Chapter 303 Sebastian Wants to Support Women and Children
Addison was the first to catch on to what Rachel meant.
Frederick and Amelia had been married for three years and divorced for three years. Now, it seemed they hadn't remarried, and Frederick was chasing his ex-wife.
Addison and Michael had been secretly married for five years. She had recently lost their first child, and while she was having a miscarriage, Michael was at a fashion gala with his rumored girlfriend.
That was the last straw for Addison; she wanted a divorce, even if it meant losing resources.
With Frederick around, Amelia found her groove. After a short break, they started the next round. Rachel, on the other hand, was always good at golf, and the caddies cheered for her. She was generous with tips, and when Clara got hers, she felt emotional but forced a smile and thanked her. "Thank you, Ms. Davis. I wish you another great shot."
Rachel smiled but didn't respond, turning back to make a beautiful shot. Clara watched Rachel's confident demeanor and felt troubled. She remembered begging Sebastian to let her stay by his side, even as Rachel's stand-in, but he had said she could never be Rachel.
Clara realized Rachel wanted her to see the gap between them.
Amelia made a strong comeback in the second half. Michael, distracted, came in last, with Addison just slightly better. Alexis, like Amelia, wasn't great at golf, but she didn't get help like Amelia did.
With Frederick helping her with angles and swings, soon Amelia wasn't losing money. If she beat Arnold, she could even make a small profit. Hence, she gained confidence.
Looking at the side, Frederick, with his hands on her waist, felt like fireworks were going off in his heart. He wanted to kiss her but held back under Rachel's disapproving gaze, simply saying, "Amelia is amazing."
Frederick felt a bit inferior in front of Rachel, so her glance intimidated him. Rachel just glanced at him and continued swinging her club. Sebastian, having heard from Clara that Rachel was there, brought some friends over to play golf and see her.
When Sebastian saw Rachel, he stopped the golf cart, unable to look away from her graceful swing. Lately, Rachel had been avoiding him, even acting like she didn't know him at business events. This hurt his pride, so he decided to give her space, hoping they could talk once things cooled down.
After Rachel's impressive shot, Arnold clapped. "Great shot!" Rachel smiled slightly, noticing a golf cart nearby. Her eyes darkened, but she quickly refocused on the game.
Jackie recognized Sebastian and mentioned it. "Looks like Mr. Kingsley." Alexis nudged Jackie, reminding him of Rachel's public breakup with Sebastian. Jackie got the hint and stayed quiet.
Arnold, sensing the tension, asked Rachel softly, "Should we invite Mr. Kingsley to join us?" Rachel, playing with her club, replied disdainfully, "No. He's been spending a lot lately, dealing with family issues and supporting women and children. If I win his money again, I won't be able to live with my conscience."
The group pretended not to see Sebastian. Clara, overhearing Rachel, felt humiliated. She bit her lip and looked at Rachel. "Ms. Davis, don't get me wrong. Sebastian only helped me and my child out of pity. Since your fallout, he hasn't cared about us. I have no special relationship with him."
The caddies were surprised by Clara's revelation and moved away from her. Jackie and the others didn't know what to say, their expressions awkward. Rachel looked at Clara coldly. "Ms. Hill, are you admitting your connection to Sebastian so you can later claim we bullied you?"
Clara's face turned pale, tears welling up. "No, Ms. Davis, I didn't mean that. It's just that what you said was really insulting." Tears streamed down her face.
Rachel, unfazed, sneered, "If you have no special relationship with Sebastian, why are you crying when I insult him?" Clara tried to explain but stopped, biting her lip and letting the tears flow.
Rachel glanced coldly at Sebastian and mocked, "Why don't you cry in front of Sebastian? The men here are either taken or have someone in their hearts. No one will pity you. What a waste of tears."
