone indifferent and cold. "I can't save you. Didn't you go to Frederick for help? He won't help you either?"
Amber lay on the bed, staring intently at Amelia. She said in a hoarse voice, "Frederick doesn't even want to see me. Dr. Davis, I was lying. After Frederick and I broke up, he rarely paid attention to me. After you left Kasfee, he didn't want to see me at all. I was the one creating opportunities. I was the one causing misunderstandings between you two."
As Amber spoke, tears fell from her eyes. She lay on the bed, looking particularly pitiful and helpless.
Amelia quietly looked at her for a while, then averted her gaze. She refuted indifferently, "Didn't you see him last night?"
Amber hesitated, a look of uncertainty flashing in her eyes.
Amelia was well aware of the events from the previous night.
Amber considered using this situation to her advantage, but the memory of Frederick's cold demeanor quickly shattered that thought.
Amber said truthfully, "Last night, I asked Mr. Kingsley to bring Frederick out. Frederick wasn't there to see me; he didn't even know I was at the bar. I did want to ask him to have you perform surgery on me."
Hearing this, Amelia glanced at her indifferently and responded. "Even if Frederick agreed, I wouldn't perform surgery on you. Ms. Roberts, find another doctor to treat you."
Amber quickly shook her head, "I didn't come to you today for surgery; it's another matter."
Amelia paused her work and glanced at her. She didn't ask what the matter was.
Amber looked at Amelia's assistant as if wanting to talk to Amelia alone.
Seeing this, Amelia's assistant softly asked. "Ms. Davis, should I step out for a moment?"
Amelia withdrew her gaze from Amber and continued working, "No need." As she spoke, Amber's examination report was ready. She handed the report to her assistant, her tone calm. "Take her to the examination room for a check-up."
Seeing that Amelia had no intention of hearing her out, Amber gritted her teeth in frustration. "Dr. Davis. I really know I was wrong."
Amelia stood up from her seat, looking at Amber coldly. She declared calmly, "Ms. Roberts, you're lying in front of me because you were brought in as an emergency patient, so I'm speaking to you calmly. Let me lay it out for you. First, I won't perform surgery on you. Second, our relationship isn't close enough for me to help you without hesitation. Finally, if you want to stay in our hospital for treatment, you need to re-admit yourself."
After speaking, Amelia turned to leave.
Amber's expression hardened. Watching Amelia's retreating figure, she couldn't contain her rising anger. She shouted, "Frederick won't let me get treated at General Hospital!"
