Chapter 161 His Private Life is a Mess

Seeing that the lab lights were already on, Louis pretended that nothing had happened and acted as if he had just arrived. He walked over.

Elizabeth was standing at the door. There were tear stains on her face, indicating that she had just wiped away some tears. However, he pretended not to notice.

He smiled and greeted her, "Elizabeth, it's so late, why are you still here?"

Elizabeth forced a smile. "Today's experiment data was a mess. I had to go over it carefully."

She looked at him. "Louis, why are you back again?"

Louis walked towards his closet. He turned back and flashed her a bright smile. "I have a terrible memory, left my coat. It's freezing outside. Came back for it."

He opened the closet door, grabbed his coat, and said casually, "It's really late, not safe for a girl to go home alone. Come on, I'll walk you."

Elizabeth wanted to refuse, but it was indeed very late.

She had to pass by a dark alley behind a bar to get home.

It was definitely unsafe.

Louis turned off the lights, locked the door, and walked beside her as they went downstairs together.

He handed her the hot drink he was holding. "It's freezing out, have some hot chocolate, it'll warm you up."

Elizabeth held the hot chocolate in her hands, feeling the warmth spread through her cold palms.

On a cold night in a foreign land, she felt a deep warmth.

It made her realize that some things weren't so bad after all.

Louis walked beside her, keeping a comfortable distance.

For a long time afterward, Louis would remember that night and always wonder why that walk felt so short.

In the car.

Louis asked Elizabeth, "How's the transition of the Jones Group going? Can you handle it? Are you adjusting to the changes? If you need any help, just let me know, don't hesitate."

Elizabeth smiled while driving. "Don't worry, Louis. The company is gradually getting back on track. Dean and I can manage for now. If it gets too busy, I'll definitely seek your help."

Louis asked again with concern, "How's Nolan doing lately? Is his condition improving? Is he still refusing to talk to strangers? How's he doing at Global Horizons International School? Is he settling in alright?"

Elizabeth replied patiently, "Nolan is still the same. But he's settling in well at Global Horizons International School. The teachers say he's doing quite well."

Louis nodded. "That's good. Nolan might just be a bit aloof. Maybe he just thinks the people around him are too stupid to bother with. After all, Nolan's IQ is much higher than average."

Elizabeth sighed. "Louis, now that you mention it, I remember something. Dean is really good at hacking, right? Nolan has been learning from him. Dean told me that Nolan has almost mastered his hacking skills. Before, Nolan always took his laptop to school. I never really monitored him or restricted his laptop usage. So, to be honest, I don't really know what he does on his laptop every day."

She added, "A few days ago, Michael came to my company. He said all the computers in his group crashed, and the network was down for almost an hour, causing some financial losses. He initially suspected Dean. I asked Dean, and it wasn't him. Dean and I both suspect it was Nolan. I guess Michael might have thought of that too."

Elizabeth looked worried. "I'm scared Michael might go after Nolan. He said he wanted the hacker to face financial and criminal charges."

Louis turned to her. "Elizabeth, even if Michael figures out it's Nolan, he won't do anything. Nolan's just a 4-year-old kid. Kids that age aren't subject to the law."

Elizabeth frowned. "I've been thinking about this a lot. Nolan's using his age and hacking skills to do whatever he wants. I need to teach him a lesson, set him straight on right and wrong. Otherwise, his worldview will get all messed up. I've already taken away his laptop."

Louis looked ahead. "Elizabeth, if there's a chance, let me meet Nolan. I'll have a good talk with him."

Elizabeth felt relieved. "Louis, that would be great. He seems to listen to you."

Louis gave her a comforting smile. "Michael still doesn't know that Nolan and Pearl are his biological kids, right?"

Elizabeth nodded. "Right, he doesn't know yet. Let's keep it that way for now."

Louis said, "Elizabeth, honestly, I think you don't need to worry too much about this. The kids are already 4. Even if Michael finds out they're his, he wouldn't do what he said 4 years ago and hurt them. That would be murder. Do you really think he could be that cruel? Besides, you're not the same Elizabeth from back then. You're strong now. He can't just push you around anymore."

Elizabeth's face darkened. "Louis, you say that because you've never seen Michael's brutal side. He's like a devil. If someone crosses him, he doesn't care who they are; he'll make them suffer. Before I'm strong enough, Michael must never know. They're my kids. I can't put them in danger. Louis, I hope you can help me keep this secret too."

Louis turned to look at Elizabeth intently. "Of course. I'll always support your decisions and stand by your side."

Elizabeth didn't notice the tender affection in Louis's eyes as he looked at her.

She relaxed and smiled. "Thank you, Louis."

Elizabeth then curled her lips in disdain. "Michael's personal life is a mess now. He's tangled up with two women at the same time. Just dealing with Eloise and Calla is chaotic enough. I couldn't let him take the kids away. I don't want my babies living in such a mess."

She added, "Michael will eventually marry Calla. Do you think someone like Calla would be kind? If she becomes the kids' stepmom, she definitely won't treat them well. But knowing Michael, if the kids' identities are revealed, he won't let them stay outside the Thomas Family. No, I can't let that happen."
