Chapter 107 Special Relationship
Elizabeth grabbed Nolan's hand and strolled out of the school gate.
She walked over to the car, opened the door, and said, "Nolan, check out the new ride Mommy just got. Do you like it?"
Nolan glanced at the Range Rover and gave a slight nod, "Yeah, it's nice."
Elizabeth's face lit up even more. He actually said he liked something. That was a big deal.
The Range Rover zoomed down the highway like a cheetah in the suburbs.
Elizabeth drove Nolan back home.
Nancy had already picked up Pearl from kindergarten.
As soon as Pearl saw Nolan, she dashed over and hugged him. "Nolan, you're back! I missed you so much."
Elizabeth smiled and shook her head. They had only been apart for a day, and yet they missed each other so much. After all, they had never been separated since they were born.
Nancy smiled at Elizabeth, "You're back. I'll go start dinner."
Elizabeth took the kids upstairs. They hadn't seen each other all day, and Pearl was definitely going to fill Nolan in on everything.
Elizabeth headed into the study. Just as she closed the door, her phone rang. It was Ryan from the old Jones Group.
Elizabeth answered, "Mr. Martin, any news?"
Ryan replied, "Elizabeth, the property manager got back to me. They want to meet us at 10:00 AM tomorrow at Serenity Brew Cafe. They asked us to bring proof of assets."
Elizabeth couldn't hide her excitement.
After four years, she could finally buy the Jones Group building. She could finally give some closure to the late Robert and the former employees of the Jones Group.
Elizabeth beamed, "That's awesome, Mr. Martin. I'll be there on time tomorrow."
Seeing the Jones Group about to be rebuilt, Ryan was also thrilled. "Alright, Elizabeth, I'll go with you tomorrow to meet the buyer."
The next day, after breakfast, Elizabeth drove Nolan to Global Horizons International School.
At 9:45, she arrived at Serenity Brew Cafe.
Soon, Ryan showed up too.
Seeing Elizabeth, he greeted her, "Elizabeth, long time no see. You're looking more and more beautiful."
Elizabeth stood up to shake his hand, "Mr. Martin, you still look great."
Ryan sat down and asked, "Elizabeth, did you bring the proof of assets?"
Elizabeth shook her head, "No need."
Ryan was about to say something when the wind chime on the cafe's glass door rang, and the door opened. Elizabeth saw a familiar face.
Daniel walked in, and when he saw Elizabeth, he was momentarily stunned. Could it be that Elizabeth was the one buying the Jones Group building?
After four years, Elizabeth had become so wealthy? It seemed she had done well abroad.
Property manager Carl Ward accompanied Daniel to Elizabeth and Ryan's table.
Ryan stood up, "Mr. Ward, hello."
Carl shook his hand, "Mr. Martin, long time no see."
Ryan looked at Carl and extended his hand to Daniel, "And this gentleman is?"
Carl quickly introduced, "This is Mr. Taylor, the executive assistant to the president of Stellar Enterprises. Four years ago, I was entrusted by Stellar Enterprises to handle all matters related to the purchase of the Jones Group building. At that time, I was in contact with Mr. Taylor."
Daniel shook Ryan's hand, "Hello, Mr. Martin, I'm Daniel."
Ryan smiled, "Hello, Mr. Taylor."
Ryan pointed to Elizabeth, "This is Ms. Jones. She's the one looking to purchase the Jones Group building."
Daniel stared at Elizabeth.
So his initial guess was right. The buyer was indeed Elizabeth.
Elizabeth shook his hand. "Mr. Taylor."
Daniel's eyes stayed locked on her. "Ms. Jones, long time no see."
Ryan and Carl both looked up, surprised. "You two know each other?"
Elizabeth replied, "Not well."
Daniel added, "More than just acquaintances."
Ryan and Carl exchanged a quick glance. It seemed the relationship between these two was not simple.
Ryan suddenly remembered that four years ago, there had been rumors among the company's executives that Elizabeth and Michael from Stellar Enterprises had an unusual relationship. It was said that Michael once wanted to invest a billion dollars in the Jones Group. Unfortunately, Elizabeth refused.
Ryan's eyes darted between Daniel and Elizabeth. He silently wondered if there was some emotional entanglement between the three of them. Was that why Elizabeth left her homeland and Michael withdrew his funds?
Daniel stood up and politely said to Ryan and Carl, "Mr. Martin, Mr. Ward, I would like to speak with Ms. Jones alone. Could you please give us a minute?"
Carl and Ryan quickly stood up. "We'll go have a smoke outside. Take your time."
Before leaving, Ryan gave Elizabeth a look. Elizabeth nodded slightly to indicate she understood.
After they left, Daniel directly said, "Ms. Jones plans to buy the Jones Group building. Do you know the price?"
Elizabeth replied, "Four years ago, Stellar Enterprises acquired it for $150 million. With the current high property prices, it must have doubled at least."
Daniel nodded, "That's right. The current market value of the Jones Group building is $300 million. Ms. Jones doesn't seem surprised by the price. It looks like you've made quite a bit of money abroad. Weren't you supposed to be studying for a graduate degree? How is it that making money abroad is so easy?"
Elizabeth gave him a cold look. "That's my personal business. Is doing business in the country now also about prying into personal matters?"
Daniel quickly adjusted his expression, "I'm sorry, Ms. Jones. It's just that I haven't seen you in a long time, and I got a bit excited and spoke out of turn. Please forgive me. After all, when you left, my boss, Mr. Thomas, was in a bad mood every day. As his personal assistant, my mood wasn't great either."
Elizabeth sneered, "He was in a bad mood? Because something got out of his control? My departure was exactly what he wanted, wasn't it? What was he unhappy about?" He was just a hypocrite who wanted everything and still wanted to appear deep and emotional in front of others.
Daniel looked at Elizabeth's expression, which didn't seem like she was acting. Could it be that something happened four years ago that he didn't know about?
But during that time, Michael was clearly in a very bad mood. He forbade anyone from mentioning Elizabeth.
His depression worsened, and Daniel had to watch him closely. Everyone around Michael knew that he genuinely cared about Elizabeth and had real feelings for her.
Who would have thought that Elizabeth would be so heartless, leaving Michael and playing with his feelings, breaking his heart?
Whenever they gathered, they deliberately avoided mentioning Elizabeth. They didn't want to upset Michael, nor did they want to bring up her name.
A heartless and ruthless woman like Elizabeth didn't deserve to be associated with them.
