Chapter 446 Someone Saw What You Did
Amelia shoved the security guard aside and stormed into the house. The guard quickly caught up and grabbed her arm.
With a fierce look in her eyes, Amelia glared at him and said, "If something bad happens in there, is your measly thousand-dollar paycheck worth it?"
The guard's face went pale, and he let go of her.
Amelia swiftly walked into the house and saw Cynthia lying on the floor, while Catherine stood beside her, covering her mouth in shock, her face a picture of panic, clearly caught off guard.
"Amelia..." Cynthia called out weakly, lying there with blood on her.
Amelia hurried over to check on Cynthia. "Mrs. Kingsley, don't freak out. Just do what I say."
She helped Cynthia adjust her breathing, then shot a look at Catherine, who was pale and shaking.
"Call 911," Amelia ordered.
Catherine, totally panicked, saw the blood and fumbled with her phone, her hands trembling.
After dialing 911, Catherine stumbled over to Amelia, babbling, "It wasn't me. She came at me, trying to grab me. I just pushed her away, and she fell. I didn't want her to hurt me."
Catherine incessantly repeated the same words in front of Amelia, causing Amelia to furrow her brows in frustration.
Catherine said, "I've got surveillance. You can see I was just going upstairs, and she rushed at me. I was defending myself..."
The ambulance showed up fast.
As they loaded Cynthia into the ambulance, she grabbed Catherine's hand, looking serious.
Weakly, Cynthia said, "Tell me what happened the day Dylan died, and I won't press charges. Otherwise, you'll never be Mrs. Kingsley."
Catherine looked torn, her emotions all over her face.
Amelia was about to get in the ambulance, but Cynthia shook her head. "You stay here. Don't let my injury be for nothing."
Amelia frowned, clearly worried.
The paramedics, who knew Amelia from work, said, "Dr. Davis, you stay. We'll take Cynthia to the hospital and call you if there's any issue."
Amelia nodded.
In her panic, Catherine had already called Harold and informed him of the situation. Whatever he said calmed her down. After hanging up, she sat on the sofa and glared at Amelia. "You can go. I'm not saying anything."
Amelia looked at Catherine, who was calm now, with a cold glint in her eyes. "I don't need you to say anything."
Catherine's face tightened, confused. "Then why aren't you leaving?"
Amelia checked the time and said calmly, "I've already reported it. You can explain everything at the police station later."
Catherine froze, her face showing a mix of anger and shame. "I already told you, Cynthia came at me out of nowhere, trying to hit me. I was just defending myself, so..."
"Save it for the cops," Amelia cut her off coldly.
Catherine's face went pale. Not knowing what Amelia was planning made her super anxious. She frowned, feeling really nervous.
Amelia walked over to the big window, looking outside. "That video of Dylan? It was just circulating in a small circle at first. But someone pushed it out there, making sure everyone knew Dylan was part of the Kingsley family."
She snapped, "Catherine, if you want to keep secrets, don't do shady stuff. Think you can hide behind Harold forever?"
Catherine's eyes showed a flicker of panic, but she stubbornly said, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Amelia smirked coldly. "Dylan's boyfriend came to Kasfee, didn't you know? Even though he married someone else, he still cared about Dylan. Now that Dylan's dead, he wants answers. Everyone who hurt Dylan is gonna pay. Frederick hit Dylan, so he's under investigation. What do you think will happen to you?"
As Amelia spoke, she glanced upstairs.
On the second-floor stairs, a boy around ten stood, frowning at Amelia with a cautious look.
Catherine's face tightened at Amelia's words. She followed Amelia's gaze and quickly snapped, "Go back to your room!"
The boy turned and ran back to his room at Catherine's angry command.
Amelia's lips curled slightly as she looked at Catherine. "You know people with power can easily get rid of you, right? I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to you."
Catherine bit her lip hard and looked up at Amelia, quickly saying, "I wasn't at the company the day Mr. Dylan Kingsley died. I don't know anything. This has nothing to do with me or my child."
She got up from the sofa, walked over to Amelia, and grabbed her hand, pleading, "Dr. Davis, you have a child too. For the sake of us both being mothers, please tell Mr. Angoulême I had nothing to do with this. My child and I are innocent..."
Amelia shook off Catherine's hand and said coldly, "Innocent? What proof do you have? You were all part of what happened to Dylan. Ken won't let you off the hook. You, your kid, Harold, and the Kingsley Group."
Catherine's face went even paler. She kept her head down, not willing to reveal any evidence.
Amelia looked at her coldly. "You have plotted for years, and ultimately, you shall achieve nothing. The things you so desperately wish to protect will slip through your fingers. You cannot prove your innocence, but I can demonstrate your involvement. There was even a witness to your deeds that day."
