Chapter 392 Charles Said He Is a Normal Man
Rachel put down the first aid kit and turned to look at Charles, who was sitting on the couch, and said, "Mr. Wright, please wait a moment. I'll change into more appropriate clothes for the hike, and then we can leave."
Charles was adjusting his cufflinks. He smiled and nodded. "Alright."
Rachel turned and entered the dressing room. The lingering effect of Charles' meaningful smile left a trace of unease in her heart. His gaze was too aggressive, as if she were prey caught in a predator's sight. She took a deep breath, determined to keep her guard up.
She changed into a simple tracksuit and walked out of the dressing room.
Hearing her footsteps, Charles looked up, his eyes following her every move.
Rachel rarely wore casual clothes. The tracksuit made her look softer and less flashy than usual. Her cool gaze swept over Charles, and she smiled politely. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Wright. Let's go."
Charles stood up from the couch with a smile, his eyes never leaving Rachel. He was not stingy with his praise. "As expected, Ms. Davis, you look beautiful in anything. Those high-end brands should be clamoring to have you as their spokesperson."
Even a simple tracksuit looked stunning on Rachel. One could only imagine how breath-taking she would look in luxurious, exquisite gowns.
Rachel listened to Charles's compliments without a hint of shyness, responding graciously with a smile. "I can't take all the credit. The artists should take the credit for their work."
She smiled lightly and walked to the entrance to change her shoes. Charles stood beside her, watching as she did so. From his perspective, her waist looked particularly slender, making him want to reach out and hold it.
The memory of the previous night haunted him. He had felt the softness of her waist and it had left an indelible mark on his mind.
He had hoped that after last night, his relationship with Rachel would become more intimate. However, Rachel had only become more guarded against him.
Letting her go last night now felt like a mistake. He shouldn't have left to sleep in the guest room to stop himself from going any further with her. He should have stayed, shared her bed, and been there when she woke up. That might have had a greater impact on her.
As these thoughts circled his mind, his gaze on Rachel became even more possessive.
After changing her shoes, Rachel glanced at Charles. At that moment, Charles took a step forward, getting closer to her.
Previously, when Rachel wore high heels, she didn't feel that Charles was much taller than her, and she never felt any sense of oppression.
Now, standing beside Charles in comfortable sneakers, she realized she was much shorter than him. Rachel's heart started to race.
She looked at Charles, who had suddenly approached her, with some confusion. As she was about to take a step back, Charles grabbed her waist, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her.
The cool touch of his lips made Rachel's heart race even faster. She was momentarily dazed, then quickly pushed Charles away with all her strength. Despite her efforts, Charles stood firm, not budging an inch.
Because she pushed him away, he didn't continue with any further inappropriate actions and ended the kiss.
Rachel looked at Charles, who appeared calm and unflustered, and frowned. Her face was flushed, and she stared at him with a mix of anger and embarrassment. "Mr. Wright, you..."
Charles thought that if it weren't for his status, she might already have slapped him. He knew that his behavior was out of line, but he couldn't resist.
"Sorry, Ms. Davis, I couldn't help myself," Charles explained with sincerity, admitting his mistake but showing no real sense of remorse.
Rachel was silent. She didn't know what to say for a moment. She took a deep breath and looked at Charles sternly. "Mr. Wright, I don't want this to happen again. I want our relationship to remain professional. Please behave yourself," she clarified.
After Rachel finished speaking, she firmly removed Charles' hand from her waist.
No longer feeling her warmth at his touch, Charles was momentarily lost. A hint of sadness flashed in his eyes, but he quickly smiled again. "Ms. Davis, are you angry?"
"Yes," Rachel replied firmly.
Charles said nothing for a few seconds, then spoke seriously. "After what happened last night, I have to admit, it stirred up some inappropriate thoughts in me. Just now, I suddenly remembered how you kissed me last night and how I avoided it. To be honest, I regret it a bit now, and I can't help but want to take our relationship further."
Rachel hesitated.
Charles continued, "My behavior just now was indeed inappropriate. However, if you feel inclined, you can if you're willing, you can force yourself on me like you did last night. I wouldn't mind."
Rachel felt conflicted. Clearly, she was in the right, but Charles' words made her feel like she was in the wrong. Last night, she had indeed initiated things with Charles.
Charles's candid admission that she had stirred up some inappropriate thoughts in him made things more complicated for Rachel. She said in a low voice, "Mr. Wright, what happened last night was unintentional. I was not in my right mind when I tried to force myself on you."
Charles nodded and replied softly, "But I was fully in control of my senses, Ms. Davis. I'm a normal man, I'm not impotent."
Rachel blushed at the memory of her asking Charles about that last night, while she was still in control of herself.
No matter how she flirted with him, Charles remained unmoved. Her body felt like it was being crawled over by a thousand ants, making her extremely uncomfortable and agitated enough to ask Charles that question with a hint of provocation.
She hadn't expected her words from last night to be brought up today. She restrained herself from biting her lip and avoided Charles' gaze.
Rachel was both embarrassed and angry, but she couldn't find a reasonable response to what Charles had said.
After all, she had been the one to come on to him under the influence of the aphrodisiac last night.
