Chapter 360 Public Display of Affection

Amelia didn't want to waste time with Scott. She glanced at the time and reminded him. "There's only an hour and a half left before the examination room closes. If you don't want to go for the check-up, I can cancel the order for you right now."

As she spoke, she reached out to take the order slip from Scott's hand, but Scott quickly dodged.

"I'll go right now. Your appointment was hard to get; I can't miss this chance." Scott said as he walked out of Amelia's office.

After taking a few steps, he came back, asking, "Are all the tests done on the second floor?"

Amelia nodded.

Scott asked again, "Is there any test that you can do for me? I can do it now."

Amelia replied, "No."

Scott shrugged, his expression showing a bit of regret, "I was hoping to experience Dr. Davis's skills."

Amelia didn't respond.

Seeing her indifferent expression, Scott clicked his tongue and walked away.

Amelia sat in her office, organizing the patient cases from today.

Her computer chimed periodically with incoming diagnostic reports from various patients.

For those who urgently needed attention after exams, surgeries were immediately scheduled.

Angelina had already completed her surgery by noon and was now recovering in the inpatient unit.

Scott's examination report came out half an hour later.

Amelia had thought Scott wouldn't go upstairs for the check-up after getting the order slip, but to her surprise, he did.

Amelia opened his diagnostic report, starting with the complete blood count.

As she noted Scott's low blood sugar, it made sense why he complained of dizziness and nausea.

His other tests were fine, except for the low blood sugar, likely due to his long-term neglect of diet and staying up late.

On the other side, Scott was waiting upstairs for his examination report, looking at a string of data he couldn't understand at all.

After getting the report, he went downstairs to find Amelia.

He handed the report over to her, flopping down casually in the chair opposite her as he poked at the spot where the needle had pricked him.

The spot where he had just been pricked for blood had already been bruised, and his eyes showed a bit of resentment. He complained, "These nurses are really rough with the needles."

Amelia replied indifferently, "They can't be compared to the women in your bar."

Hearing Amelia's sarcasm, Scott raised his eyebrows slightly and fell silent.

Amelia was engrossed in the examination report, her serious and cautious expression drawing Scott's attention. He stopped joking and leaned in, curiosity piqued. "What are you looking at?"

Scott had undergone a full-body checkup, including a brain CT. Initially, Amelia had thought he was just messing around, but the low blood sugar levels indicated otherwise.

"Checking if there's anything wrong with your brain," she replied indifferently, not bothering to look up.

For a moment, Scott thought she was insulting him, but her focused expression suggested otherwise. As he regarded her delicate features and the sincerity in her beautiful eyes, something stirred inside him. "So, is there anything wrong with my brain?" he asked softly, unable to take his eyes off her.

She carefully examined the report before setting it down. "No problem for now."

He hesitated. "For now?"

Amelia nodded slightly. "You're currently experiencing symptoms like dizziness and nausea. If this goes on for too long, you could risk complications like brain edema or cerebral softening, which would make treatment even more challenging. So, what you have now is just temporary."

Scott stared at her intently. "Do I need to be hospitalized? And if so, will you be my attending physician?"

Amelia glanced at him and replied indifferently, "No need for hospitalization for now. Pay attention to your diet, avoid heavy drinking, and don't stay up late. I'll prescribe some medication for you."

Scott frowned slightly, "I probably can't avoid staying up late and drinking."

Amelia looked up at him, "It's okay if you can't. You can continue your current lifestyle. Prolonged low blood sugar can also affect liver and kidney function. Then, Mr. Sinclair, you'll have issues with your sexual function at a young age, sparing some girls from your harassment."

Scott's expression turned serious. Affecting liver and kidney function was absolutely unacceptable to him. "I won't take the medication. Just admit me to the hospital."

Amelia glanced at him and replied, "You can be admitted. Take your examination report to the endocrinology department. I'll pull some strings to get you in faster."

Scott's brows furrowed. "Not in your department?"

Amelia said, "No."

Scott took a deep breath, "Then I'll just take care of myself at home."

Amelia said no more and prescribed some medication, giving him a few simple instructions.

"After I get the medication, do I need to come back to see you?" Scott asked.

Amelia took a deep breath, "No need."

Scott let out an "Oh," and then flashed her a smile. "It's almost dinner time. How about I treat you to a meal?"

Amelia declined firmly, "I don't have the habit of dining with patients."

Scott fell silent. He wanted to argue that he and Amelia weren't in a doctor-patient relationship, but he didn't know how to describe their relationship.

He thought, 'Are we friends? It doesn't seem so. If we aren't even friends, what are we?'

A flicker of disappointment crossed Scott's eyes, but he felt a little better realizing it had been a while since they'd had a genuine conversation like this.

Meanwhile, Frederick saw Amelia's office door open and walked over, asking. "Still busy?"

He saw Scott sitting across from Amelia as he reached the door.

Scott looked up at Frederick, his eyes first landing on the dessert in Frederick's hand. His expression stiffened slightly, and then he looked up at Frederick and greeted him with a smile. "Frederick."

Ever since Scott had left the group chat, Frederick had been harboring doubts about Scott's motives in trying to set him up with Amber.

If Scott truly liked her, he would have seized the opportunity.

Yet here he was, playing matchmaker instead.

This was hardly normal behavior for someone who was genuinely smitten. Unless, of course, he didn't really care for Amber at all.

Frederick's eyes darkened as he looked at Scott. He asked in a low voice, "Not feeling well?"

Scott nodded, "Yeah, a bit of low blood sugar. Are you here to pick up Ms. Davis?"

Frederick nodded, walked into the office, placed the dessert on Amelia's desk, took the case files from her hand, and asked gently. "All done?"

Amelia nodded, picked up the dessert, and looked at the logo. She cocked an eyebrow, "How did you know I like desserts from this place?"

Frederick responded softly, "I asked Rachel."

Scott watched their harmonious and loving interaction, feeling a tightness in his chest.
