Chapter 82 They Had Already Gotten Divorced, Not Caring About the Status of Their Relationship
Susan had already taken care of Amelia's ankle injury for her.
Amelia glanced at her ankle, withdrew her foot, and stood up to walk upstairs. Seeing this, Susan immediately helped her up the stairs delicately.
Amelia was still on the phone with Rachel.
Frederick stared at her figure, watching her disappear around the corner of the hallway. Amelia didn't even glance back at him, let alone give him a look.
Frederick felt somewhat frustrated.
After taking his medicine, Vincent walked over and sat down on the couch. The two of them chatted for a while before Frederick left Davis Manor.
Because Ascending Company's anniversary celebration was coming up, Rachel returned to Kasfee the day after attending Megan's wedding.
She only stayed there for four days in total, but most of her time was spent on the plane.
After all, the distance between Kasfee and Fondaniss was far, and a one-way flight took fifteen hours.
In the time that Rachel had been away, Amelia's ankle had improved a lot, and she was able to walk normally now.
Rachel got off the plane and came directly to Davis Manor, where she found Frederick in the living room. Raising an eyebrow, she walked over.
She brought Amelia many gifts. Amelia sat on the couch and opened the gift box, an excited smile appearing on her face.
Frederick looked at her smile and felt somewhat sad. He had never personally chosen a gift for Amelia in all these years.
In the past three years, on their anniversary, Felix had mostly helped choose the gifts and then directly gave them to Amelia.
Rachel sat on the couch, a rare sense of fatigue visible on her face. She glanced at Amelia's foot, which no longer showed any signs of swelling, and asked softly, "Are you planning to attend Ascending Company's anniversary celebration?"
Amelia nodded lightly.
This incident with the Davis Group made Amelia realize the importance of connections in this circle.
For years, she had been well-protected by the Davis family, but now that the Davis Group was facing difficulties, she couldn't help, and she felt guilty. She felt that as a member of the Davis family, she could no longer let Rachel bear all the responsibilities alone.
Rachel nodded and then looked at Frederick. "Mr. Hastings, will you also be attending?"
"Of course," Frederick replied naturally.
Rachel smiled faintly.
On the anniversary celebration of Ascending Company, Rachel arrived with Vincent and Amelia. Frederick came to the scene to present awards to the outstanding employees of Ascending Company.
Amelia sat next to Vincent, watching the dazzling Frederick on stage, her feelings conflicted. She had liked him for so many years, how could she easily let go?
She sighed inwardly and deliberately avoided his gaze, looking elsewhere.
Since Ascending Company was jointly founded by the Davis Group and the Hastings Group, many business partners of both groups attended the anniversary celebration of Ascending Company.
In addition, some prestigious families who wanted to curry favor with Frederick would not miss this opportunity.
After the employee recognition assembly, Rachel took the stage to introduce Ascending Company's future plans and development direction. After the speech, everyone went to the banquet venue.
Rachel's secretary, Tina, always followed by her side.
Vincent introduced Amelia to some clients who had previously worked with the Davis Group.
Amelia rarely attended such occasions, so many people did not know her. When they learned that Amelia was also a daughter of the Davis family, they all had the idea of marrying her.
Although the status of the Davis Group was not as prominent as before, it still held a lot of prestige in Kasfee. Coupled with Frederick's support for the Davis family, their prestige was all but guaranteed.
The rumors on the Internet during this period made everyone think that there must be some kind of relationship between Rachel and Frederick. After all, the Davis Group had long been defeated by the Hastings Group led by Frederick, and they felt that the two groups had no need to cooperate in establishing Ascending Company.
Unless, of course, Frederick was trying to save the Davis family.
The Davis Group was able to complete their transformation and secure their position so quickly, thanks in large part to the support of Ascending Company.
Earlier, Rachel and Frederick were standing on stage together, giving a speech. They looked like the perfect power couple, making everyone think they were the epitome of wealth and success.
However, Rachel's assertive personality was difficult for many men to accept.
Amelia, on the other hand, was different. She was gentle and lacked Rachel's arrogant and authoritative demeanor. She exuded elegance and grace. She wouldn't steal her husband's spotlight and wouldn't engage in inappropriate behavior, meeting the ideal image men have of their wives.
Rachel's strong and dominant presence was hard to handle for most men, except for someone like Frederick, who could handle her.
Sebastian was the perfect example.
"Ms. Davis, were you previously working at General Hospital?" a young man, Quentin Adams, suddenly asked Vincent.
Amelia looked up at him and vaguely remembered his name. She knew he was the heir of the Adams family.
Amelia nodded slightly and answered, "Yes."
Mr. Adams smiled and said, "I saw you a few times at General Hospital when I went to pick up my cousin. I just didn't expect you to be Vincent's daughter."
Amelia smiled lightly and asked, "Who is your cousin?"
Quentin replied, "Nicole."
Amelia exclaimed in surprise, "Nicole, really?"
Vincent whispered, "Nicole and Amelia are good friends. Nicole just never mentioned her relationship with the Adams family."
Quentin humbly smiled and explained, "My uncle and aunt were solely focused on research and had no interest in business, so they cut ties with the Adams family early on. Recently, my grandmother's health has been deteriorating, so they've reconnected with the rest of the family."
Vincent nodded and said, "I see."
Not far away, Rachel and Frederick had just finished paying their respects to the veteran entrepreneurs in the circle. Rachel noticed that Frederick seemed a bit down.
She arched an eyebrow and followed Frederick's gaze. She saw Amelia and Quentin having a conversation. They seemed to be getting along very well.
Rachel smiled faintly, swirling the wine in her glass. "Mr. Hastings, do you care about this matter?"
The Adams family has been on the edge of high society in recent years due to poor management. They are unable to compete with the Hastings family and are in desperate need of a family like the Davis family to help maintain their status.
Amelia, with her outstanding appearance and gentle personality, naturally became the sought-after marriage prospect for heirs of various families.
Apart from Quentin, many prominent families on the scene were considering a marriage alliance with the Davis family.
Frederick frowned at the comment and coldly responded, "No."
Rachel smiled faintly.
Sebastian stood next to Rachel, his face full of displeasure. The reason for his displeasure was, precisely, Frederick standing before him.
Earlier, Frederick and Rachel stood together on the stage, attracting the attention of many. Sebastian had been hearing people below praising Frederick and Rachel as a perfect couple. He was jealous and believed that he and Rachel were the most compatible pair!
These people were simply talking nonsense!
However, Frederick didn't bother to clarify the nature of his relationship with Rachel at all.
Seeing Frederick in a bad mood, he seemed to have found an opportunity for revenge and sarcastically remarked, "Frederick and Amelia have already divorced. How could he possibly care about something so petty? Even if he wanted to care, he doesn't have the right to anymore."
After hearing this, Frederick's face instantly turned extremely gloomy.
