Chapter 483 Anna Doesn't Want Daddy Anymore

After Amelia hung up, she noticed a bunch of unread messages from Frederick.

Frederick must've gotten all worked up when she didn't reply, which was probably why he suggested meeting at Hastings Manor.

Seeing Frederick's messages, Amelia thought, 'Vincent must have been really angry back then to hit him. Frederick, always concerned about his appearance, must be quite annoyed with his swollen face.'

So, she quickly shot him a message.

Amelia: [Put some ice on it.]

Frederick replied almost immediately: [I did, but it still hurts. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Can you help me out tomorrow?]

Amelia: [Sure.]

Frederick kept sending messages, but Amelia's attention shifted when she heard a car outside Davis Manor.

She stepped onto the balcony and saw a silver sedan parked at the entrance, too far to see the license plate.

But soon, the driver's door opened, and she recognized Sebastian stepping out. Amelia frowned, her mind racing.

Just then, Rachel called. Amelia picked up right away, hearing her sister's calm voice. "Let Sebastian in."

"Why?" Amelia asked, confused. She still remembered all the crap Sebastian had pulled.

"Just do it," Rachel said firmly. "Act normal."

Amelia took a deep breath, trusting her sister had a plan. "Got it. I'm heading downstairs."

Rachel replied before hanging up, "Okay, I'll be home in about half an hour."

Amelia thought, 'So I have to pretend to dislike Sebastian later.'

She took a deep breath, rubbed her temples, composed herself, and headed downstairs.

Seeing the security guys already in the living room, she heard one of them speak up, "Ms. Amelia Davis, Mr. Kingsley is here again."

"What does he want?" Amelia snapped, clearly annoyed. "Just kick him out like before!"

The guard looked uneasy and said, "He says he's here to discuss some project issues with Ms. Rachel Davis."

Amelia's frown deepened. Vincent, overhearing, stepped into the room, his face showing the strain of the ongoing crisis at the Davis Group. After a moment, he spoke, "Let him in."

Amelia looked at Vincent, confused and frustrated. "Dad, why let him in? Have you forgotten how he treated Rachel?"

Vincent sighed. "Rachel's a businesswoman, and sometimes business comes before feelings. If he's here, he's probably already talked to Rachel. If he can help Rachel, we should put the emotional stuff aside for now."

Seeing Vincent's words, Amelia bit her lip.

A somber realization hit her, thinking about all the sacrifices Rachel had made to protect her from these harsh realities.

Her eyes reddened a bit, feeling the weight of Rachel's choices.

Vincent noticed her distress and sighed again. "Amelia, you should respect Rachel's decision."

Taking a deep breath, Amelia nodded. "I get it." She settled on the sofa, trying to steady her emotions.

Led by security, Sebastian walked into the living room, carrying a gift box and looking pretty nervous. He handed the box to a servant, who accepted it after glancing at Vincent for approval.

Sebastian approached Vincent, respectful and deferential. "Mr. Davis, long time no see. How have you been?"

Vincent nodded slightly, his eyes void of warmth but not hostile either. "Fine. Have a seat," he replied politely.

Sebastian sat down opposite Vincent. Amelia shot him a cold look before turning away.

Just then, Anna came downstairs. Seeing Sebastian, her face lit up with a bit of surprise.

"Uncle Sebastian?" Her voice was clear, and maybe because she hadn't seen him in a while, there was a bit of uncertainty in her tone.

The only person in the Davis family who still welcomed Sebastian was probably Anna.

Sebastian's tense expression relaxed into a smile when he saw Anna. "Anna."

As Anna approached, Sebastian reached out to her. But Anna veered off and went to Amelia's side, smiling at Sebastian. "Aunt Rachel isn't home. She's been super busy lately."

Sebastian's outstretched hand faltered, reflecting the subtle distance Anna maintained.

He retracted his hand awkwardly and responded gently, "I'm just here to wait for her."

Anna, ever curious, leaned toward Sebastian. She asked softly, "Uncle Sebastian, are you friends with my dad?"

Sebastian nodded. "Yes, we're very good friends."

Anna tilted her head and whispered, "Is my dad very busy lately? What's he busy with?"

Sebastian smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to answer Anna's question.

It was clear that everyone had kept Anna updated on recent events. Maybe in a child's world, they couldn't grasp the complexities of adult relationships.

He forced a smile, raising his hand to gently rub Anna's head. "He's been very busy with work and life. When he's done, he'll come back to see you."

However, Anna pushed Sebastian's hand away, her face changing instantly, and she said angrily, "Uncle Sebastian, tell my dad that if he doesn't want to come back, then don't. I don't want him anymore."
