Chapter 67 He Seemed to Care Too Much

Brittany discussed pregnancy with Amelia once again. Every now and then, her eyes revealed a mix of reluctance and worry about Amelia’s upcoming trip to Fondaniss.

Vincent, noticing Brittany's genuine fondness for Amelia, whispered, "Please don't worry."

"I will accompany Amelia to Fondaniss, and our Davis family has good relations with the noble families there. We can take care of each other."

Hearing this, Brittany relaxed slightly.

"Frederick's fault. He doesn't know what's good for him and will regret it eventually."

Amelia smiled lightly, "Grandmother, everyone has their own choices. Perhaps we really weren't meant to be. In these three years, he hasn't developed any feelings for me and hasn't kept me in his heart. So it's for the best that this marriage ends."

"As for regrets, I can't say for him."

Amelia pursed her lips and continued, "I have no regrets, and he probably doesn't either."

Her voice was soft, her eyes calm. Although she felt somewhat uncomfortable, she would gradually let go.

After leaving the hospital, Frederick went to the company before heading straight back to the Hastings family mansion. However, the security personnel informed him that Brittany had gone to the Davis family.

Outside the Davis family's door, Frederick parked his car by the roadside and saw Tom getting out of the car.

"Sir," Tom exclaimed in surprise upon seeing him.

Frederick nodded and glanced at the shawl in Tom's hands.

Seeing Frederick's gaze on his hands, Tom explained, "The weather has turned a bit chilly, so I came out to bring a shawl for Madam."

Frederick nodded slightly and reached out his hand, "Give it to me."

Just as Tom was about to speak, Frederick continued, "You can go back to the mansion first."

Tom paused for a moment, immediately understanding, and respectfully nodded, "Alright."

Frederick entered the Davis family with his usual expression. The security personnel at the door saw him but didn't stop him.

"Our family, we haven't had a baby born in many years. I've been looking forward to it." Brittany's words were cut off when she saw Frederick walking in from outside.

He hesitated for a moment in his steps, looking at Amelia, his heart in turmoil. He clenched the shawl in his hand almost immediately.

"Are you pregnant?"

He asked, and everyone's expressions became strange.

Amelia’s heart also skipped a beat, and she denied it immediately. "No."

"It's Madison's granddaughter who is pregnant. She came to our hospital for a check-up half a month ago."

"Do you want me to get pregnant?"

Hearing her calm and composed reply, Frederick felt an inexplicable annoyance and disappointment rise within him.

He composed himself, and his eyes darkened slightly.

Seeing that he didn't suspect further, Amelia secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Vincent looked at him and said softly, "Frederick, please have a seat."

Although Amelia and Frederick were divorced, he was still the father of the child, and with Brittany present, the two families would still have interactions.

Frederick nodded gently.

Seeing him, Brittany furrowed her brows and sternly asked, "Why did you come?"

Frederick remained calm and replied calmly, "Tom had something to attend to and asked me to come pick you up."

As he spoke, he opened the shawl in his hand and draped it over Brittany.

Brittany snorted and glanced at Frederick but didn't expose him.

Tom was a responsible person. He would only leave the Hastings family if there was an urgent matter, but he would definitely inform her beforehand. He wouldn't just leave without saying a word like he did now.

Most likely, Frederick came but didn't have a valid excuse to enter the Davis family, so he came up with this poor excuse.

"I'll have dinner and then go back. If you have other things to attend to, go handle them first before coming to pick me up."

"The company matters have been taken care of," he replied in a low voice, taking a seat on the sofa on the other side, directly facing Amelia.

"Having been on a business trip for a few days, I missed Spaghetti."

His gaze didn't linger too long on Amelia, but instead, he turned to Vincent.

Upon hearing this, Vincent paused briefly before saying, "Then I'll make it for you."

Brittany frowned and glanced disapprovingly at Frederick before saying to Vincent. "Don't treat this ungrateful person so well."

Vincent awkwardly smiled in response, "Although Frederick is no longer my son-in-law, we were still family once."

"You have always treated Amelia as your own granddaughter, from now on, I will consider Frederick as Amelia’ss brother."

Frederick clenched his jaw and remained silent. He raised his eyes and looked at Amelia.

Amelia had a slight smile on her face as she pulled Brittany's shawl and looked at her tenderly.

Clearly, she had no objections to Vincent's words.

That feeling of uneasiness came back again.

Amelia smiled lightly and took a sip of her water while speaking to the old lady.

When she put down her water glass, she noticed Frederick's eyes on her, filled with a hint of grievance.

Amelia smiled lightly, "Brother, do you want some water? Let me pour it for you."

Frederick's face immediately darkened, full of gloom. "No, I don't want any!"

He answered coldly as if the words were squeezed out from between his teeth.

Brittany glanced coldly at him and snorted, "Amelia, don't bother with him."

Amelia nodded her head.

Frederick sat on the sofa with a cold face, tugging at his tie in irritation, sinking into the sofa.
His icy eyes remained fixed on Amelia.

She felt a bit uncomfortable, so she stood up and smiled, "Grandma, brother, please sit for a while. I'll go help my dad."

Frederick's face turned even colder.
Hearing her calling him "brother" over and over again only made Frederick more agitated.

Brittany watched Amelia’ss figure walking toward the kitTom, cast a heavy glance at Frederick, and had a displeased expression on her face.

"You're such a nuisance!"

Susan had already prepared dinner, and it wasn't difficult to make Spaghetti, which was done in a few minutes.

Vincent took off his apron and hung it on the side. When Amelia walked over, he whispered, "Amelia, if Frederick shows weakness and promises not to have any contact with that woman again, let's just drop this matter."

"You have a child now, and it will be difficult to raise the child alone, and..."

Amelia looked at her father's worried face and pursed her lips. "Dad, I'm not afraid of hardships."

"If he can just do this, then I'll forgive him, but the hard days are still ahead for me."

Vincent sighed deeply, filled with heartache.

Amelia forced a smile and spoke cheerfully, "Dad, I'll be fine."

"Just like you said, having another brother is also nice."

After Amelia finished speaking, she turned and walked out of the kitTom. She looked at Frederick and Brittany sitting on the sofa, her smile radiant and her eyes sparkling.

"Grandma, brother, it's time to eat."

Frederick stared at her, smiling for a long time, feeling that it was too dazzling, and his narrow eyes became downcast.

It was just a form of address. He seemed to care too much.
