Chapter 198 Amelia's Eyes Had Already Taken on a Hint of Coldness
Noah Watson: [Is that Ms. Davis?]
Yves Jensen: [Seems like it.]
Noah immediately deleted the message.
Yves followed suit and deleted his message as well.
They didn't dare not say anything.
They all knew that Frederick was now very concerned about his ex-wife.
Sebastian and Frederick had grown up together, so naturally, he was not afraid of him.
When Sebastian saw the video, he immediately brought his phone to Rachel, who was still in the office. "I didn't expect Amelia to be quite the player!"
Rachel glanced sideways at the video playing on his phone, then lifted Sebastian's coat corner.
She said, "If you don't start working out, I might have to find someone like that dancer, too."
Sebastian had been immersed in Rachel's tenderness, so he had slacked off on exercising.
He looked down at his still visible muscles, feeling aggrieved as he put away his phone and headed to the adjacent gym for an angry one-hour workout.
In the meantime, he didn't forget to tag Frederick in the group chat and sent a picture of himself working out.
Sebastian also sent a message: [Let's compete.]
Frederick had just settled business with Mark. He watched as Mark was taken away in a police car. His phone kept vibrating, so he took a quick look at it.
He saw Sebastian's message, scrolled up to the previous messages, and watched the video Scott had posted. He gripped his phone angrily.
Amber had gone through a rough time. She was being supported by someone standing beside her.
Her legs felt weak. The situation was critical. Mark had almost convinced her to jump from the building.
Frederick had remained calm throughout the negotiation with Mark. His eyes showed no hint of concern.
As Mark was taken away, he didn't come over to comfort her. Amber felt a bit aggrieved and walked up to Frederick.
Amber said, "Frederick, I'm so scared. Can you accompany me to the hospital?"
Mark had held a knife to her neck earlier, the sharp tip cutting her skin. The bleeding had stopped, but she was still quite frightened.
Frederick's attention was completely absorbed by his phone. He had applied a privacy screen protector so Amber couldn't see what was on it. She stood nervously to the side and weakly said, "Frederick."
Frederick took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling heavily. He put away his phone coldly and walked toward the car as if he hadn't noticed Amber's presence.
Amber's face stiffened, and she staggered, grabbing his arm. "Frederick, I've been injured."
Frederick opened the car door, his gaze cold.
Paul had already sorted things out with the investigators and was walking toward Frederick. With a cold expression, Frederick removed Amber's hand from his sleeve and said to Paul, "Take her to the hospital."
Paul immediately nodded. "Got it, Mr. Hastings."
Amber stubbornly tugged at Frederick's coat and said, "Frederick, come with me..."
Frederick lowered his gaze, looking coldly at his coat.
Amber's grip tightened, causing her fingertips to turn slightly pale due to the force. Her hand dropped as she sensed Frederick's impatience.
Without a moment's hesitation, Frederick got into the car, closed the door, and drove away.
Amber stood frozen in place, watching Frederick's car drive away from her sight. She bit her lip tightly, feeling somewhat lost.
Paul stood in front of her and gestured for her to leave, saying, "Ms. Roberts, I'll take you to the hospital."
Amber bit her lip tightly, following behind Paul.
She thought Paul would drive her to the hospital, but to her surprise, Paul guided her toward the ambulance.
The medical staff in the ambulance immediately examined Amber's injuries. Amber's expression carried a hint of dissatisfaction.
She angrily said, "Frederick asked you to take me to the hospital."
Paul nodded. "The ambulance will head to the hospital, and I'll drive behind it. You don't need to worry, Ms. Roberts."
Amber frowned, realizing Paul's intentions, and coldly said, "You don't want me to get in the car. That's Mr. Hastings' car, not yours. You're just an employee."
Amber's words did not affect Paul. He remained firm, saying, "Since it's Mr. Hastings' car, I can't decide to let you get in on my own. That car is Mr. Hastings' vehicle. He said that besides Ms. Davis, no one else is allowed inside."
Amber's face suddenly stiffened. Paul stood calmly to the side.
Frederick had never said that, but it was true. Only Frederick and Amelia had sat in the back seat of that car.
Earlier, Paul had learned from the investigators that Amber had been very close to Mark and had used her identity as Frederick's first love to extract some insider information from Mark for investment purposes.
After Frederick had fired Mark, he had sought out Amber, believing that the information he had shared with her had also made her money.
Thus, now that he was in trouble, he expected Amber to help him. However, Amber was nowhere to be found.
Before deciding to kidnap Amber, Mark had actually considered kidnapping Amelia. After all, Amelia was Frederick's ex-wife.
But during this time, there had been no contact between Frederick and Amelia. Moreover, Rachel was not someone to be trifled with.
Amber had always intentionally or unintentionally revealed to him how close she was to Frederick.
So Mark had decided to take a risk and kidnap Amber, threatening Frederick so he would destroy the incriminating evidence in his possession.
However, his decision had only angered Frederick. To prevent any future trouble, Frederick had submitted all the evidence.
With all the charges added together, Mark might be so old when he came out of prison that he wouldn’t even be able to walk properly.
At the bar, everyone's emotions were heightened under the influence of alcohol and music.
Todd was good at livening up the atmosphere.
He took the initiative to go to the DJ booth, and since he was there, the atmosphere at the venue reached new highs.
Nicole sat next to Amelia, guarding her, while playing games with a young man beside her. She had a good tolerance for alcohol, and despite having had quite a few drinks, showed no signs of being drunk.
To prevent Amelia from being harassed by other men, Nicole drove away many men who wanted to play games with her.
After finishing his work, Jesse saw Amelia leaning on the sofa. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were already showing a hint of confusion. He walked over, brought Amelia a glass of water, and placed it on the table.
Feeling drowsy, Amelia leaned toward Nicole.
Jesse was about to help her when someone suddenly grabbed his hand. He paused, glanced sideways, and saw Frederick standing next to him with a cold, expressionless face.
Scott was a major shareholder of the bar, and he would occasionally invite Frederick and Sebastian over, so Jesse had seen Frederick a few times.
"Mr. Hastings, you're here tonight, too," Jesse said, with a pleasing smile.
However, Frederick didn't even look at him. He walked up to Amelia, bent down, and lifted Amelia, who was slightly intoxicated.
Amelia's drunkenness dissipated slightly as she felt herself being suddenly lifted, and she immediately struggled. "Put me down."
