Chapter 254 The People Around Her Are All Of Little Use
The assistant sat quietly in the car the entire time, not daring to make a sound.
He hadn't been with Frederick as long as Felix had. He had no idea how to handle the current situation.
Frederick had probably never been so rejected by a woman in his entire life.
Seeing Frederick in such a chaotic state, the assistant was very worried that once Frederick got into the car, he might silence him for good.
Frederick stood at the entrance of the Davis Manor for a long time.
The assistant didn't know what to do, feeling extremely anxious, so he messaged Felix for help.
Felix was still in Tideport City handling follow-up matters and hadn't returned to Kasfee.
He used to think that being Frederick's assistant was a cushy job. However, in the past two days, he had realized how difficult it was to manage Frederick's affairs.
This assistant couldn't accurately gauge Frederick's emotional changes.
It was only after Amelia entered the house that Frederick turned around.
At the sight of this, the assistant quickly got out of the car and opened the back door.
As Frederick bent down to get into the car, the assistant noticed his slightly red eyes.
The assistant was taken aback.
'Has Ms. Davis rejected Mr. Hastings to the point of tears?' he pondered in shock.
But he didn't know what to do.
After Frederick got into the car, the assistant still stood outside, looking helpless and lacking Felix's psychological resilience.
"To the company." Frederick spoke coldly, his voice hoarse from trying to suppress his emotions.
The assistant nodded hastily, "Yes, Mr. Hastings."
He opened the driver's door, bent down to get in, and started the car toward Hastings Group.
On the way, Frederick remained silent.
The assistant didn't even dare to look up at the rearview mirror, fearing that if he saw Frederick secretly wiping his tears in the back seat, his own life might be in danger.
But he hesitated.
There didn't seem to be any tissues in the back seat today. 'Should I hand Mr. Hastings a tissue?' the assistant thought.
The assistant took a deep breath, feeling that he couldn't be so lacking in perception in front of Frederick. So he pulled out a tissue and handed it to the passenger in the back seat.
He didn't turn around. His eyes focused ahead, and his tone was sincere.
He comforted, "Mr. Hastings, the first time you encounter a setback, you'll have the courage to challenge it the second time. Matters of the heart can't be rushed."
Frederick looked at the tissue handed to him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
'Does he think I am crying?' Frederick thought.
His face darkened.
Frederick wasn't about to shed tears over a relationship.
He uttered, "Just drive."
Hearing Frederick's stiff tone, the assistant awkwardly withdrew his hand and said in a very low voice. "Mr. Hastings, rest assured. I won't breathe a word about what happened today."
Frederick nodded indifferently, turning his gaze to the window. For some reason, his nose felt a bit sour, and his eyes couldn't help but redden.
He forced down the feeling, closed his eyes, and leaned back in the seat to rest.
At Hastings Group.
The assistant parked the car at the entrance of the office building, got out, and opened the door.
Frederick slowly opened his slightly bloodshot eyes, making it look as if he had been crying.
The assistant took one look and quickly averted his gaze.
It seemed Mr. Hastings really liked Ms. Davis to be crying like this.
Frederick bent down to get out of the car and walked into the company.
With a cold expression, no one dared to meet his gaze, but some still noticed his slightly red eyes.
The receptionist at the door, seeing Frederick's cold expression, still mustered the courage to speak, "Mr. Hastings, Ms. Roberts has been waiting for you at the company for quite a while."
"Throw her out," Frederick's words came out quickly, tinged with a hint of anger.
The receptionist was stunned for several seconds. When she finally reacted, she didn't dare to breathe loudly and kept her head down.
Most of the employees at the company knew about Amber and Frederick's past relationship.
So, whenever Amber came to Hastings Group to see Frederick, almost no one stopped her.
Amber was always very proper, waiting in the company's reception hall each time she visited.
The reception hall of Hastings Group was often filled with job seekers looking for opportunities and small companies hoping to collaborate with Hastings Group.
They usually couldn't see Frederick, so they came to Hastings Group seeking a chance.
When the receptionist poured water for Amber earlier, Amber was very kind and friendly to her. Thus, the receptionist mentioned it when she saw Frederick.
The receptionist hadn't expected that she had said the wrong thing.
Frederick, with a cold expression, walked towards the executive elevator.
Amber saw Frederick from the reception hall and got up to walk out.
However, before she could approach Frederick, security personnel escorted her out of the office building.
Amber, thrown out of the office building, looked disheveled and anxious.
In the past, no matter what, she could always exchange a few words with Frederick.
But this time, Frederick had ordered the security personnel to throw her out.
Over the past three years, the humiliation she had suffered in front of Frederick had grown more frequent and severe.
Amber bit her lip hard, her eyes reddening.
Inside the office building, the receptionist at the door turned pale as she saw Amber being thrown out.
The receptionist kept her head down, not daring to make a sound. She wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible. Soon, their manager came over, expressionless, and said, "Go to the HR department and process your resignation."
The receptionist's body stiffened, and her eyes reddened with grievance.
She hadn't expected that a casual remark would cost her job.
After dealing with the receptionist, the manager walked to the front desk and sternly instructed. "From now on, anything or anyone related to Amber is not allowed into Hastings Group. Anyone who dares to violate this will pack up and leave."
The front desk staff all nodded except for one staff member in the far corner, Laura Collins, who didn't nod. She was a fan of Amber.
Laura loved Amber's video content. Since Amber had helped her find a job, Laura had become a die-hard fan.
Laura had even seen photos of Frederick and Amber when they were still dating, so she firmly believed that there were still feelings between them.
Frederick was treating Amber this way now because he resented her for breaking up with him and going abroad.
Because he loved Amber so much, he also hated her. Many relationships were like this.
One day, Frederick would surely regret it and take Amber back.
After the manager left, Laura sent a message to Amber, comforting her.
Amber quickly replied to her private message.
Amber: [Frederick has some misunderstandings about me right now. Focus on your work, and don't let my situation affect you. I would feel terribly guilty if it did.]
Seeing that Amber was still worried about implicating her, Laura felt even more that she hadn't chosen the wrong person to admire.
Laura: [Amber, don't worry. I will never expose myself. I will work even harder to keep those women with bad intentions towards Mr. Hastings out of the office building!]
Amber didn't reply to this message.
A mere receptionist couldn't help her much except to inform her of Frederick's comings and goings.
Amber felt very frustrated now. It seemed that the people around her were of little use.
