Chapter 341 She Still Wants to Be With Jesse

Amelia locked eyes with Amber, her face unreadable. "You won't know who's hurting themselves unless you go find him," she said coolly.

Amber paused, searching Amelia's face for any sign of the old Amelia—the one who'd always been insecure around Frederick, showing a flicker of vulnerability at the mention of his name.

But this time, Amelia's eyes were calm, like a tranquil lake. No flicker, no ripple—like she truly believed that finding Frederick wouldn't shake her world.

Amber, taken aback by Amelia's newfound composure, felt a surge of unexpected fear. She took a deep breath, feeling a lump in her throat. As Amber thought about Frederick's attitude toward both of them lately, her own insecurities began to surface.

Amber finally spoke, her voice tight. "Dr. Davis, why are you doing this? I've made it clear. Frederick is nostalgic. If I beg him, he'll definitely agree."

Amelia glanced at Amber, still indifferent. "If you're so sure he'll agree, why are you pestering me? Ms. Roberts, are you feeling insecure?"

Amber frowned, took a deep breath, and forced a smile. "Maybe I'm overthinking it. I feel like Frederick wants to be with you now, so I don't want to bother him. I should've done nothing, like three years ago, and let Frederick handle everything."

With that, Amber got up and glanced at Amelia.

Amelia's phone had been ringing non-stop. She'd forgotten to silence it. When she picked it up, she saw messages from Frederick.

It rang several times. She opened the chat and saw Frederick had sent a photo of him and Anna.

Frederick had really brought Anna to the Hastings Group.

In the photo, Frederick wore a black suit, and Anna wore a black and white checkered dress.

Anna was in Frederick's arms, and the casual shot looked like a parent-child photo.

Below was a message from Frederick.

Frederick: [Which one looks best? I'll choose one for an album.]

Amelia didn't plan to reply and was about to put down her phone when Frederick sent another message.

Frederick: [I think they all look good, so I'll just make them all.]

Seeing this, Amelia replied with one word.

Amelia: [Okay.]

After sending it, she put down her phone and looked at Amber, her eyes indifferent. "Ms. Roberts, if you lie for too long, you'll eventually fool yourself. It's time to face the reality," she said, a hint of mockery in her voice.

Amber looked at Amelia in shock, panic in her eyes. "What are you talking about? What lie?"

Amelia looked away, flipping through documents. "Ms. Roberts, haven't you lied enough in front of me? Without a solid result, don't come to me and act like a clown. It's annoying."

Amber's face turned pale, and her fingers clenched tightly as she walked out of Amelia's office.

As she left, she ran into Nicole coming in.

Nicole saw Amber in a hospital gown and frowned. "What are you doing here?" she asked coldly.

Amber ignored Nicole and hurried off. She had to find Frederick, even if it meant begging on her knees.

Nicole watched Amber rush away, then turned and entered Amelia's office.

She snorted. "Why is Amber in the hospital again? She's always in and out, but nothing ever happens to her."

Amelia replied calmly, "Old illness relapsed, and she has tumors in other parts. She wants me to operate on her."

Nicole's eyes widened. "Is she going to beg Mr. Hastings?"

Amelia nodded. "Yeah."

Nicole took a deep breath. "She really knows how to play the game! Aren't you going to stop her?"

Frederick and Amelia's relationship had just started to improve. With Amber pulling this stunt, it was uncertain how Frederick would react. If he softened, then Amelia...

Nicole looked at Amelia with sympathy.

But Amelia seemed unbothered. "Frederick's been pestering me for a chance. This is the chance I'm giving him." She changed the subject. "By the way, are you alright?"

Nicole shook her head. "I'm fine."

She placed a gift box on Amelia's desk, looking guilty. "Amelia, I'm really sorry. I was naive, thinking you and Ruth just had a little misunderstanding. Yesterday, I even asked you to toast with Ruth for my sake. Now I feel like I deserve to die." Nicole slapped herself.

In the morning, Todd had blamed her, and her aunt almost hit her when she heard about it. Her parents even ordered her to stay away from those people. Nicole was upset but also worried Frederick might target Jesse because of Amelia. After all, Jesse still worked under Scott. Scott and Frederick were good friends, and with one word from Frederick, Scott would kick Jesse out of his circle.

Amelia grabbed Nicole's hand, seeing the red mark on her face. "Are you crazy? This has nothing to do with you."

Nicole bit her lip. "It does. I picked the wrong friends. No, Jesse picked the wrong friends."

Amelia's heart sank. She had a bad feeling about this.

Nicole continued, "Jesse is also a victim. He didn't do anything wrong. Amelia, you know he was a victim in that incident back in high school, right?"

Amelia fell silent. She realized Nicole didn't want to break up with Jesse.

Amelia took a deep breath, struggling to find the right words. "Nicole, it's not too late to break up with Jesse now," she said softly. "It's not too late to change your mind."

Nicole sat across from Amelia, her gaze unwavering. "No one knows what the road ahead will be like," she said, her voice firm despite a tremor. "When you married Frederick, didn't you also not know what kind of outcome you would have?"

"So..." She paused, then insisted, "I still want to be with Jesse."
